Hi All,

Not to sound exclusive - but, special call out to my beloved Tumbleweed! From myself and the K9 posse that loves you so dearly.

Well, so much has happened since I last posted. About a month ago, I suffered a mild stroke. Fortunately, my sister was right there with me, and per the Dr.'s if not for her quick reaction, the damage would have been much worse. As it is, the lasting effect have been very minimal. I cannot see completely out of my left eye, and my left hand seems to be kind of "lagging" for lack of a better word.

Again, per the Dr.'s, with therapy and work, I will regain possibly 100% of functionality. I start my rehab tomorrow, and I have to say I am pretty nervous.

Aside from having a killer headache, that seems to be the only remaining issue. Well, that and I cannot see very well from my left eye, and my left hand as I said "lags" making my typing - interesting? But, there does not appear to be any damage to my legs or feet - for which I'm grateful.

So, seems like I will have some spare time on my hands - in light of going through this "bad period" - I believe one of our adventures of the Fabulous Friends is in order. What do you think? Any thoughts as to where we shall go?

Tumbles, how are you doing? Please, let me know how you are.

Eveyone else? Please feel free to join in this thread - it is not meant to be exclusive in any way, shape or form.

Love to all,

Zinnie

Zinnie,

I had been worried about you. I know you traveled alot, but somehow you managed to stay in touch.

Praying for your continued recovery, and I hope your therapy session goes well.

Hi Army,

Thank you for your kind thoughts and words. Yes, I do travel a lot; but, fortunately, I usually have access to a computer so I am able to post and keep up with folks - while continuing to work on myself.

This has indeed been an experience, one that although I am not seeing it now; I hope to realize some positive changes.

I am now on a blood thinner, and some other medications that will help with my vascular issues. I also need to lose some weight. Of course, although I adore my Dr., if I went to him with a stubbed toe and a hangnail? He would tell me I needed to lose some weight. The truth of the matter? I DO need to lose some weight.

How are you doing these days? Are you being effected much by the fires in California? I worry as so much of my immediate family is still out there, but, thus far? They appear to be safe - as I hope you are.

Z.

Hey Zinnie

It's so nice to hear from you - I had wondered at your absence. And it's great that you are doing so well. You are just amazing, Miss Z. I have every confidence that with your unquenchable spirit, you will be able to overcome the effects of the stroke.

Hello Friends,

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. I will admit, that despite all of the other health issues that I have dealt with? This was by far the scariest.

Again, if not for the fact that my sister happened to be there, I shudder to think what could have happened if I had remained there.

I still feel "weird" in having to face the reality that at the age of 43, I suffered a minor stroke. Up to this point, all indicators point to the fact that I have always had to deal with having a unexpected stress factor in my life. I think for right now, I am just going to take it easy and pray that all good things will continue, and also for a group end of look.

As always, thank you so much for listening, and I hope to hear from all of you that I have come to "meet" here through our posints.

Z.

Zinnie, It is indeed so good to see you back posting again and I am glad that you are able to. I do hope you will recover soon and completely. I believe you will just knowing all you have been through already and have bounced back so to speak. Please take care, okay. Love and Hugs to You and all the little friends, too. TW

Hello Friends,

Thank you for your encouragement. Wow, in re-reading what I posted last night, I do see the other lasting effect and that is I am not making much sense. That last paragraph that I wrote? Even I don't have an intrepretation of what I was attempting to say.

Thank you all for your prayers and your well wishes. I had my first rehab today and it is going to be a long road, and a tiring experience, but, as Free said I have to look at it as another adventure.

All of you posting though has made a difference to me. It is always nice to realize that you have support.

Thanks again.

Love to all,

Z.

Zinnie,

So scary to think of a stroke! Glad you are on the mend. I have missed hearing from you. Lots has changed for me here in Oklahoma since we last chatted. Some good, some not so good. Would love to hear from you!

Holy Crap!

