free2choose- I have a 6 year old buckskin paint. she is 12.3 hands. Perfect confirmation. I am still waiting for her to come. But I need time to get her stuff ready. I just feel bad cause of the heat. Guess I can get a mister or something to keep her cool.

Do you have a horse or dogs?

Destiny,

Funny about the gators, I thought they were coming out looking for more water, which partly I do think that's why we are seeing so many but last night on the news they said it is mating season, and they are full of themselves with aggressiveness....because of the fires, and because it is mating season... they have been forced out of their waterways out west to look for their mates, and find new homes. I think I'll keep my distance not that I havcen't always anyway, but at least now I know why it seems like there are so many of them out wondering the roads, and property's.

It's that time of the year for the dogs to be shedding too, with one of my dogs, a black lab I use a vacuum he loves it too... gets all the loose hair right off. LOL

I'm babysitting my Mother and Father's 7 month old dobie puppy this weekend, he's such a QT. He reminds me of a foal with the long legs, and still growing body.... I also kept all of our dogs names that they had previously, we ended up adopting all four of our dogs.... and we kept their names as they were...except for one, she's a blind great dane, and the previous owner told us that she didn't name her... she was about 10 months old when we adopted her or maybe I should say rescued her from a not so nice home...she has been with us now for 3 years and she's as sweet as can be. One of our other rescues took on the roll of a seeing eye dog for her, we put a bell on his collar after we realized that she was always trying to follow him around, which works out perfect. We always know where they are on our property because we can hear the bell, and she never get's lost anymore on our property.

Having Susie right next to your deck sounds like a great spot for you, now you can go out once she gets back home and you can sit and watch her, check on her so easily, I'm sure she will love it too! I can just see it now, she is going to be yelling for you everytime she see's you inside the house from her new paddock. Good idea with the cloth canapy for shade too.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother's day!

Hey Healing- I loved your idea about the vacuum. I knew there was a reason I came to this site.

Still havent heard when the pony will come. Still working on the shade cloth thing. Its getting warm here. I guess we have the green mojave rattle snakes looking for love in all the wrong places too.

My Sadie is knocking her food out of the bowl everyday and making a huge mess. So if she isnt eating it I remove it until she gets hungry enough to eat it when I put it down.

I took a window out of the door to her room so she can have adequate ventilation and installed a vent in the other door. Cause it gets hot out here.

Those minis make such cute pets I am surprised more people dont have em.

Destiny,

Tee hee, oh my I think I'd rather have the green gators then green rattle snakes looking for love in all the wrong places... at least tghe gators big enough and high enough off the ground we can see them coming when we need to.... Too bad you still don't live down here I think we would get along great, riding along the canals over by lion country safari.

I'll tell you all the time people ask me if we ever bring our mini's inside our house.. and the answer is no but we certainly could they go right into the hospitals, get on the elevators and in to differant wards. When my oldest daughter was about 12 years old I came home to her pony being in our living room.. and he wasn't exactly a small pony either 14 hands... I couldn't believe it, he was standing right in the middle of our living room, and my daughter and her friend said they brought him in because it was too hot outside to braid his mane... KIDS!

Sounds like Sadie is feeling at home now, so glad you were able to find her and give her a nice home... all animals are so funny with all they do.... the black lab lays down when he eats and every single time he takes his paw and dumps the bowl so that all the food is on the tile floor.. he is too lazy to even lift his head over the bowl... he's getting pretty old now so I let him do it.. yes we spoil all of our animals... ha ha

Healing_ I brought my fell pony inside someones house he was 10 hands and he peed right on their living room floor. No kidding. I was 14. This pony was my form of transportation. Rode him bareback everywhere. Running up and down the hills. Before the area got develped. The ponies name was Amos. I still have the same friend that used to ride with me when I was 13. She has my pony now. She had a Thorough bred. And we would ride that double with no saddle racing around everywhere. She has some big obnoxious horse that wears a muzzle cause he bites everyone and is viscious. She claims my first pony was so small that my feet almost touched the ground when I rode him. Ponies are strong for their size. If donkeys can pack adults why cant ponies?

