I saw the attachk of th eKiller TOmatoes...what about the movie The Blob...that little red thing that got bigger as it rolled around and ate people!! That movie scared me to deth when I was little. Funny how if you see those movies that scared you as a child, they seem so innocent compared to today's horror films...which I don't watch ...because they scare me!

I haven't read that book in years, though I do catch the movie every now and again. However, I always miss the beginning.
It's a great story. However, the "Daddy, let's coast the car into the driveway" Scene still gives me nightmares.
Hey, you know what? I think Garp was all about being open minded. And love. And being human.

> It is as though we cannot comprehend or grasp at a deep level the state of total 'unawareness'. < This unawareness is nothing. Its just the fact that the thing doesnt exist anymore. The person has died, brain is dead, everything is gone.
>Is it because we existed before we were even conceived in our mother's womb?
..... slipped back into a prior existence and recounted reasons for coming into their present birth. < Its all a working of the mind. Even before the person is born, the brain definitely exists and is living and working, so I wouldnt be surprised if the person recounted something while in the birth canal. Could they recount anything before being conceived? Never. Its simple for me. That photon thing, hm, I dont know about it so I cant comment.
If there's a concious that can exist without the brain, where does it exist, in the air? Hmmm .. I would need scientific proof. I wont be convinced 😀 but you can try.

When someone dies, everything is gone except the soul, then it leaves the body...did you know thta every single person who dies is 20 mg less weight after they die...every single person, and it isn't attribute to loss of body fluids. Many physicians now attribute that to the "soul" leaving the body...isn't that interesting? So that defeats your theory of it just doees not exist any more...my thoughts.

"Could they recount anything before being conceived? Never. Its simple for me."
I'm glad you cleared it all up for me. How could I have thought otherwise. Circumstantial evidence and much research by eminent people? What the hell. Sticking my head in the sand certainly feels better. 🙂

Tez,
"Circumstantial evidence and much research by eminent people?"
Maybe i wasnt clear: nope.. that was evidence of them in the birth canal before they came out into the world. That can exist because the brain is existing at that time. But there's no record of anyone having any memories _before_ the couple had sex
again you say the mind exists outside the brain. Well.. where? in the back of the neck (astral projection kinda thing..?)
onmyway,
Any scientific proof for that 20mg thing? I searched the net, couldnt find any. If that was true, scientists would have caught the soul in a bottle in a liquified form.

Wel.. sorry, I cant buy the book for that.. heh. Too short of money and time here.
Seems like its only this Helen who's
done this work. Hypnosis, its like putting the dart on the ghost board and asking "where you born before 1650?" yes/no. 50% of the responses will be "yes", so hey presto, we met 14 ghosts who were born before 1650.
Thats what it is. I'd like to know exact details of "they were alive in the 2300 AD period." (I saw http://www.carolmoore.net/arti.....mbach.html ) How the questions were asked, whether there were any consistent answers to repeated questions. Since she was already biased and beleived in after/before life, she probably ignored any anti-evidence. The mind is powerful. For example in dreams, I've gone to strange places and done strange things, but has that really happened? Makes you think, doesnt it?
I'd have to know that more people researched this and everything was done scientically.
"20mg is the weight of a soul"? Evidence please .... (whoever claimed it)

Guesta Guest,
You said:
"Since she was already biased and beleived in after/before life, she probably ignored any anti-evidence."
Firstly she had a PhD so I presume that she was well aware of the philosophy of science and experimental bias in that regard. Her book was written in a very balanced way. Her research questioning techniques were very neutral - "like what are you experiencing now"?
Secondly, her research was not about 'life before life' at all. It was about memories of being in the womb, child birth and early infancy. The 'life before life' thing was as much a shock to her as any one else. What surprised her all the more was that her subjects were all Christian both nominally and belief wise. They also were shocked by their experiences.
And: "Seems like its only this Helen who's done this work."
It may seem like that to you, but that is far from the truth, I am afraid.
And: "I'd have to know that more people researched this and everything was done scientically."
And so would I! Over many years, I have done my homework. Since I have a academic quals in science, I am very familiar with the philosophy of science also. I am not easily swayed with falacious argument and sentimental claptrap. That is why I lock horns on this site so many times with those of the religious persuasion of any kind.
