I have been listening to a 30 day series that Joyce Meyer is doing. This series was designed for individuals to make a 30 day committment to change their attitudes.

Trust was one of the issues she covered. She used herself as an example of someone who over the years had piled up a series of negative experiences that gave her an attitude of mistrust of men. She knew that God was showing her that her husband was to be the head of the household. She said she kept arguing with God about why should she trust David after everything she had been through in her life! How could He possibly ask her to do that!!????

She said that she remembers vividly where she was when God answered her (kinda like us old folks remember where we were when Elvis died, or to include the younger folks, when 9/11 happened).

God told her that He wasn't asking her to trust David... He was asking her to trust Him, as He did His work in David. Shew.... did that smack me in the face!

As I thought about it, I realized that I can apply that issue of non trust to many other relationships I have, and can see myself doing exactly the same thing.

I pray that sharing my experience with you will give you an opportunity to grow as well.

SS,

I love Joyce Meyer. She went thru a lot in her life. And yes, thouhg I do not trust men, even though I am single. I think the fact that we've all had relationships with men where they failed us and disappointed us; we find it hard to trust them.

That's why I believe we need to trust God when he asks us to do something.

Thanks for sharing!

~Love, RAS~

Oh believe me, this whole series she is doing, I am going to have to order. I am thankful for her website, where I can go back and listen to the message again, but eventually, those messages go away. This is one series, Attitudes of the Heart, and Attitudes of the Mind, I need to buy and listen to over and over again. She had one day in this series talking about pride. I truly never considered myself a prideful person until I heard that day's message... bam... big ole 2 x 4, whopped me good! I will have to listen to that one 3 or 4 times to make sure I got it.. cuz I certainly do not want to be a prideful person!

Trusting in God is easy to say, but once you really wrap your mind and heart around what that means, it's the hardest thing to actually DO. We want to maintain some sort of control in our own lives, when in actuality, our lives aren't our own...they're His.

In troubled times, my bf always says, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him what your plans are."

That puts things into perspective.

We also consider, before we give up our lives to God and make that decision to trust in him for everything, what our own sacrifices will need to be. "I'll have to give up this vice or that..."
But what many don't consider, is what you GAIN by placing that trust in God. The peace and comfort alone, that I experience now, is worth the leap. Nice post Spirit!

Just a couple of scriptures to go with this topic.

Psalm 49:12-13 But man, despite his riches, does not endue; he is like the beasts that perish. This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, wo approve their sayings.

Psalm 64:10 Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him!
