wd-i cant believe u caught my response. 🙂 i was just thinking when it gets late, whoever is up usually veers the threads. we seem to get more creative and explore more topics then. yes, it probably would be polite to change the thread but often it gets going and the mood or topic changes to quick to think about moving. that's MY excuse anyway. ha ha. i know i have been quilty of veering sometimes. 😉

You know, I don't think the veering off topic is such a big deal. What bothers me most about some threads is that two posters will banter back and forth, with total disregard for someone else who might come in and post their thoughts or feelings. When I find this happening, and it happens often, I leave that thread and will not post there again. Unfortunately, those 2 posters are exluding the insight and ideas that someone might have...their loss, I guess. But I think that is poor etiquette, and something I see happening here a lot. IMHO.

ready,

I feel uneasy when I see two people dominating a thread. I usually won't post because I figure they're having a private discussion and don't want any outsiders, even though I know there are technically no private discussions here. It doesn't particularly bother me, however, unless it's a thread I started and still care about.

Thanks for your thoughts.

well, I'm glad others see this happening and it makes them uncomfortable. Actually, I have no problems with threads that are dominated by two people...I happen to be involved in a thread like that, simply because no one else responded to this particular individual when she first arrived here, and I've kept a relationship with her on the same thread. I would LOVE it if someone else came into this thread, because at times I frankly cannot relate to what she is going through, and don't know what to say. But no one does. My problem is when I do choose to post on a particular thread that seems dominated by 2 or 3 people, and my post is totally ignored. When it happens, I just move on. I just feel if we all responded to everyone who posted on our threads, we would learn so much more! Thanks for your concern, guppy and seeker...

ready-dont get me wrong. i see no problem with two or three people conversing. some people just click better. if u just sit back and read the convo. u can learn alot about the other people on here. 😉

i'm just sorry u are feeling slighted. it's good that u spoke out. now i will make a concious effort to reply when i see u on a thread i am reading. :0

Some threads turn into a chat room of sorts.

Sometimes this irritates me, sometimes it does not.

The Nice Guy thread on this side of the board is a thread where Dave and I talk to eachother. It is almost always only him and I posting, but anyone can read what we are talking about, and chime in if they would like, it would not bother me.

I am just mostly like, whatever. We are here to talk. If I would make a thread about a topic that I really wante to stick to the topic and someone or two or three completely changed the topic or hijacked it and used it as a chat room, well I would just make a new thread!

Thats just me.

free...I have actually posted on that thread you're talking about, and both you and Dave responded to me. I really don't keep track of which thread it happens on...I just find that if I post once or twice and no one responds to me, they don't want me around so I leave. I find most people here to be very open and caring, and I just stick to those threads. I don't really feel "slighted", I just think people could learn so much more if they would open up to more people. But, they may have their own reasons for keeping their threads to just a few people.