I made my shader. I took the shade cloth and attached it to my deck then brought it across the back half of the corral and fastened it with tire wraps through the gromets onto the lower pipe. Of course the winds had to pick up and the thing was acting like a kite. But It does have nice shade that allows the breeze to come in. I plan to reinforce two sides with wood before winter comes to block the winds. What I dont understand are these metal shaders that stand way up high that allow the sun to come in during certain times of the day and let the rain come in all around. Like what is the point? I put up tarp and make a tent for my pony in the winter and rain. She actually crawls inside. Wish I could afford a barn.

Destiny,

Happy Mother's Day, I hope you have a wonderful day... So my daughter wasn't the only one to bring her pony inside the house.. too funny, yours peed on the floor. I could only imagine the mops coming out... I remember when I was really young riding my first horse bareback everywhere around where we kept her, and all my friends would come out to ride with my sister and I.... there were rock pits that were like huge clear lakes and we would ride to the lakes and ride the horses right into the lakes, their stomachs would blow up and they were like rafts in a way.

Those were the days, riding with your bathing suit top on with a pair of jean cut off shorts... no cares in the world.

Healing & Peace- Happy Mothers day to you 2!. I am looking at my pipe corral from my bedroom window with the beige shade cloth like a pregnant mom waiting for her baby to arrive.

I still wonder if Susie is pregnant. If she is she will have the baby in November.

I used to go horse back riding half dressed in 100 degree weather. We rode in Sand pits. Always running the horses up every hill we saw. Bareback cause who could afford a saddle. Real riders ride bareback. Plus I think it is safer if you get thrown not to be caught up in equipment. I also think that saddles, cinches, etc. can be uncomfortable for horses.

I have nothing but open land surrounding me. The kids hate it, but when it comes to riding no streets to have to deal with. I would always worry about traffic. When I was younger I saw a horse that had been hit by a car. The only thing we have to deal with are off roaders. I liked the law in florida making it illegal for a motorized vehicle to scare a horse. I remember all those canals in Florida. And mosquitos. We have no mosquitos out here.

Susie is here. She is right outside my front door. She came in from a long ride calm as can be. We have ridden her twice. The first time my son got on her a Bee stung her on the head and she got excited. My pit bull at first stood in the window and growled at her. But I took the pit up to pony today and she looked up to her trying to figure her out. I have been enjoying weather in the 80's cause it will be blazing hot over 100 soon. Thank you for asking. How is your 4 legged family?

Healing and Peace- My friend who had her in a corral with 2 other geldings said she came into season so I would have to say between that and the way she looks no she doesnt look pregnant. She looks really good. I hope she isnt pregnant. The man who bred her tried to charge me a breeding fee and I said no. Good thing. When I first got her they said they tried to breed her to a mini. But thankfully she wasnt pregnant.

It doesn't sound like she is if she came into season twice already... So is she looking into the house yet, like HEY COME ON OUT type of look?

Too funny that she's that close to your house, but I think it's great.

I'm sitting here waiting for my daughters to get here to take them both out to dinner, hope you have a wonderful evening and weekend.

Healing and Peace- It is nice to have her close to the house so she can have more contact with us. The disadvantage is the flies. The weather here has been in the 80's. It gets kind of rough when it gets in the 100's. My daughter wants me to visit her but she is like 8 hours a way. I hate to travel in the summer cause it gets so hot here. Today is my grand daughters Birthday party.

Happy Birthday to your G-daughter, I don't think I'd want to drive eight hours away either.....but I also understand her wanting you to come visit... tough spot to be in for you.

You might want to get some Skin So Soft from Avon and wipe Susie down with it, works great as a cheaper fly spray for horses.. also there is something else that you can put down in corral area and around it that will reduce the flys.. I will get the name of it for you... and let you know. I don't do the ordering for the stables, but I know we have this new stuff that works great. Everyone is complaining that the flys are worse this year then privious years... don't know why, or what is causing it, but I know they are worse this year here too.

Healing and Peace- We had snow 3 times this year up here. Usually we have snow one time every couple of years. Maybe it is due to extra moisture. We have been having high winds up here. I had a huge gust of wind come my way and the pony didnt bat an eye just planted her feet and keep walking head on into it towards home. I will try SSS. I try to spread the manure. One good thing is this area is so arid it drys quickly. Hard to keep hay here with all the wind so I use pellets. I saw a really cool thing 5 men on horses in the Walmart shopping center with black hats and Black T shirts on that said THE BLACK COWBOYS on the back. One was on a beautiful Arabian and the other horses looked nice. Sure looked like they were having fun. Loved it. The B day party was fun. Big Pinata broke open and everyone OD'd on sugar.

