I get inspirational quotes everyday from the chaplain here at the hospital I work at. Todays was awesome,

"A hundred years from now it will not matter the sort of house I lived in, what my bank account was, or the car I drove. But the world may be a better place because I was important in the life of a child or one of God's creatures on this earth."

I love it, and just wanted to share it with all of you. Just a little reminder of what's really important in this life.

God bless.

"A hundred years from now it will not matter the sort of house I lived in, what my bank account was, or the car I drove. But the world may be a better place because I was important in the life of a child or _a creature_ on this earth."

I think to love and be loved is pretty much the bottom line.

My oh my, Guest, you really are a solution looking for the right problem, aren't you?

What we want to say is not always an improvement on the silence, my friend.

Guest thinks that you have to believe in God in order to believe in God.

He's funny that way.

A quote from Steve Martin (Comedian)

"I believe that we are all part of the great master plan - whereby: certain people are singled out to have absolutely nothing, for no reason at all."
(flippant I know, but twas all in good fun)

Seriously though, I appreciate your quote, Giggles.
TruthBT, Yeah, I'd say that pretty much sums it up.

I read a poem once about true success. Not sure exactly how it went but this was the bottom line:

If we can manage to leave this life having made someone's life
just a little better, having helped someone breathe just a little bit easier, then we have succeeded.

Giggles,

I actually had a plaque that hung in my office when I worked with troubled children with that exact saying on it. I always loved it. I often find myself thinking those words when I get down and depressed. As many of you know, I lost my older sister to breast cancer in 99 and am helping to raise my nephew in her absence. There have been so many times that I truly felt like throwing in the towel and my nephew would do or say something that made me realize that even if I were only important to him, that I am important. What a wonderful feeling that is.

It's like Jesus said "when you do this to the least of these my brethern, then you do it unto me." Giving freely of ourselves is not only the greatest gift that we can give others, but the greatest gift we can give ourselves.

Great quote...thanks!!!!!

alice, that is one of my favorite quotes. I remember Emily Dickinson writing. "If I can keep one heart from breaking....or help a single fainting sparrow. . I shall not have lived in vain.