Zinnie! Zinnegan. Zinster. Zin, Zin, Zin.

I've had a couple of friends who went through the brain injury thing. THe word "sucks" is almost created for this one.

I m so glad you came through that in what sounds to be pretty good shape. Wow.

Lovelovelovelovelove. Hughughug.

Lean into the rehab--it can really do wonders.

Take good care of yourself and let others care for you.

And of course...

Don't ever do that again.

Hello All,

Well, my first week of rehab. It was hard. Very hard. I have to admit, I have no idea how my daughter has done all she has done over the years. I am only having to focus on regaining strength in my left arm, well that and getting it to do what I want it to do. It seems to have a mind of it's own.

None of the Dr.'s have a clue as to what caused any of this. My husband has a theory that I had been suffering from migranes that were also causing my neck muscles to tense up. Since that was the case, the Dr. that I saw (not my regular family Dr. by the way as I was traveling with business) gave me some muscle relaxers. We are wondering if it was a reaction to the medication, combined with the stress of winding down a work project, traveling non-stop, working 16-20 hour days, and not getting enough sleep?

In any case, this was a wake up call to take better care of myself. My two sons were here for ten days to help out. Now the oldest has returned home, and the youngest is still here with his wife and daughter.

The little red LOUD dog is happy to have me home. The Inspector? He is checking everything and anything new that comes into the house. Canes, books, you name it! Little Bee? She is silly. My husband? Wonderful as ever, although he is still "hovering" - I keept telling him I'm fine, but he still has this worried look about him.

Thank you friends for checking in. It does me a world of good to come here and "see" all of you.

Love to all,

Z.

Thanks Tumbles.

Is it cold up there in Ohio yet? I think LOUD is planning one of the magical adventures for us to go on. Is there anyplace special you would likt to check out? I know you and he love to do the bungee jumping thing.

WD - You said that you have some other friends that have gone through this. Can you tell me what their ages were, and what triggered this in them? I'm still trying to learn all I can.

Nancee - what is going on? Update me.

Wow - so many folks here popping by. Everyone, tell me what is up with all of you.

Typing out messages is actually part of my therapy, as reptitive motions is the key to building back muscle memory and strength. Again, it is weird to type so slowly for me, and to have to really re-read what I write as even I have noticed I tend to jump around a lot.

Love to all,

Z.

Hi, It is around 50 something today and is to turn colder with snow by Tuesday. Not looking forward to that ever even though we've had nice weather this late in the season. Well, you can let LOUD know I went to the circus again and enjoyed it with my family. My favorite aerialist was not there this time, but it was all good. I always come out of there so inspired that anything is possible. Just have to keep reminding myself of that. I will have to give some thought to where might be a nice adventure, but you know I'm usually not that creative. However, as it gets cold and snowy here I'd like to go somewhere warmer and more sunny to get away from the gray days. Z, I'm glad this is therapy for you, will have to try to make it fun. Later. Love, TW

Hi All,

What made it hard? Well, for one thing I want my hand to do what I want it to do, and it seems to have a mind of it's own. It also "lags" meaning I'm not typing or moving anywhere near as fast as I normally can.

The other "odd" thing is that I will be in the middle of a conversation, and I forget what I'm trying to say. I know what I want to say, but, I cannot seem to be able to verbalize it. My vision in my left eye was also affected. So, for right now, no driving.

Z.

Hi Z!

that would be so frustrating! Try to laugh at the conversation thing- it sounds like somebody who is stoned. You could always use the phrase "oh that darned medical marijuana" lol

Just trying to lighten it up- sounds like this is tough, especially at 43-I'm about that and I've had a tough time acknowledgin that my body just doesn't do what it used to do- I go play sports and pull a muscle, I'm stiff in the morning, can't pull all nighters anymore without feeling like I've truly been through a war, that kind of thing, cortisone shots to stop nerve pain, that kind of thing.

You hang in there! When is your next appointment and how is Lisa?