Oh the one thing I dont care for is all the off roaders. GRRRRRRRRRRR.

Hi. Thank you for thinking of me. My daughter is OK. I dont hear from her much. Cause her focus is on the father of her baby who has been accepting her collect calls, sending care packages, and putting money on her books. I guess he plans to take the baby. I just sent her some money and stamps like I do once a month. She is far away from me like over 400 miles. I will visit her when I can.

Pony keeps my sanity. I ride her everday like at 6:30 in the morning before the heat comes in. Making sure I dont spont any rattle snakes. The ground here is hard and stony. So she walks like a turtle. Head down, very quiet. We went up a steep hill, but I worry about her slipping going down. Hard to find a breast plate and a back cinch for trails cause she is an uncommon size 12.3 hands and everything is made for horses. I also have to dodge the cactus. Sure wouldnt want to wind up on one.

She pees a lot. Like a lake and it makes a big hole that I have to bail out everyday. Any suggestions?

How is Florida? Any rain, I saw some pictures of Loxahatchee on Realtor. com looks unusually dry.

((( Destiny ))) (((Bro)))

I truly can't give any advise on peeing!!! She is one of those I suppose that drinks a lot and pee's a lot.. Ha ha ha. The only thing you could do is get some rubber matts and put them in her paddock then cover with shavings.. at least you won't be digging to China to get the pee spots out.

The weather here as been wonderful, we started getting rain 15 days ago, and everyday since it's been raining at least once a day in the afternoons. We went out into the ocean this past weekend and it was beautiful... the water was like glass.

How are you doing Cary? Haven't talked to you much lately?

Peace to you both, Healing and Peace

Caraway- Hey how are U pardner? How is your man and his kids? I just read an article that reminded me of your situation with his adult children.

Your man needs to forsake his dysfunctional relationship with his kids. And not even take his calls if he wants things to change. I feel bad for you being an innocent bystander in the whole situation.

Please fill me in on the latest. Always nice to hear from a classy person such as yourself.

Healing and Peace- Yep, need a rubber mat. Then of course she will just find a new place to pee so it wont splatter. We are bailing out buckets twice a day. Glad to hear about the rain. We have had several storms pass over bringing in high winds and a few sprays, some lightening. Thats why it is the desert.

I just saw my neighbor walk the cutest buckskin mini by my house. She had him on driving reins. She has a baby and a toddler. She is probably trainging the mini for them to ride. Should be adorable to watch.

I bought a dig. camera. Took some pics on it and I am trying to figure out how to up load them from a cable onto my computer. They are of my pony and my son.

I put a very expensive fly mask on my pony and I came home and found it hanging on a screw that was attached to one of the clamps. Guess she rubbed it off and tore it. GRRRR. She is such a gremlin.

All night long she kicks her water can even though its full. I guess she gets bored.

((Destiny and Big SIS)),

Things are bout the same here. He has moved in with me and we are trying to adjust....

The children continue to amaze and disappoint with their thoughtless ways. I have accepted that things will never change and that I am going to enjoy the realtionship for as long as possible, but that forever isn't in the picture.

I am ready for the WEEKEND! Going to a wine tasting tonight and a little 2 stepping tomorrow night.

Caraway- 2 stepping how fun. I tried it once. At this genuine cowboy bar. What kind of shoes or boots do you wear?

My step daughter was the DEAL breaker. The situation with her and her dad is real sick and dysfunctional. You have no idea.

I give you credit for having the strength to over look it. I think emotionally you are much stronger than I am.

This weekend I am doing some remodeling in my home. My son started to paint my laundry room a ketchup color. It is wild. But I have to like complete the job and clean up the mess.

Destiny,

How's that ketchup room looking? Two-stepping is always fun and folks who enjoy it seem to always be nice folks. I have several pair of traditional cowboy boots and hats.

I think I've mentioned to you that the step daughter is the issue here as well. The boys are easier to deal with and seem to want their Dad to be happy. The girl is just phony and a user (shows up when she wants something).

What are you doing for fun these days?

cary
