****WARNING - MAJOR VENT*****

I dunno know about
anyone else here, but I waited in line for over 2 hours to vote for
his butt and, grant it, he DID inherit quite a massive
plateful....but really now - in the wake of so many soldiers losing
their lives with these 2 wars and the economy in the pitiful shape
that its in......flashing those pearly whites just doesn't seem to
have the same impact it did on me during the campaign, and frankly,
I find it a bit insulting ~

ALL is NOT
well.

I just don't buy
into what this political system has sadly relagated itself
towards...personal appeal.

Like what?
Promoting a fricking "Brand" Now?????

Shhe-it!

Going on "The
View" recently and making small talk with 'the gals' just isn't my
idea of responsible leadership.

Bottom line, his
previous 'slam-dunk' charisma is quickly fading....and fading fast
in my book!

What in the world
ever happened to REAL leaders?????

You know, the kind
that didn't worry about the polls 24/7?

The kind
that....it really didn't matter TOO much that you believed in their
agenda or not - but just that the agenda that they DID believe in -
they stood fast in and were non-compromising about...caution to the
wind - take it or leave it - exit polls be damned.

Uncompromising.

Deosn't anyone
have any damned balls today?????????

Just pisses me
off!

And you
know....P.S. - I could give a rats ass about Chelsea Clinton's
wedding or for that matter - who was it - one of the Bush's
daughters that got married recently....ya think that has any kind
of bearing in my life?????

Hell
NO!

But...according to
this massive, media machine owned by just now, What? a small
handful of puppeteers, awww golly gee, ain't all these weddings and
such just so cute and distracting?

(Me = finger down
throat!)

Why
shouldn't he be smiling?

Look how many
people he got to buy into what he was selling.

Buyer's
remorse?

Anyone who thinks that they've got the smarts and the integrity
to do the job... is suffering from delusions of grandeur and is
therefore not qualified!

he
and Nancy Pelosi are turning the country into a populace, like
Venezuela. That's why he is smiling.

>"What in the world ever happened to REAL
leaders????"

Fear keeps most of
them from emerging. Any leader exposing the corruption or pushing
an agenda that opposes that of the banksters is dealt with
accordingly. e.g. Lincoln or Kennedy

Even many less
prominent individuals have since been jailed or have had their
lives cut short as a result of voicing their anti-Establishment
positions.

Quashing
free-thinkers is just business as usual for the ptb.

I
dont look at the small things like him smiling or going to the
View. I see it like this: He's 100 times better than Bush. He's
done so much and most of all:

he is trying his
best.

He's trying to do
sensible things.

Lets talk about
the fact that 40% of Americans approve of Palin. How about that? I
mean, thats completely sad. This woman is a conwoman and she's out
to earn some money, writing books. If anyone was intelligent, they
would see through that facade but no, its shocking that 40% of us
cant.

He's doing what he
can. And oh yea, lets talk about the part of "No" too. Thats all
they do, right.

If you compare
Obama with Palin and the Republicans, its a 1000 times better. Yes
he's not perfect but he's trying to do something.

And you can see
the same things from two points of view. One, you can joke about
him going to the View. Or you can say he wants to show he's
approachable to the public and he's connecting to the common person
and thats what he is. "real"/traditional leaders who keep their
distance from the public in order to keep up some kind of fake
dignity, I dont like that.

Once again, he's
trying his best. He's done so much. A few hours on a very popular
show that connects to people in America, thats not a bad idea. Its
a great idea.

I
just came from watching TV. $700,000 in a government program to
study monkeys. I might become a republican. I'm on the fence
now.

Palin
has the cojones to talk about cojones.

Yeah, hope and
change. I'd always hoped my tax dollars would be used to study
monkeys. At least they're being transparent about it and letting us
know, right?

I DID change
parties before the election.

guest_guest, i say just vote the way you want to. Nobody says
you have to vote all republican or all democrat or all libertarian
or all whatever. Corruption in government is astounding to say the
least.

I
agree, andi. I was thinking the same thing myself when I saw this
thread. I am glad someone brought it up, truth. I just ranted
myself so don't feel bad. You have good reason. When we were in WW2
what was the president doing. We have TWO wars going on (if you
don't count the oil crisis in the gulf as a one) and a Commander
& Chief is preoccupied with a global agenda -- and celebrety.
The debt is climbing, the dollar is dying, The unemployment rate is
still high, the economy is not good (in the real world) and Obama
has flipped-flopped on campaign promisses (although not all) and
compromised on too much too. As they have been saying:" the new
boss is looking a lot like the old boss".

I have to stop
now, my computer is about to erace everything again.

Bitsy,

I have to say that
your calling me a racist hurt.

(But only mildly,
because deep down, I know who I am.)

formally,

Thank you for your
post.

I just seem to
remember that during WWII, people were actively engaged in the
effort in their everyday lives.

Rationing, for
example (comes to mind.)

