A very wise Lama traveled from the East to meet a Native American Shaman.

He asked: "Please now tell me how your people speak of Spirit?"

The Shaman said "My tribe, my people, we do not have a separate word for Spirit. We can only Be Spirit."

The Lama's face burst into a wide grin and he said to the Shaman: "You are my friend!"

"And YOU my friend are a doorknob for believing in me", replied the Shaman with a grin.

Hi Guest,

The story is a Teaching that I received.

Contemplation of the story exercises the mind and the heart.

Yea. Vague, exactly. WD likes to be "intellectual" and "deep" and all that balooney.

WD, focus on the basics. What are you trying to say?

A teaching that you received from where? UPS? Parcel post? What? Looks like a late delivery to me and on the wrong address as well.

The trouble with modern Americans is that they want instant gratification.

Three minute music videos.

Microwave popcorn.

Sex on the first date.

Some stories are useful in and of themselves. They help you think, get you studying...

Like sit-ups are good for you.

To be indwelled by the Spirit rather than see it as something outside of yourself. And if Lama is indwelled with the Spirit, then he will have more in common with Shaman if Shaman is as well.

Hi OMW,

Yes, that direction.

The esoteric impulse--to transform understanding of spirit from a mere "word," something abstract and outside of us, perhaps in the sky somewhere, to something very real and immediate.

Replace the word Spirit by Tallywhacker and the true meaning of this folklore comes out:

---------------------

A very wise Lama traveled from the East to meet a Native American Shaman.

He asked: "Please now tell me how your people speak of Tallywhacker?"

The Shaman said "My tribe, my people, we do not have a separate word for Tallywhacker. We can only Be Tallywhacker."

The Lama's face burst into a wide grin and he said to the Shaman: "You are my friend!"

-------------------------

Hmm, interesting.

Hi Guest,

Have you ever considered talking to a therapist about your problem with verbal abuse?

Oh ... guest_guest you are such a naughty boy for stirring up the pot. 🙂

At least you are getting the attention that you crave. But does it permanently satisfy you or does it lead to further suffering for you? That for you is an important question, I feel.

I suppose you could replace "talleywhacker" with "Aunt Jemimas Reduced Carbohydrate Maple Syrup."

I haven't forgotten.
