1)

As a doormat, I am admit that I am powerless to do anything about those muddy boots. As a human being, however, I can insist that you take off your shoes before you come into the house.

4)

In likely the event that you disregard all previous civilized requests and boundary setting attempts and choose to stomp on me anyhow in your arrogant sense of self-righteous entitlement to track your mud all through my house, I hereby as an honorary past doormat of the year reserve the right to devour your tromping ass and spit you out on the curb for the trash man to haul to the dump with all the other maggot-infested rubbish.

lol, twinks, I guess so. Guess this hit a a button or something- big button, launched me right into orbit. I hate feeling like a doormat. I hate being a doormat. I'm sick of it. Sometimes I feel like I use every civilized way of asserting myself and some people just tackle me to the ground and stomp all over the place anyways and I just wanna punch 'em in the nose.

Enough of the "poor free" scenario. I hate equally well when I'm having my own little pity party, too. This is a cool thread idea. I don't really know the 12 step recovery process, but I think step 5 has something to do with the moral rights or wrongs- picked that up on a thread in the support section.

ideas?

How do you stop being a doormat? I have been afraid of losing the person, afraid to not do what I want, afraid of being alone, just afraid of it all. I have let this ex bf use and abuse me for almost 2 years. What can I do to try to be happy without him, and to try and stand up for myself, and value myself by myself?

jul,

please come over to the support threads - there are many more people there, repost your question and get some feedback.
