Klonopin Addiction Treatment

Many people rely on different medications to help get them through the day. Klonopinsare no exception to this fact. With the stresses of the job and the family and life in general, sometimes we may think we need medication to slow the pace. But what starts out as a pill may turn into a fast, downward spiral into addiction.

Brand Names of Klonopin Include:

  • Ceberclon
  • Klonopin
  • Klonopin Wafer
  • Valpax

Klonopin is primarily prescribed for panic disorders and certain types of seizures as well as being a muscle relaxant. With any form of Klonopin, addiction may occur more frequently than with other drugs as it can be described as a drug that caters to mental states. It is important to remember that the basis for addiction is a feeling that a medication of more of the regulated dosage is needed to aid in regular, everyday functions. Klonopin is also referred to as Clonazepan in the medical world or K-Pin on the streets. No matter what it is referred to, there is still a great risk of becoming addicted to this powerful drug.

Side Effects

The use of Klonopin is very dangerous when used unsupervised. Those who are addicted to this drug can expect to experience side effects including dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, impaired motor function, and impaired coordination and balance. These side effects are common to alcohol abuse in that alcohol and Klonopin are both “relaxers.” Those who are addicted to Klonopin experience similar reactions to those who face alcohol addictions.
Withdrawal
It is never a good idea to abruptly stop using Klonopin with proper addiction rehab treatment as the physical and mental effects can be devastating. These effects include anxiety, irritability, insomnia, panic attacks, tremors and delirium tremens. Seek professional addiction treatment immediately when quitting klonopin.

The first step to recovery from Klonopin addiction is seeking professional help. Physical addiction treatment will take place, followed by some form of counseling. Support groups are also a good way to follow post-rehab treatment. Joining a support group is imperative as it allows the person suffering with the addiction to be able to relate to others who have suffered with similar addictions.
