Trying to create something interesting for all.

I will begin with myself and what products is available.

I love Coke Light and Tab. Most people here drink coke. Then we have Sprite, Sprite Zero, Fanta Grape, Fanta Oranje and very important Appletiser thats made here.

I drive a VW Jetta 5 and looove the Jaquar X-Type. Will never spend so much money on a car. This is if i win the lotto.

The Prado from toyota and the Landcruisers and Land Rovers is also popular here. We also have Renault, Honda, Kia, Ford, General Motors, Hyundai,Nissan, VW, Toyota, Citroen, Mazda, Peugeot and I cannot think, ooooh Tata and too much to choose from.

Skincare:

Well, I was in this industry for 9 years and I stick to Gatineau from France.

We have Estee Lauder, Clinique, Christian Dior, Chanel, Revlon, Lancome, La Mer (Prarie) VERY EXPENSIVE etc.

What do you use on your face?

I just enjoyed a day of shopping. I bought Lauders new fragrance Beyond Ice Blue, I think. Just launced here. And I bought Pleasures Exotic. From myself to myself.

I went to Woolworths to shop. They are the Mark and Spencer oversees.

Take-Aways here is Kentucky, Nando's, Mc Donalds, Romans Pizza's, Debonairs, Steers etc

Hi garfield--I like this kind of thread--it's a "get to know you" place.

I don't drink softdrinks, but when I do it's Diet 7-Up or Diet Pepsi.

I drive a Mazda 3 / 2.3 Litre. I love the new Toyota FJ Cruiser; and would like to get one in a couple of years.

Skincare: I was with Aveeno Oatmeal soap and a wash cloth to exfoliate--recommended by my dermotologist. I use Lancome Absolue Moisturizer. I tried Creme de La Mer but it was too vaseline-like for my skin.

I love browsing at Sephora for Make up. I just bought Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation; it's awesome.

I shop at Nordstrom, Gap, and H&M for clothes. For dressy, I like boutique stores to find unusual things. I but most of my workout clothes at Target.

I spend big bucks on shoes, underwear, coats, and handbags. No cheap stuff.

Perfume--I'm wearing Marc Jacobs right now. But I do like the "Comfort" line of products from the bath and body works.

Furniture: I go everywhere. I just ordered two occasional chairs from Arhaus.

I don't usually do fast food, but if I need a protein fix, I go to McDonalds and get a Big&Tasty.

OK Garfield I'll play along.

Drinks, I love Pepsi, but to many calories so get 1 sometimes 2 per day and then switch to Crystal Lite. The raspberry lemonade or just respberry are my favs.

I drive a Dodge Ram clubcab. Well, I'm not supposed to drive, but when I do that is what I drive. I do go around town a bit when I need to. I would love to have a Jag also, but as you say.. cannot spend more for a car than you do your home.

Skincare, Dove white all the way. For face use the Dove products also. Those little sheets that you wet and wash your face w/ are good.

Shopping, Well I do very little of that coz I hate shopping. But when necessary go to Walmart and Price Chopper. Don't know how many years it has been since I've stepped into a mall. We don't have Woolworth's here anymore but I do remember them. I do love antique and thrift stores. Those I will walk around for hours if I could.

Drive thrus, has to be Taco Bell as my fav. Usually do the Wendy's, Arby's, or McDonald's dollar menu tho. Lots more grease at a cheaper price.

Ok, who's gonna go next? That was kinda fun. Thanks Garfield.

I'll play.

I drink diet coke, orange soda, ginger ale...but SHOULD be drinking all water. I love a big glass of chocolatey milk when I need comfort.

My favorite comfort foods (besides sweets and all breakfast foods and pastries) is chicken papikash and mom's mac n cheez.

I wash my face with biore face scrub for blackheads...I wash my body with equate (walmart generic) brand exfoliating body wash with a bath pouf.

I don't wear makeup but would love to try the bare minerals type makeup.

I don't buy fancy underwear - usually plain old high cut briefs or fun cartoon stuff from fashion bug. I get my bras at lane bryant cuz they fit the best...shop when there is a sale.

I drive an overpriced dodge neon, but would drive a dodge truck if I had the money....I'm a dodge truck kind of girl...fords are my next choice...the new harley davidson editions are sweeet.

I dress simple, shopping at fashion bug...conservative - jeans and chords with a sweater or simple top. I don't accessorize, wear sterling silver jewelry when I think to put it on. And don't own one pair of high heels, and wear sneakers most of the time due to heel spurs.

I eat mcdonald's cuz it's local and cheap and fast...but love chinese buffets back home and seafood. Applebees has the best house salad and wings...yum...comfort food.

I don't go to the movies/cinema much...seems like a waste of money....tho I enjoy it occasionally.

