Wow,
bevdee, I've never heard of them infesting a place like that. They
sure are ugly creatures. Looks like they would smell
too!

And here I was
upset this morning when I found a spider in my coffee
cup.

..
ROCK N ROLLLLLLL!

:0)

I went to see Hugh
Cornwell last night ( Stranglers lead man) He had Clem Burke on
Drums, ( Blondie) and they played so many Stranglers tunes: Hangin
Around, Peaches, No More Hero's, Golden Brown. D knows all their
line up. I feel so adrenalized still. ( it's raining today so I'm
skipping work, hehe)What a show! The whole place was dancing like it
was the 80's again. All us middle aged dinosaurs.Clem sure can pump
out those beats. We were near the stage, by a fire exit and Hugh
kept yelling to open the door. That's "illegal" SO WHAT! Then the
cops showed up and one was very pushy and defensive. He was angrilly
staring people down. The other looked like a Maori Warrior ( New
Zealand) and he was really cool. Goo dthing they finally left. They
had the paddy Wagon.

If the worlds
gonna end I'm having a good time whilst it slowly circles the drain
then takes the final plunge like a marble. ;0)

Possums are
disgusting thangs. They've migrated up into southern Ontario
since the 70's.

Typical nocturnal
sneaky creatures. Their stillness can be tricky. I had one under my
porch once when i was trying to access some Garden tools. It must
of slinked down from the "rafters" and sat on the garbage can
perfectly still, while i rummaged about. I was face to face with
the thing when i noticed it. Completely still it was: ghostly
face, stone coal eyes. I almost felt like petting the thing, but
they are VICIOUS!

Play Possum, til u
get close enough.

I have a basement
full of spiders now due to the long hot summer. At least they are
"Daddy Long Legs" and keep the insect population down. It's cobweb
city in the rafters.

Every day could be
Halloween here. I'm ok with that, ahahaha.

TGIF! I'm gonna
party all weekend. last weekend when we had a "tame civilized"
Halloween Party, my son and his freinds lit a fire, my neighbor
called the Fire dept, so i promptly got a PERMIT! ( the firemen
said our pit was perfectly safe and didn't understand WHY jerk off
would call.HA! EVERYONE understands having that one A'hole
neighbour) We're within city limits but this stretch of properties
are allowed permits and they're only 10 bucks for a
year.

We're having
friends over for a nice bonfire Sat night. ;0) YUP! we'll spend all
day with chainsaws, cutting up wood, then give our nosey neighbour
a nice finale of flames for a few hours. Perhaps we'll Jam outide
and make noise. ( can do that up til 11pm)It will drive him NUTS
seeing a crowd of us out there having a good time.
MUAHHahahaha.

Ya'll can figure
out what will happen next!? Perhaps he'll get a fine for making
unnecessary calls and wasting tax payer dollars. It's not like he
works or contributes anything but major headaches to anyone who
gets close. Sucks to be him or the idiots that live with
him.

We are
entertaining ourselves with his reactions. Better than getting into
a yelling match. We want to play with him like a cat does a mouse.
hehe

Gawd I'm full of
mischief!Hope ya'll are TOO!

Be
well!

sdesigns,

It's because I
live so far out in a heavily wooded area by the lake, it's getting
colder, and another old dog is gone. I had to put him down about a
year ago. He used to get under the house and flush them out.
Sometimes he barked all night, but I never saw one near the house.
Coons either.

Yeah, it was a bad
couple of nights. MsG, they are ugly! Those rings around their eyes
and those hell talons. That big ugly rat tail. I can't believe I'm
going to say this, but I felt more violated than when
someone broke in my car last month and stole my CDs.

bevdee.

Stolen cds is
different than breathing in Possum POO_Dust, dander, having a
living thing pollute your living space with airborn particulate. I
have allergies with some animals so i totally get the violation
thing.

Subtle but
violating for sure!

My dog looks
tough, has a mean warning bark and stance, but he's a pretty
useless watchdog if the situation got real. Sqirrel
chaser.

Kinda like D. But
I'm the QUEEN BITCH!LMAO! :0O

That's some dog family u got there. Z. So they won't starve if
u happen to "disappear?" U CAN'T. You're part of the pack and they
will mourn. ;0)

Wish my dog would
hunt but we gotta serve up the food (home made) for the pampered
galoot. He's a Rotti_ Lab X ( Rot_ador Or Labweiler)

Ok. Time to start
a dog thread.

Hey
folks,

Interesting
discussion here.

Opossums hate the
smell of ammonia, so what you did with the ammonia will keep them
away until it goes away, then just re-ammonia the area as needed.
You should also consider if you are leaving out pet food or
garbage, it will continue to attract them. Cat food was a sure way
to capture opossums in my live traps, regardless if they were the
target species for capture.

They are the only
marsupial native to North America, so they are like our version of
the kangaroos, koalas or wombats of Austrailia. I have worked with
and handled hundreds of opossums even taken in injured and orphaned
ones, made them better and released them into my yard or the
wildlife areas where I have worked.

Here is a link
with more opossum tips and facts than you probably care to have
access to.
http://www.opossumsocietyus.or.....stions.htm

I love opossums
and just had to chime in on their behalf. They are nature's garbage
collectors, without them and the other species that share their
niche, the habitat would be littered with rotting vegetation and
dead animals. They are great at keeping habitats clean and when
kept in captivity are clean and tidy. They can up a good show of
acting vicious with an open hissing mouth, and if they bite it does
rip skin and hurt, but they are really very scared and timid. They
often faint/play dead when overwhelmed with fear, which makes them
easy to scoop into a box and move to a better location.

