This is the Thurman Diet. from OMW

I suggest one that speeds up your metabolism. This works without being mobile, is carbs and protein together. It is called the Thurman Diet.

Eat every 2.5 hours.

For breakfast: 2 egg whites, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 bananna.

Next, 2ozs protein (meat) 1/2 apple; then for lunch: 2 oz protein, 2 vegetables--sometimes I have a baked potatoe and tuna salad & 1/2 tomatoe.

Next: reat 2oz of protein, 1/2 apple; then for dinner: the same combination as for lunch.

It takes about 2 weeks for your metablosim to kick in, but after that the weight drops off of you like crazy.

It is 5 meals a day...and you can have a bedtime snack of fruit, or protein. But there is NO SALT, NO SUGAR, NO FAT on this diet.

I cheat a little and add mayo to the tuna, and then buy the spices that have no salt.

Also a good recipe on this diet is the chili, which has the protein and the carbs, using ground turkey, black beans (the low salt cans)diced tomatoes (the low salt cans)and then onion, basil, chili powder(no salt kind)and any spices you want to add.

Cabbage Soup Diet from OMW

cabbage, carrots, onions, green peppers, 1 pkg onion soup mix with water.

#1 day all fruit, as much soup as you want, as much fruit as you want.

#2 day all veggies, as much as you want, as much soup as you want. At the end of Day 2 you can have a baked potatoe with a small amount of butter.

#3 day, all the veggies AND fruit that you want, and all of the soup that you want. By now you should be a regular in the bathroom as your system is getting a cleaning!!

#4 day, to replace potassium lost from days 1-3, banannas and non fat milk, all day 5 banannas only, and 3 servings of soup.

Day 6..all of the chicken and veggies you want..2 servings of soup.

Day 7...steak only all day one serving of soup. The idea being that protein eats the fat.

Thanks MamaC for starting this! Great idea.

I am on that cabbage soup diet. tried to 'fix' it up a bit. Added 2 bay leaves, some basil and cumin seeds. I chunked the cabbage, so I have to 'cut' it when I eat it. The soup really needed those touches! You have to love veggies to be on this diet. Have had 3 bowls of soup. The fruit frim the fridg is warming up on the counter before I;ll eat it.

I am so hungry!!!! I cheated....for some chocolate.....made a glass of Ovaltine. Helped some.

My goal is to loose XX pounds. I don't have a scale, so I will have to see how the pants fit in the waistline each day. Glad we are sticking together here, not good at diets. Now my body needs one.

Maybe if we can learn to stick to a diet, will that help with being more firm with other things in life? Checking tomarrow....Sew hungry.

Just a quick note here as I only have a sec. This sight is going to be great for me. I've been dieting for a while and recently noticed I'm not doing so hot. Need to get back at it! Thanks, will check this out more tomorrow.

Has anyone heard about the book "Think Yourself Thin"? I just started reading it and have lost two pounds in a week. It's about reprograming your mind to make better food choices. It's working for me and I think it's also helping me in other areas of my life.

Hi ya'll.

Quick background on me. Most of you know I have severe health problems. Started 2 - 2 1/2 years ago. I gained 80 lbs. in less than a month. I have tried everything to get it off but it just won't come off. At the last doc visit he tells me now I am Metabolic Syndrome which is I am insulin resistant so it will be really hard for me to lose weight now. Has been already.

My goal is to learn nutrition and to lose 95 lbs. (I was a bit overweight before I got sick) and I would like to lose it by the end of this year. Not to terribly fast.

Thanks to ya'll for your support and help.

Count me in as I have to get my eating under control before my prediabetes turns into full blown diabetes. I am finding that my body has become so sensitve to all the carbs I eat and the refined sugar. I am not a good cook and don't really like to cook and that is why it is so easy to grab the fast food or the convenience foods. With 2 teenagers life is busy and my energy level sucks big time.

I am trying to read Dr. Phil's book and even printed out his 14 day rapid start. I just look at some of the foods though and think - yuck! I have to change my stinking thinking.

Thanks for starting the thread Mamacinnamon.

Love, TS

tooscared,

I have the Dr. Phil books also. My mom bought them for me. If you'd like we can go thru it together. I'm gonna start on it tomorrow. I am not a fast reader tho and don't want to hold you back if you want to read on.

I have the Metabolic Syndrome and prediabetes also. We'll have to work harder to find things we can eat that will allow us to lose weight.

Glad you came on.

Cheating? lol

I went to Barnes and Noble tonite. Had to have an iced latte grande with whipped on top. That wasn't enough...my stomach is so achy and gasey from the cabbage soup diet, so I HAD to comfort it with walnut carrot cake. And I did not meet anyone there while consuming the calories;(

Maybe need to write a daily dairy of what I eat, when I eat it and why?

Hey, all...just found this thread. What a great idea! I really could stand to lose about 15 pounds....not sure where to start, but I have some ideas now.

As an aside, and not really related to this topic but sort of....
I read recently that diet, caffeinated and carbonated drinks give you the sudden urge to have to go to the bathroom often. The older I get, the more I find this to be true....I can be walking along, and all of the sudden I've GOTTA GO! I have just cut out all diet soda with caffeine from my diet, and it is MUCH better.

Thanks for this thread....I'll check in as soon as I decide how I'm going to go about losing that weight.

Stay strong, you can do it!

I lost 30 pounds following the South Beach Diet. Lately I haven't been following it so much and I've noticed the cravings for carbs and sugar have started creeping back! I need! to get back at it. High Fiber carbs, no sugar and lean protiens. My weakness is popcorn and baked potatoes! I love food! Just had a doughnut. Yikes. But afterall it IS Friday! Never tried the cabbage soup diet. I love veggies including cabbage but I can imagine the gassiness is terrible. Does your body eventually get used to it?

Not on a diet posted here per say, but a good sweet tooth snack: Wheat toast, peanut butter (low fat) and slices of granny smith apple. I eat this instead of cookies, and it helps to satisfy the sweet tooth!!