I love watching crime shows like law and order and CSI, as well as home makeover shows like flip that house and extreme makeover...also like wife swap and supernanny, I learn alot from supernanny.

I live in the middle of NOWHERE, so shopping is a hike...and even then, the stores are limited and disappointing...I miss "home" where I could shop all day. My favorite kind of shopping is little shops like they have in waterfront villages or historic areas...with all kinds of unusual decorations and such...I haven't done much antique shopping cuz of budgets, but would probably enjoy it.

I have two cats and a hamster and a beta fish...and am slowly growing to love dogs.

I don't mess with my hair either...I wash with aussie dual personality and condition, brush and go...occasionally I use pantene to thoroughly cleanse the hair with some garniere fructise long and strong balm.

I don't do my nails and they don't usually grow very long.

rambling here.

Rising, keep rambling. I can relate to much of what you do. I too am in Nowhere'sville. 30 miles to anything.

I'm simple. Make my own clothes most the time. A good scrub pattern is better than fancy in my book and much more comfy.

lol, the hair thing. I want straight long beautiful hair. Mine is so curly you cannot brush it unless you have just used conditioner on it. I like Thermasilk, and hubby gets them at cost from work on incentive plan.

I have my one dog and one cat that follow me room to room and keep me company.

This is fun.

O.K. - I'll play...

I drink at least one gallon of water per day - I have done this since I was about 15 years old.

I do LOVE Coca-Cola though, and usually enjoy one per day.

Ice cream, specifically Blue Belle is my drug of choice.

Car - my husand has a Toyota Tundra 4WD truck that he uses for in town and also working on the ranch. I have a Honda Prelude.

Skincare? Don't laugh, but, my work partner who is in her late 50's and looks like she is in her mid 30's with her gorgeous skin - has turned me on to... Vaseline! Amazing as a night time moisturizer. During the day, I use the line by Origins.

Make up - very minimal, and now have tried Bare Minerals and I do like it. It was recommended by the Cancer Center that I go through. When I was in San Francisco, we went to her boutique and I have to say I love it.

Animals - Dogs... love all animals, but, I had three dogs. We just had one pass away and we are getting another one tomorrow, so back to three.

Hair. What hair? I just shaved my head again... as I will be going through more chemo. So, #1 setting on the razor all around the head, and the top is about 1/4 inch on top for funk.

Perfume? When I do wear it - is Kenneth Cole Black for everyday, and of course what woman can not be in love with Chanel No. 5 for special occasions.

Newest thing - RED lipstick - with no hair. Makes a statment. Yes, I have cancer. Yes, I'm surviving. My husband loves it.

Shopping - depends on my mood.

Love to cook, love to eat even more.

Z.

"I don't drink softdrinks, but when I do it's Diet 7-Up or Diet Pepsi."

Pepsi is back in South Africa in 1995. They banned it bc of the Apartheid era. Coke still sells more bc it has been the softdrink for many years.

"I tried Creme de La Mer but it was too vaseline-like for my skin."

This would be ideal for my skin. Have a very dry skin. But its too expensive here.

" I just bought Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation; it's awesome. "

Gosh we do not have make-up from Giorgic Armani here, just perfume. Would love to try the foundation.

"I spend big bucks on shoes, underwear, coats, and handbags. No cheap stuff"

This is me. The things I like is expensive, I will go without a thing if I cannot afford what I want. Have cchanged a bit over the years, but I like good quality.

"Perfume--I'm wearing Marc Jacobs right now"

Never heard of Marc Jacobs.

Thanks for sharing. Its nice to hear what people use and drive.

Hello Mama

'Drinks, I love Pepsi, but to many calories so get 1 sometimes 2 per day and then switch to Crystal Lite. The raspberry lemonade or just respberry are my favs. "

The second Pepsi fan. I know what you mean talking calories.
Crystal Lite sounds like a diet softdrink.

"I drive a Dodge Ram clubcab."

I looked on the internet to see what a Dodge looks like some months ago. Looks like a nice car. Not in South Africa at the moment. We had to quote on car mats for the Dodge and the units we had to make was just impossible. I think we worked it out that our little factory would be busy for 2 years. We could never take on a contract as huge as this. Just shows you how big the world is.

We have Dove here, but i have never tried it for my face. Just used the soap.

I love the name Taco Bell. Do not have it here though.

Thanks for sharing

'

The first diet coke fan here. WOW I was getting worried.

"I wash my face with biore face scrub for blackheads...I wash my body with equate (walmart generic) brand exfoliating body wash with a bath pouf. "

Never heard of these products. I love exfoliating my body too. Just lazy sometimes to do it.

"I don't buy fancy underwear - usually plain old high cut briefs or fun cartoon stuff from fashion bug. I get my bras at lane bryant cuz they fit the best...shop when there is a sale"

I am also a plain Jane when it comes to underwear. Buy mine at the factory shop at a tenth of the price.

