Vatican outlaws the ordination of female priests.

"According to published reports, the Vatican is soon to release
new norms that govern matters of sexual abuse by clergy. (Ho
hum—but wait, there’s more.) They are expected to include the
ordination of women under the delicta graviora, the same
category of grave sin that governs sexual abuse by priests. Cue the
music of doom!

It is hard to see
past the PR aspect of this to the theological. Mixing the two
issues, even under the same legal umbrella, is a profoundly
perverse proposition. Either these gentlemen are more ethically
tone deaf than one can imagine, or they are sly beyond the dreams
of foxes in an effort to redirect attention from the criminal
behavior of clergy against children to their wrath over the
ordination of women. Neither option is terribly
appealing........

According to the
Vatican official’s lights, the women, and the bishops who ordain
them, automatically excommunicate themselves."

Boy Oh boy. The
church doesn't seem to want to move out of the Dark
ages.

Any woman who says
she's an ordained priest is breaking religious laws.

Did "God" come up
with this one?

"The
church doesn't seem to want to move out of the dark
ages."

Honestly, neither
do a good chunk of its members, especially the women. At least,
this is what I've noticed to be true anecdotally. I was born and
raised Catholic (now recovering - ha) and in my family, when the
topic of having women priests come up, the Catholic women in my
family go berserk, that it's WRONG. The women don't even like for
readings to be done by women. They find the idea of a woman
preaching in church to be offensive. And the men? Well, the men
just sit there and don't say much, not really seeming to care.
Honestly, the women rule the roost in my family, always
have.

A coworker and I
were chatting about this topic a little today (we share similar
views) and he remarked that it seemed odd, but in families, the
person who is usually encouraging the family to go to church is the
mother. Yet the institution is sending the message that women are
inferior. Why would women perpetuate the very institution that
belittles them and makes them "less than" their male counterparts?
Where's the benefit, and what are they trying to
protect?

We can point
fingers at the powerful men that run the religious organizations
all day long, but it's the women who give them the power that they
wield. And until the mothers in the family vote with their feet by
taking their money (and their tithing) to another denomination, the
cycle will continue.

Hi
OBOTO!

Your right! Women
are just as responsible for their plight because they accept
it!

I often wonder the
same thing. Why so many women prefer to be secondary and balk at
other women taking primary positions of power besides the
traditional domestic ones.

Not all women luck
out with good partners/husbands,( I almost choke when i gotta use
that word) and the ones that do CAN be pretty comfortable whilst
they keep their sisters in check.

I think it's about
money too. Keep them poor, keep them down and in need of male
"leadership".

Maybe
it has to do with the inborn fear/loathing of things different than
ourselves. "Hey, that person did something different with her life
than I did... I do NOT approve."

Perhaps it's also
fear and distrust of ourselves, of the responsibility that comes
with power. Sometimes it's easier to relinquish control and
abdicate responsibility. It's scary to be the one "in charge",
especially if the consequences of failure are perceived to be
severe.

I
thought that ordaining female priests was always against the
Catholic rules. I guess I haven't been keeping up with that since i
left Catholicism and became a "Christian". (Yea, I am trying to
make a joke about it, please don't take it the wrong way. I used to
be Catholic, I left and became agnostic, Then learned about Jesus,
no denomination).

Yea,
perpetuating the divide between men & women. Misogynistic
bastards! If they outlawed the ordaining alltogether I doubt i'd
loose much sleep. It's past time to move past all of that darkaged
nonsense.

I
disagree with you about women in the ministry (for the most part,
at least). There is a verse in the bible that states that women
should be silent (1 tim 2 v 12 & 13 "But I do not allow a woman
to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For
it was Adam who was first created and then Eve"). As for the
liberation we supposedly have, we don't really. We are still second
calss citizens. As for the movement in the sixties, that was
orchestrated and funded by the Rockerfellers (see the Arron Russo
interview on youtube where he speaks of one of them blatently
admitting it)the reason was so they could tax the half of the
population that was not being taxt yet and so that they could get
the kids at a younger age for indoctrination. Y

I'll
check out that 'Russo' vid. Sounds like something a Rockefeller
would do. As always it's about the money.
