I have a wealth of experience working with a variety of populations and clinical issues. I have worked in a military setting, an inpatient hospital, a college counseling center, and in a number of community mental health care clinics. In my Arlington practice I conduct psychotherapy with adolescents and adults. In addition, I provide cognitive, achievement, personality, and ADHD assessment with children, adolescents, and adults.

THERAPEUTIC STYLE:
In my therapeutic work I focus on forming a collaborative alliance with my clients. Flexibility, openness, and an appreciation of context are guiding principles I use to formulate clinical impressions. I believe the most effective therapy involves clients as active participants in the treatment process. Consequently, I place great value on the clients’ perception of their presenting problems, and I acknowledge my clients as experts on their own experiences.

Having been trained in an integrative psychotherapy framework, I feel comfortable allowing the process to be guided what my clients bring to the session. I utilize concepts from a variety of traditional theories, e.g., experiential, cognitive behavioral, attachment, and psychodynamic therapy as well as principles of mindfulness, a technique derived from Buddhist psychology.

People struggling to find happiness in their lives so often get “stuck,” either ruminating about mistakes or problems from the past, or in chronic stress caused by anxiety about the future. Although aspects from our past contribute significantly to who we are today, therapy can be a perfect place to start reconnecting with the present. By drawing attention to the present moment, the practice of mindfulness can help illuminate fresh perspectives and it can also be used as a tool to gain greater control over one’s experience during times of distress.

I have a great deal of experience in psychological assessments with both children and adults. Written reports are typically available within three weeks following the completion of all testing measures.

In my practice I provide:

• Cognitive/IQ Testing

• Educational/Achievement Testing

• Psychoeducational Assessments

• Clinical / Personality Evaluations

• Specialized ADHD Evaluations

Under special circumstances, testing can be arranged over the weekend. Hours are by appointment only.

The office is conveniently located one and a half blocks from the Rosslyn Metro station.