So you and Mamacinnamon both drive a dodge. If I hear the word Ford I see this very big black bakkie or truck shall I say, Mean masjine. Not to talk about Harley Davidson, I just get this free feeling over me.

"I love watching crime shows like law and order and CSI, as well as home makeover shows like flip that house and extreme makeover...also like wife swap and supernanny, I learn alot from supernanny"

We never missed extreme makeover or wife swap. I always cried watching extreme makeover. So nice to see them help people that really nead help.

We buy Pantene for the girls as they wash often with there swimming and I like Redken.

Thanks for sharing

Garfield:

Taco bell is mexican food. Yummm.

The Dogde truck is because my brother sold it to me at a steal of a price. Otherwise we'd drive a cheaper truck.

Crystal lite is a tea mix. You can even get it in little pouches to carry in your pocket and then just add it to your bottled water. Zero calories.

Zinnie: Vaseline ... sounds yuck. But we do use vaseline for lots of things from splinters to gum in hair, chapped lips, etc.; good stuff. Will have to add facial to the list.

Zinnie

"I drink at least one gallon of water per day - I have done this since I was about 15 years old."

I wish i can get myself to drink more water. Unfortunately I go to the toilet more often than normal. The more I drink the more I run.

Another Cola fan.

"Ice cream, specifically Blue Belle is my drug of choice"

Well said Zinnie.

"Skincare? Don't laugh, but, my work partner who is in her late 50's and looks like she is in her mid 30's with her gorgeous skin - has turned me on to... Vaseline"

Glad it works for you. Also have a very dry skin. GOSH I will save thousands if I could switch to Vaseline.

"Newest thing - RED lipstick - with no hair. Makes a statment. Yes, I have cancer. Yes, I'm surviving. My husband loves it. "

I can just imagine the red lips and short hair. Makes me think of Annie Lenox. I love her music, short hair and vivid lipstick. You are showing lots of caracter here Zinnie.

I love Mexican food. We do not have take aways that sell this so we have to make our own.

The taco shells is expensive here and all is importate.

"Crystal lite is a tea mix. You can even get it in little pouches to carry in your pocket and then just add it to your bottled water. Zero calories"

How convenient, we still have a long way to go.

garfield,

I am so surprised that Woolworth's is still around!!

Well, I am not a soda drinker at all. Only by default, only if there is absolutely nothing else to drink.

But, a nice small pot of coffee in the morning. I love coffee. I grind my own beans most mornings. Mix it with some quality decaf. I don't need a buzz. I used to smell the grounds when I was a kid and my mother, who liked coffee after dinner, would put several spoonfuls of it in my milk.

I also love white tea. Hmmm, from Trader Joe's here in CA. Their green tea and jasmine is awesome too. I will take a hot drink anytime, even in summer. And, this time of year, some hot chocolate is just fine.

fast food' Wendy's

thermasilk for my hair--it's my one vanity.

my cat likes Whiskas cat food.

I love Woolies as we call it here. Lots of out of the ordenary stuff. Well priced as well.

"I used to smell the grounds when I was a kid and my mother, who liked coffee after dinner, would put several spoonfuls of it in my milk."

What a lovely memory to have.

Gracenotes, I am also a tea lover. I drink 3 to 4 mugs a day. I bought green tea for the first time last week and I love it. No milk, just like that.

I thought caffeine gives one a headache. Like stay away from coffee if you have a headache. Maybe it works just the other way around for you.

My cats also eat Whiskas and they like canned tuna in water.

I'll play.....

I basically live on coffee and coca-cola....although I do try to get some water in daily.

I smoke Marlboro lights.

I drive a Toyota Camery.

Fast food....I seem to on a McDonald's kick as of late. Not good considering my doctor told me my choloesterol is too high and I may need to go on medication. I think I am rebelling. I can be defiant ya know. Generally speaking thought I usually eat pretty healthy for about 2 weeks or so after I go shopping...then it's back to the crap until the next time I shop.

I am a Stop & Shop gal for my groceries but just recently discovered a place called Price Rite. Oh...My....God...is all I can say about that.

For clothes I shop wherever. I love Old Navy jeans. I like the Gap, H&M, Burlington Coat Factory, and TJ Maxx. Why pay full price for designer names when I don't have to? I'm also not against second hand store....where I have gotten some great deals.

I usually by Loreal or Cover Girl Makeup, but I buy it at the Family Dollar instead of the drug or dept. stores. Again...why pay full price if I don't have to.

As for my hair. Sigh......
I cut my hair shorter a few months ago, so I have bought every product known to man kind to make it work the way I want it to (Matrix, Biologe, Paul Mitchell, VO5, Bedhead, Fructice, etc.etc.etc.). So far I have been unsuccessful. Although I have a lot of it....my hair is very fine so doesn't hold a style no matter what I try. I am in the process of letting it grow long again so I can go back to putting it up when it doesn't play right.

