I am waiting for news about my mother suddenly going blind. My niece took her to the dr today. I am so far away i caont be there to help or anything. I feel I hvae a close relationship with God. when i prayer however , I moved to pray not for healing for her but that she would be free from anxiety and despair. that worries me. When my dad was dying i kept trying to pray for his life but I kept being guided for strength for my family. I am very worried about the news.

Thank you. she was able to get the shot in time to stop the bleeding but her eye will never see as well. she lost her sight in her left eye about 5 years ago and didn't get treatment in time. this time she did. we hope that it will continue to improve as time goes by.

thanks for the hugs and prayers. if she loses her sight she will lose her ability to get around, her ability to amuse herself with crossword puzzles, computer games, etc. this sound so trivial but without something to do i think she will just lay down and wait to die.
my brother lives near her and he and his family do all they can but i wish i could be there.

Hi Tiger Trainer,

Have you heard anything more about your Mom's condition? A good bible vs I try to remember when start feeling anxious and worried is this one.

Philippians 4-vs 6-7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I will be praying for comfort and peace for you both.

Peace and comfort is really all that can be expected right now. they stopped the damage to her eye for now but she will never see as well aagin.
it is so hard to see problems like this and be able to do nothing about it. I think that is where we have to learn patience and strength.

Thanks so much Terriberry for the leadership of your powerful prayer.

Please add me and my pain to your petition of prayer. I always feel when someone prays for me it means more than my egotistical, self-centered prayers.

I will also return comfort and peace for you.

Thanks terriberry,
Mom is fine. it's just that she is so depressed right now about getting older and not being able to see. My mom doesn't show emotion easily but she broke down on the phone last week as she was telling me that she might have to live sightless.

I know that God comforts us. I love that verse, 'My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth." isn't that wonderful? that peace "that passeth all understanding" I'm just not very patient with problems like this.

Tiger Trainer,

Sorry to hear about your mom's depression. I think it is pretty normal to have some slight depression after loosing your eye sight. I mean after all she is losing her independance, to move around freely. That has got to be hard no matter what age you are. I will contuine to pray for you and your Mom.

When I was going through the last stages of my Mom's life with her.
I read this psalm almost daily.
My prayer is that you will find as much comfort in it as I did.

God Bless,
TB

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]

2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
