Why is it that some days you feel it, and some days you just don't?! My pastor was talking yesterday about how one day a week for an hour and a half is just NOT enough. I realized he is very right. I go to church on sundays and for awhile there I was going to bible study on monday nights. Now due to some changes in my life I am unable to go any longer. 🙁 I felt so connected and felt as if I was actually growing and learning in my relationship with God when I was making the effort to go and spend time praying and talking to him every day. Now, I just feel as if I've kind of lost that all because of changes in my life. Isn't that the time I should be dedicating more time than ever?! Does anyone else feel this way?

Well, my thoughts are that your relationship with God is first of all a relationship. It isn't based on how you 'feel' because our feelings can come from anywhere. But generally when we are connected, there is that closeness. You can also be connected anywhere you are. Try not to put stipulations on Him in the sense that if you don't do something He won't be there. Think of how a relationship with a good friend would go...or your Nana for example...unconditional love and acceptance...not based on what you do, or more importantly how you FEEL.

And you will find that there are the mountain tops and the valleys, the mountain tops feel great, but the valleys can be painful, but it is in the valley that you grow. So I say, "Giggles get ready to grow, get ready to go to new heights in your relationship with God. HE is ready to do great things in your life and teach you something new."

But don't cut out the prayer time and alone time with Him...that is very important to maintain, but when you are pressed for time, don't feel guilt. Tell him how you feel: God I don't feel you, where did you go? Is this right? Talk to him as you would your best friend.

Hope this makes some sense ?

also let me add...your relationship with God is based upon what he did for you 2,000 years ago...not what you do for Him! 🙂

I believe that when you are touched by the HOLY SPIRT, as Jesus lives in us, its a part of you. Putting a time on how much is enough. I have been blessed with Jesus in my life, literally, living in me. I feel the peace that he has given me and how he lives in me, all the time. I havent gone to church in a while, I do pray, yet I am filled with such admoration and loyalty to see things openly and know that the Lord has a very special place for me and not to force things, in time, Jesus makes all right. I dont agree with the pastor, I'm sorry. I do think spending time in prayer if self-motivation and an inner-peace that is very personal. When things get rough, I step back and take a step back and know that Jesus is by my side. If I give him the power and see through his eyes, things always have an answer, sometimes we just may not be able to see because we are just too blinded by the whirl-wind of daily activities.

nevereverihope, do you mean that you think spending time in prayer is self motivation?
