They're using video games for fighting the fear of spiders. How about using games to fight public anxiety and low self-esteem? Is this possible? what kind of game would it be?

I guess for social phobia it should be a game that doesn't give you this boiled eyeball feeling from sitting alone infront of a computer screen all day, but something that gets you out and about. Maybe a video game that is played together as a group.

yea, i dont know what can be done in real life instead of on a computer.

video games for that spider give some virtual images that dont exist in real life. .that means one is restricted to the computer monitor.

anyway, i threw this idea out, i have no idea what can be done but i wish they did something like this to improve our self-esteem and stuff.

Guest, I think you might be on to something though. If you made video games that were huge, like the virtual reality theaters... you have to interact with people at parties or in public places or at work, and the characters react to you and what you say and do...

right. i felt eve was more concerned about the disgust she has for computer nerds (like me?), thats why she said what she said.
computers are now important things, its like a cellphone, telephone, its a gateway to the world, you can do so many things. what else can one do, what does the real world interaction bring anyway i'd rather do productive stuff on a computer than chat with friends .. anytime.
there's time for chat, but there's just so much to do on computers. like we're all here on computers.

Yeah, no i think if you want to work on your social phobia, its not much use to look for another computer game that keeps you away from social contact - doesn't sound like you can improve your phobia by avoiding contact to the reason of the phobia?

I don't dislike computer persons, but they tend to be hard to meet - except online, of course.

Well, maybe like training for a marathon, you wouldn't start training for one in the middle of the Boston Marathon with all of the other trained runners, would you? You'd start off at home around the block, or maybe on a treadmill at the gym, right?
