I am a full-blooded Hungarian. We have a family tree that goes back to the 1300's with nobility. There is even a castle in Hungarian belonging to my family on my father's side.

No intermixing with any other nationality at least on my father's side.

My mother was born in Transylvania in Romania which was a part of Hungary when she was born. Her grandparents were Hungarian.

If there was any mixing with another nationality it would have been when the mongolians and when Turkey invaded Hungary centuries ago.

My mother had a hint of mongolian in her.

I'm of Irish & Meditterranean, Greek background!

Kathy - I love Hungarian people! I used to have some Hungarian friends and actually worked with Hungarian people.

The Hungarian language is very peculiar and unique one. There is no other derivative to this language except for the Finnish language which is closest if not the same to it. All I remember from it is Egan which means yes. I forgot how to say I love you in Hungarian.

Hungarians are one of the most warm and romantic people in the world.

They have beautiful special wine and fine cuisine. Goulasch is the most famous.

Because of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, I love in particular the classical music of Mozart.

I wish I could spend my honey moon in Austria and dance Waltz with my sweetheart. I think Austria is the most romantic country in the world.

Whenever I watch the movie "The sound of Music" by Julie Andrews during the Xmas season, I can't help but feel nostalgic to this very classical deep-rooted in history country.

My sister-in-law is also from Transylvania. My nephew thinks that's totally cool. Every time she visits, all he wants to talk about is Dracula. She kind of gets a kick out it.

I'm American, with a background of English, Scottish, and French (some of my ancestors were Hugenots, and my mom's mom was a gypsy). Not quite as exotic as being Hungarian or Transylvanian, except perhaps for the gypsy.

Irish & French/Native American ancestry.

Culture, though, is more that ancestry, isn't it?

I was thinking about this earlier today. I grew up in a "village culture", where neighbors and family had blurred boundaries.

This has handicapped me in later life. I have finally figured out that this has as much to do with my reltaionship problems as my own inner personality.

People in village culture don't interact the same way as people in urban culture.

But urban culture definitely is an improvement over the negativity of a stagnant village culture.

He is v tall & slim, with stunningly beautiful large, expressive, luminous dark hazel eyes ... which is how I have always imagined Kathygy (only shorter.) Are you dark & v beautiful too?

Hmmmph ... I've got myself missing him like crazy now šŸ™

gazelle,

I am 5'1" tall. I have brown eyes and brown hair. My skin is a warm tone leaning toward olive rather than a light white pinkish color.

Am I beautiful? My parents always told me I was and I believed them. Men have always told me I'm beautiful or very pretty.

I do often feel beautiful but If i'm feeling down I don't feel so beautiful. It seems to vary with my mood. When I put on eye make-up I always feel beautiful but I can feel beautiful without make-up too.

How tall is 1.75 meters??? It sounds tall... Man, I am so American, I forget the rest of the entire world uses a diferent measurment system than we do.... ;(

And for some WIERD reason Garfield, I always thought you were a GUY!! ???Shrug??? I have no idea why!

As for me...well my Daddy's family is from here, in Louisiana, Cajun through and through, and I believe our culture is the best in the world...LOL (How very American of me, so culture-centric we are!) But I mean really... Cajun music and zydeco, Mardi Gras, Gumbo and Boudin!! We got it going on!!!

As for my momma's side, well they are from god-forsaken east Texas, wheewww...don't really claim that part of me, the redneck part.

Its funny though, cause Louisianians around here are sometimes called a "coon-ass" and my momma's people are red neck, so my daddy always called me a "red-ass"!! šŸ™‚ That always made me smile.

Suposedly my uncle on my momma's side traced our geneology back to the origional pilgrims or something, but I don't know for sure...that uncle, he's a wierd one!!

Anyways, "Hell, Yeah, I'm American" Thank God.

And for some WIERD reason Garfield, I always thought you were a GUY!! ???Shrug??? I have no idea why!

Exactly what Kathy said some months ago - she also thought that.

And here I go again - Cannot stop laughting, this is sooooo funny and I do not know what is so funny about it HA HA HA HA HA HA

Maybe it's because Garfield is a male cat!!!

Garfield! Free2 IS a guy as far as I know, even tho he uses Erica at the end. Very confusing!

Free2, am I right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Lolli for correcting me and getting me out of my confusion.

How funny! All this time I thought of her as a man. I think Erica once in a thread you were referring to yourself and talking about men and I might have got confused then.

I think it might be a good idea to indicate in our names if we're male or female. More than once I've wondered who's what, and then I never seem to remember the next time after finding out.

Maybe the Site Coordinator could start adding "_f" for female and "_m" for male to our screen names. I like knowing if I'm talking to a guy or a girl.

Anybody else agree?

Please, forget what I just posted. It sounds like I'm advocating the idea. I'm not. I'm ambivalent about it. It just would be nice to know who's male and who's female.

Somebody thought I was a woman because of the stance I take against pornography on this site. I've mistaken people's gender on this site myself.

BTW, free2choose claimed on the Nice Guy thread to be gay, so he/she might be a guy using a female name. We won't know for sure till free2 chimes in, however.

That's what I always thought Seek by reading many of his threads. That's why I am in confusion. Free2 always referred to himself as a guy/man in so many threads.

So I hope that my guessing was right!

Free2choose, Could you please enlighten us to your gender? Are you a male or female?

Thanks!

Ok, now I'm confused. I've never seen free2 say that she was a guy.

Erica.... I apologize if I was wrong about your gender.

I have to say I think it's bit odd that we (me included) keep going with this having not heard back from Erica.

Perhaps we should all stop guessing and just wait to until she comes back.

Lolli,

But it's so much fun to guess! We could even get a government grant to determine by careful analysis of free2's posts and by others interpreations of those posts the most likely gender for free2.

Where will we get our jollies after free2 chimes in? Not to mention the grant money would dry up. Maybe we should hope we never hear from him/her! :o)

Ras,

Hi. Guess what? This is funny ... I first thought you were a gay male! It was some things you said, the style of your writing. Funny, isn't it? (It is funny, isn't it?!?!) :o)

readyforachange,

Bless your heart for attempting to maintain the original intent of this thread (cultural background, not gender background). You're the first person with Albanian blood I have met. Welcome!
