Everything is continuously changing. Life is like a river flowing on and on, ever-changing. Sometimes it flows slowly and sometimes swiftly. It is smooth and gentle in some places, but later on snags and rocks crop up out of nowhere. As soon as we think we are safe, something unexpected happens.

What I struggle with is being okay with this, being content to be on the river. I want the pauses. I have always needed the moments of respite, the times when everything is the same, at least for a while.

They were treasured moments foe me in my father's home, because I had no control over the atmosphere, my father, nothinng. I need to accept this as an eternal, unchanging fact.

JW,

I understand what you mean. Sometmes I just want to sit back and just 'veg out' for awhile, and let things be and "Leave me alone! Don't bother me!" We all need quite time, some solitude and this is healthy for us.

Did you see my poem I posted for you to look at? It reminded me from what you were saying. While sitting on my river bank, I was just being calm and enjoying nature when this motorboat came by, roaring with it's steel blades cutting into the river. It annoyed my moment of solitude.

There is much drama and events in life we have no recourse. They happen. Sometimes we can take action to work it thru. Then there are other times where we just have to wait for them to run their course before the peace returns.