I think that's about it for now.....if I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Hi Lolli

"I smoke Marlboro lights"

Seeing the word Marlboro takes me back in time. My husband used to smoke it but then they banned it because of the apartheid era. He sweared if that would happen he would stop smoking. Needless to say he switched to Camel. heh

My hair is always up in a pony. Its too hot to have my hair hang.

As you know we make or manufacture car carpets. Every car has its own templet. The Toyota Camry is the biggest if we are talking sedan cars.

We always joke if we have to do a bootmat. You can easily stuff 6 people in the boot. Its HUGE

Thanks

Interesting thread.
Soft drinks, used to love Dr. Pepper, now I drink ginger ale, maybe a glass a day. I like various herbal teas, you name it and I've probably tried it. Occasionally drink coffee. Everyday, I drink some juice usually pomegranate cranberry which I've gotten used to unsweetened surprisingly.

Oops. Car, went from a Chevy to a Ford.
Haircare, use Thermasilk and apply a few drops of Jojoba oil. Haircoloring from All Natural Cosmetics.
Makeup mostly when I go out, still using Max Factor, same with lipstick.
Shopping, do more browsing than purchasing, but I like looking around at WalMart and any department store, also Thrift Shops and Antique Shops. Miss the better department stores we used to have around as well as Woolworths. Occasionally go to Marc's and love shopping at Trader Joe's. Sometimes check out the Health Stores.
Clothing, Have gotten too comfortable in that area. Love capris and tops in the warmer weather and slacks and sweat shirts and sweaters in the colder weather. And of course New Balance running shoes and low top sports socks. Like to get out in nature for walks.

I drink diet coke, lots of iced tea and water - when I remember.

I smoke Eve Menthol Lights.

I drive a Mustang.

My cholesterol is also high, so I take Chickweed herb capsules, so I don't have to take the dreadful, sickening prescription medication.

I'm cheap by nature and on a budget by circumstance, so now I shop at Sav-a-Lot(you bag your own),Piggly Wiggly, Kroger and Dollar General. I really get jazzed when I get something for almost nothing!! I try to avoid WalMart because I believe that corporation is taking over the world!!

When I am Forced to buy new clothes, I shop at Belk's. (they have great sales there!) I wear Nike running shoes for work.

The only thing I come off any money for is skin care, because I am allergic to fragrance- so I use Yves Rocher. This Fragrance-free quest of mine is very challenging to my cheapness, since I refuse to pay for "fragrance free" expensive products.

This is fun!

Okay, I'm addicted to hot tea...love the more expensive stuff, but usually stick with plain old Lipton's. I also drink Diet Mountain Dew when I really need a caffeine fix.

I use Phisoderm to wash my face, and wear mostly L'oreal cosmetics.

I hate to shop, but when I do it won't be at a Mall. Need someplace I can get in and out of quickly, like Target.

I don't have my nails done, only own 2 purses (one for summer, one for winter) and they each cost about $25. The only thing I really spend money on is my hair. It is probably totally gray right now, so I have it colored and highlighted every other month. And lots of money on products to tame my unruly waves and curls.

And I drive a Hyundai...first car I bought on my own after my divorce. The salespeople were great to me, not pushy, and it has a GREAT warranty!

As for fast food, I hate it. But I do like the Martha's Vineyard salad from Arby's...has apples, chicken and cranberries in it. If I drive thru, I order a salad. If I'm going to get a hamburger fix, it'll be from a good, sit down restaurant where they know how to do it right...with skins-on fries and all the burger toppings.

Okay...off to bake cookies! That's the other thing I splurge on at Christmas time. I bake TONS of cookies and spend lots of money doing it!

LOLLI...can we be ANY MORE ALIKE??????????????????????????????????????

OMG.

I miss price rite...and stop and shop...I was religious to stop and shop, but you can't be price rite.

price rite also owns price chopper, which they have here locally...and have good stuff, good prices and cleaner than stop and shop.

we have aldi's here too, but it's just not the same as price rite.

and I don't wear perfume either...but scented body lotions - usually some kind of fruity kind, like pearberry by bath and body works...or country apple....my favorite is body butter by basin company....the almond is to die for and 26 LOVES it when I rub his back and feet with it.

I used to have a toyota camry...it was my second car...dark blue.

my hair is long...I like it short but most guys hate it when you go short....so it's growing out....it's so limp....but when I don't condition it, it's frizzed out....still can't find the right combo...the closest is the dual personality which is light enough to not make your roots greasy but enough to condition the ends. I have to wash daily...cuz other wise I look like I rolled in grease.
