Why do some Christian people try to shove their faith down my throat

To answer the original question, it isn't right that some "Christian people" shove their faith down your throat, they give God a bad name I think. But re-read the threads in the Liberation threads...some are just as aggressive in shoving their unbelief down the believer's throat. And that's okay, we all can believe what we want, that is where the free will comes in. Wow, politics and religion....2 very touchy subjects...always waht wars seem to be started over!

I disagree. No one who is an "unbeliever", in my experience, knocks on doors in the neighborhood asking if people have "chosen to not be saved by jesus christ". Athiests don't demonstrate in the plaza of the americas at the university I work at every day.

Monday there were two guys draggin homemade crosses through the campus, screaming in people's faces about how the end of the world is coming and they should repent.

The worst I have heard from those who choose not to follow a religion or faith is just words, their personal statements of belief. Athiests do not proselytize.

i don't know why this is reminding me of this... one day i was home doing graduate school homework, stressing out over that and personal shit, having a crappy day and I got one of those phone calls. It was from some charity- NY Cares (no offense to the charity as a whole) looking for coats for the homeless. I had no money, just got a new job after working for minimum wage for a good while. I also had no spare coats, and my own was a piece of garbage. I said "No, I'm sorry I don't have an extra coat." The woman said, "Well, fine. God HATES ugly people you know." I just hung up and cried.

I wish I could tell you it was a crank call, but it wasn't. I've run in to that type time and again. Just because you go to church, doesn't make you a saint. Some people think the minute they walk thru those doors it excuses all their actions on the outside of them.

Just because you don't go to church doesn't mean you are not a christian.
If anyone tries to shove their faith down your throat it's because you open your mouth and let them.

I'm sorry that you have come across some unChristianlike Christians. I'm sure they are doing what they think is correct. Perhaps they have some unresolved problems. All Christians are "works in progress".

mzrella,

That was a horrible thing for that lady to say to you! And, God does not hate anyone. Ugly people included! (Although I don't know what that had to do with donating a coat!)

Hah, mafia hit men are christians too. Do you think they worry about going to church with the blood drying under their finger nails? No frikkin way!!!

If someone called me and said that ella, I would laugh and I sure hope you do next time.

There is no one in this whole world who knows what's up better than any one else. Bottom line.

sweet amanda-

I think she meant "ugly on the inside." At least that's how I've heard the term used. Pretty ironic that she'd say that to someone for not being able to give to the homeless- who at the time had no money, lived in an SRO hotel and probably gave more to charities in the past my short years than she ever will. But who's counting? Oooops... guess i am. 🙂

mzrella,

Well still, I don't think God hates people who are ugly on the inside either. *LOL* I'm not saying that you are!

That is one thing that sure does make me angry... Some Christians forget that God loves us all the same. None more, none less.

I must admit though, that it is sometimes hard to think about, because I think of people who have really hurt others... And I think how on earth could He love them? Well, that's the thing, He's not on this earth.

Well, they have managed to shove it down an entire nation's throat, why not yours, too?