Their low body
temperature makes them less likely to carry diseases that other
wild mammals and pets typically carry.

Unfortunately our
contemporary way of life sometimes conflicts with their traditional
place in the universe. We have shifted our place in the world which
has caused conflict with all of nature. So often it is the critters
that are blamed and take the brunt of our species's
changes.

I am honored to
have a family of opossums sharing my property. They keep my orchard
clean and eat up all the fallen avacados, bananas and citrus as
well as many of the pestery insects and grubs that would cause
problems for my fruits and veggies. So I don't have to mess with it
because they do it for me. I do have to keep my petfood indoors and
occasionally evict an opossum from the house that comes in through
the doggie door.

Well,
I guess I can thank my WranglerButt for the ammonia tip. So far
it's working. I'm sure possums have their place in the ecosystem,
but the inside of my house isn't part of that. It's a sanctuary
from that. I know they have fleas. Where I lived before, I had
possums hang out under my deck every winter. I could hear them
clawing and scratching under the bathtub every night. I would see
fleas in the bathtub. When my Boxer found one under the deck,
sniffed it through the latticework, she scratched the piss outa his
nose. I don't want them in my house. I'll never get a pet door for
that reason. This possum outweighed my little chihuahua by 20 lbs,
I bet. .

Chelonia, I have a
question. This happened on a Monday. Friday, I peeled pears to make
crock pot pear butter, which takes a couple of days in the crock. I
bagged up the peels, and took them out to the dumpster at the road,
but might have tossed some cores in the inside trash. I don't have
a garbage disposal. Do you think this (smell?) might have drawn the
Possum to come in the house?

Bevdee, yes opossums have a great sense of smell with poor
eyesite and hearing. Since they don't usually hunt (except for
insects such as roaches) they rely on their smell to find their
meals. One of their favorite foods is rotting fruit. They actually
prefer rotting to fresh fruit, so the time line on the pear peels
is about right for an opossum feast.

Their sensitive
smell is also the reason that ammonia is so offensive to
them.

Thanks Chelonia. I'll be more careful next time, AND I have
plenty of AMMO...nia. I hate breathing that stuff, too. I have a
couple more bushels of pears coming to me, a couple more batches of
pear butter to make. I don't want to have possums in the house
every time I make it, or possum flashbacks every time I eat some of
it. :~)

hi
andee, nice to see you on here:) I think it will end because of a
third world war, too much is going on and too much is out of
control, I am sorry to be a bummer here, but I do think it will
very soon. Meaning in our lifetime.

dandii,

How ya been??
Flown any aircrafts into any mosques lately? Just thinkin...I may
not really want to be around when all of the sh*t hits the fan in
society so, subsequently, I'd like to buy a ticket, if I may, &
join you if you decide to 'go for it'. Go out with a bang, ya
know?!

T'would be an
exciting exit if nothing else?

1 provision tho:
It has to be an evil extremist type mosque.

You doing alright?
Wise words you've offered bfg. Enjoying what we have/appreciation -
so key to finding some measure of that somewhat elusive
'serenity'.

Hi all! The world
ended, for a few days then it got resuscitated, so to
speak.

My PC crashed and
i got it rebuilt actually. I didn't write down my password for AAC,
busied myself with work, re installing programs, setting up my
important files and some issues at home. Positive and negative ;0/
( had some unfortunate stress from the neighbour again) We may have
to resort to litigation. I am consulting with my paralegal. All is
very well with my family: son, partner, dog, Gecko ( LOL) and i
have a few friends who are around. AND it wasn't til today I tried
to log in again. Only due to queries.

Otherwise i just
assume be on my merry way. I do have some problems, my neck is
bothering me so THAT is a sign i need to simplify, eradicate some
stressors. I have the usual seasonal change fatigue. My whole
journey is about positive mutual reciprocity and that
becomes very inconsistent in this environment. iT's hard for
everyone who tries to stay the course of true recovery. I like to
deal with my problems head on so i can move beyond, find better
solutions, but vitrioleic attacks, with no apologies, repel me.
There's no forum leadership or moderation here. My PC crashing was
a message from the universe"!!HA! Also the computers age and my son
caused the crash by downloading some crap.

I'm so grateful to
my techie!! Cool guy!

Grateful to the
kind folks who keep trying here. Thanks for caring and posting
something direct to me, ChromeMagnum and andii. :0)

Not Moose Hunting
but soul mining or opting ofr soothing passtimes instead. If my
Neighbour goes outside long enough i got a paintball gun....GEEZ i
would just LOVE unloading a canister of YELLOW balls on his
persona.LOL ;0)

Plus i need a
break from the "therapy" forums.

I'm in action
mode. Forgive my ambivalence toward AAC?! It is what it
is.

Well My son and i
are going to embark on this properties Fall cleanup now. I need
some fresh air and exercise then next week i work with my
electrician putting up Xmas decorations around these townships! JOY
to the WORLD! Peace on EARTH!ahahaha

Be Well! ((((all
of us))))

Hey
MsG,

I know what you're
saying about needing a break from therapy (forums). It IS important
to look deeply within, but at a certain point, you'll know when you
need to come up and out. For air, to live life ...

That's been the
case for me. Too much of anything can take a toll, even
introspection.
