Hi everyone,
Guest asked me in another thread how I came up with my nickname and I thought it would be a good idea for a thread. (I think this was done already a while ago)
Anyway, as I explained to him, there was really nothing "profound" nor any hidden meaning behind the name......
When I signed up here, I had chosen several different nicknames but every one I picked had already been taken. At the time...I was becoming impatient...and happened to be sucking on a lollipop...and well...the rest is history.
Would anyone else care to share how they chose their name?

turnabout came because ... I wanted to make a turnabout. It's as simple as that (and probably self-explanatory. lol) as that.
I guess there is also a bit of a tongue-in-cheek implication that I think I'm pretty clever, too, and can give a person a turnabout way of looking at things. I'm a bit mischievous that way.

I had hoped someone would recognize where my nickname comes from .... but no one let on that they did, so I put it out as a puzzle to solve on the "Beatles" thread awhile ago. (And those super sleuths figured it out in short order, given some fairly subtle clues 🙂
It's a Vulcan word. I'm a Trekkie. So there, now you know!

I chose the name "Matthew" because I often reflect on a certain verse in the book of Matthew. It deals with worries (anxieties). Matthew 6:34. "Therefore don't be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day."
"65" is the year I was born. 🙂

I chose mine because "lollipop", "guppy", "guest", and the rest of yours were already taken. I thought of being "lollipop2" but didn't want to play second fiddle. (j/k)
I was eating a chicken sandwich at the time and almost became "big chicken". The sandwich also had turkey on it; good thing I didn't think about that then. :o)
Seriously, I've always considered myself a seeker after wisdom and knowledge. I added my first initial "w" at the end because "seeker" was already used.
I was "patchwork" on another site, long ago, because I felt I was a collection of various experiences all randomly thrown together, like a quilt.

Juanita, I like ladybugs, too. That would be a neat nickname.
RW, I had a feeling that's why you chose your moniker.
If I had another nickname, I think it would be "mantis". I used to love to feed flies to the praying mantises at one house when I was a kid. Those insects are so neat to watch.

((((((((((((((Mama))))))))))))))--my Pastor actually brought this one to my attention. He told me to read the entire chapter 6 of Matthew and made me think of which verse would be the most applicable to me. He never gave me the answer--i figured it out on my own with the help of God.

This name was origonally a part of my email address, one that I now longer have.
I created that account to use when I was working on a campaign in my state to defeat an amendment banning gay marriage.
I wrote several pieces that I sent out via e-mail to various local newspapers and magazines. I needed a new address, and picked Free2Choose because I felt like it fit. After all, it was what I was fighting for. To be Free2Choose who I wanted to love and marry.
Now, it fits who I am so well, I would never get rid of it. I love it, it is so me and EVERYthing I stand for.

omw,
I envy you and your baby praying mantises. I'm glad they're still around. They're the only insect that can turn its head, like a person. If you hold a fly by the wing toward the side of a mantis' head, it will, after a few seconds, suddenly turn its head and look right at the fly, then slowly reposition itself to strike. Very cool.
tumbleweed,
In my early college days, I would likely have chosen your nickname for myself. I considered myself a tumbleweed, blowing wherever the wind blew me, with no roots. Glad those days are over for me.
