I have had a few days to ponder what I wrote and I must say that I wished I would have been able to back off a little first and perhaps 'take it down a notch' with regard to the sarcasm, glaring assumptions and harshness on my 9-25 post to Tez.
All that being said, I think that I could have got the same message across but in a much more civil, less personal manner.
I got triggered.
I think that it was the statement:
"At the risk of appearinging 'patronizing' or 'proselytizing'...."
Yes, I agree. Patronizing and proselytizing is right.......
Personally, I really could do without the condescension, which is probably (in hindsight) all I really needed to have said in the first place, truth be told.

yea. I have the same problem.
If i were more comfortable, then maybe I'ld have more control when i see someone has absolutely NO understanding of my whole situation or isn't choosing to offer insight on this plane we are all on.
None of what he said offers solutions or fixes for my everyday life.
Perhaps on a spiritual level, make time to meditate, and clear my mind of stresses. Re-Fuel for another hard day.But i already do that.
None of that will change the outside forces in this world that make mine, and many other peoples difficult. Not in the timeframe i need.
I don't have the luxury to remain imobile. I'm trapped on a working class treadmill.
Even the treadmills are breaking down, and the lineups are getting longer!

I am wondering if there has ever been a time in human recorded history where there was such wide spread, global unprecendented greed and exploitation of what appears to be happening now?
(Any history buffs around?)
In a way, I suppose that it would be nice to think that there was, that way, we could learn from history and not repeat it.......

I think it was worse in the past.
The working class rarely could own a house, or have the extras we have.Bare minimums. I don't think i would've wanted to live before the turn of this century as a women. YIKES!
Technology throws a whole other element into quality of life.
When people had to do without technology there was never a day off, or holidays. That was something for the rich.
I think with all the corruption, eroding incomes and the pull back of luxury items ( the inability to afford items without credit) is part of a plan to take us back to a time when we were all serfs, and had no way out. When the working class had no protections, no disposable income for "pleasure", or a court system that would judge their conflicts somehwat fairly.
We see the Greedy and corrupt tactics for today. Using todays culture and technologies to take away what we have gained. It's a combination of psychology, technology and our own worthless monetary system, used by the powerful and corrupt, that is bringing us all down.
Same plan, different circumstances?

MsGuided,
You have given me much to chew on.
I really so appreciate your fresh perspective.
(Fresh in that, I never considered what you have said before.)
I don't think that I would have liked to have lived as a woman before the turn of the century either. Yikes - is right!
Thanks for giving me words to ponder........

Now the banks- you know, the ones we bailed out with our tax dollars- are beginning to charge outrageous commissions and fees so that they may profit. And who is getting charged the fees- the same folks who bailed them out. Makes sense, right? Where's the gratitude for helping the banks and CEO's out of a jam?
I don't use credit cards often and always pay them off when I get the bill and don't carry a balance. Recently I had to make an emergency charge. I just got the bill and was charged $20+ for the charge (HUH?) plus and a service charge. So I am being charged about $22 for making a charge. In the past there has been no charge or service fee.
I think I may be cutting up my cards and just keeping one if this is how we are going to get hosed even further. And what choice do we have? None.

Yeah, it's financial gouging at it's finest, isn't it? It would appear that you're more disciplined than the average Joe with your credit card management habits. They are designed to keep folks down and it works quite effectively, doesn't it?! Please North America - wake up! We're all getting screwed!!
Hope you're doing ok, S

I'll join this thread. I will be your "token" Christian.
Yes!!!!! The credit card companies are screwing us all but they have us over a barrell. I almost went into bankruptcy but avoided it. I have finally gotten a credit card with a 300 dollar limit but I have to pay 59 per year for it. But I have to have it and make a few charges on it so that I can build my credit rating back up so that eventually I can buy my own home again. It is a Catch22. The really rich are ok, the really poor are taken care of and we poor suckers in the middle are paying for it all. Yes!!!! I am angry.

This is something I have a hard time admitting but I go to a friends church on Wednesday nights so Cat can go to youth group and I go to a Bible Study, but we also get to eat dinner out for $7. I look forward to my Celebrate Recovery nights because the church there provides a meal for us. It isn't fancy, sometimes pizza, sometimes Quizno's, sometimes Wal Mart fried chicken. But CR is helping me get mentally better and it is a night I don't have to fix a meal. I try not to think that I am "using" them to stretch my grocery budget.

In Canada Credit is still pretty transparent when dealing with the large lenders: Banks and Credit Cards.
We can still get low rates or negotiate for lower rates on existing accounts. We can get prime ( 3.9 to around 6.9%) on a line of credit with no collateral, or credit cards at around 10% interest with a Good credit score and proof of income.
I simply called my Credit Card Co.s to get a lower rate and recieved it instantly. One has a yearly fee of $20, but compaired to the interest paid it was a bargain.
However we are seeing more credit companies infiltrate our system. The same type of scams that brought the US housing market down. Most target re-mortgaging homes at a lower rate, or 2nd mortgages with hidden fees.
Yea. Scrapin', but scrapin' at my interest rates while i still can.

Welcome Cristian!LOL ( i hope you have a sense of humour)
I ain't gonna attack your faith as long as you don't tell me
I'm going to hell.
I think it's great you seek out outlets and support. That's what churches should do. Put some REAL comfort ( food, clothing, housing) into the hands of those who need it. Tangible help, not just words or idiology.
That's the positive part of religion and I don't knock what helps and gives innocuous comfort to people.