My mom tells me of
stories about how nylon stockings were a hot commidity in the war
effort because many of our natural resources for materials were
rationed and nylon (among others) were very scarce and EVERYONE had
to make sacrifices.

Rosie the Riviteer
(spelling) where the landscape of the war totally changed and women
were sent to assembly lines to keep airplanes and such moving
along.

We were involved
24/7. The war had a DIRECT impact in our everyday lives!

Today, it is not
like that....at all.

No, not by a long
shot.

It has kind of
been relegeted/ deduced/minimized to simply buying one of those
red/white/blue magnetic ribbons (made in China, maybe?) and well,
you know - just attach it to your gas-guzzling car...and hence,
look at me......I'm being "patriotic!"

That's my bone to
pick!

We are NOT engaged
in this war directly as we were back then.

About the only
REAL patriotism I ever see these days is sometimes at the end of
the PBS nightly news broadacast, they show the picture, names,
rank, DOB, hometown, date of death for all of the fallen soldiers
who died that past week.

That's
real.

It just irks me to
no end that aside from real moments like that....we pretty much
live in a nice, safely protected bubble from the rest of the
world.....but hey! Who's gonna be the next American
Idol????????

That the most
pressing question of the day.....right?????

But you know - I
am not just all about ranting and raving and stuff (though it does
feel good to let off some steam sometimes as I have done
here....)

I recently started
watching an excellent, new cable channel based out of Charlotte,
NC:

"Halogen TV"
Documentaries such as "Penny Revolution" are such a breath of fresh
air and a welcome relief that this new generation of ours now
emerging (at least some of them) see the world for what it really
is and are there to make a positive difference!

Micro-finance and
all.

It's a good
thing!

There STILL is
hope!

Truth
Be Told, my sincerest of apologies. I did not mean to call you a
racist, but a raaaccciissttt (anyone who disagrees with our current
occupant in the White House). It was meant as a very tongue in
cheek think. Not at all meant in the negative light you took it.
That is a problem with the written word, you can't see the emotion
behind it.

I know a lot of
people who have buyers remorse over voting for NObama.

Bitsy,

Thanks. (Though, I
must say - the entire tongue-in-cheek thing flew right over my
head...but you know - whatever.)

Folks are really,
really, REALLY frustrated. Can we agree on that?

I honestly don't
know just where in the world it began that....all of a
sudden.....'positioning oneself' (as like....some kind of 'brand'
or something that you 'buy' into...) politically meant more than
what he/she actually stood for?

Like some kind of
stupid, foolish 'personality contest' in high school or something -
you know?

That's what this
crap reminds me of.

Don't be upfront
and tell them what they NEED to hear....just tell them what they
WANT to hear...and all will shake out to be OK - just Jim
Dandy.

I really had high
hopes for Obama.

I really
did.

But sadly, much to
my demise to actually admit....he is still part of the old
decades-now operating political machine, in one way or another, and
I sincerely thought that he would be different.

My feeling is
this: It's OK to be different. It's OK to offer up and proclaim
yourself as an induction towards change from the
status-quo.

.....Things
is.....hard thing about that is - well, you've got to back it
up.

Obama hasn't done
that in MHO.

It's like I said
before.....he really WAS a welcome relief from the past
administration.....on the surface....at first.

But then...it
seemed to me that at first he was kind of slick.

Which was like -
at first, OK, you know?

Now....its
like....he's too slick - you know?

That's why his
flashing, gleeming white smile of his just doesn't chamm me like it
used to.

I DO feel though,
deep down, in my hearts of hearts, his INTENTIONS were perhaps, at
first, very, very well-meaning....and lawd knows that I would not
personally - NOT in a million years ever venture to take on the
incredible responsibilty of being President of the US, all things
considered.....he IS savvy, He DOES seem to have mendefd some of
the friction with other countries that G W isolated with his
pompoous attitude or what have you....thing is - he's just falling
short in my book.

He is too
concerned in a win-win mentality - when ya know - that just ain't
possible.

So - what is the
other option? Complete gridlock?

I think the thing
that really frustrates me the most in all of this is he just ain't
willing to (frankly put) - place his balls right there in the open
- on the chopping block - and say - THIS is the way we ought to go
and I'm not backing down!

Exhibit some REAL,
FRICKING backbone!

But, like I said
before.....(and much credit to author, Lee Iacocca's
book:)

Where Have All The
Leaders Gone?

I'll tell you
where they have gone:

They have become
nothing more than cowards, in every sense of the word, and have
conciously made the decision to be cow-towed and slickly slink
behind a massive veil of fear according to the latest and greatest
poll based upon their 'so-called" popularity at any given
(political) second...and base their important decisions and such on
such a meaningless and fleeting, temporary evaluation of such....so
as to confuse these "numbers" with actual reality.

And in the
interim, completely undermine ALL that they perhaps set out to do
because of one word:

Fear.
