I made a boo-boo somewhere.(posted this info on other threads)
The Doctor who is is involved in the psychological/physical aspect of brain repair ( uses mental imaging techniques to re-wire parts of the brain) is Dr. Alvaro Pascual-Leone

His findings prove scientifically the same aspects many use to achieve peace ansd success Namely, The Secret, affirmations, manifesting, meditation, etc.

No it's not guest..it works for everyone.
What do you want to improve?
What are your mental weakness's and psychological issues?

The Change your brain series has a section about children with learning disabilities, and some computer programs that help them re-wire their brains so they regain their abilities to process information.
It isn't just about our mental IQ, but our moods.

It's all cognitive. Moods can change with visualizations and affirmations alone, without drugs But with moods you ahve to balance the mental with physical. You have to exercise. Sedentary lifestyles perpetuate and cause depression......if moods are effected by brain injury there are excercises that treat the injury also...it's just limitless what doctors and scientists are finding out.

Say I want to... stop constantly being afraid of people. Thats pretty much it. Also I want to have so much positive energy that I'm always positive towards people, no questions asked. Any video to help with that? I stopped at the 3rd, when it continued talking about old age.

Oh the "Change your brain", I didnt like the speaker.

OMg, look I was right. I hate this guy, I'm sorry. He's a quack.

Daniel G. Amen - Criticism

>> In 2005, on Quackwatch.org[6] a nonprofit that investigates health-related frauds, myths, fads and fallacies, Dr. Harriet Hall, a retired family physician, outlined some concerns; "Amen's recommendations defy science, common sense and logic. I feel much worse about him now than I did when I wrote the piece because I went back and looked at his Web site again, and I'm just appalled by some of the things that are on it now. He's selling vitamin supplements and he's selling his own line of products. He's turned into big business." According to its Web site, Amen Clinics charges $3,250 for a "comprehensive evaluation," which includes the patient's history, two SPECT scans, a physician consultation, and a 30-minute treatment follow-up appointment. Follow-up scans after treatment are $795 each".

This is sad. Anyway.... what about the other links, the PBS series - that is genuine.

You know, I watched something on TV. They put probes in the brain and it made the person laugh. Thats the radical change I want. One day it will be possible.

I'll check out those PBS videos more.

Dont buy into anything Daniel Amen is saying, this guy only wants to make money. And when you have Quackwatch criticize you, thats it, you've lost it.

I see it like this - if something wonderful really worked, scientists would tell us.

Oh well. one day we will see it!

I posted about the Nature of Things series not what you posted, and there is no Dr. Amen in that series.

Don't worry I have a very good BS, or "Quack" detector.

Regardless....this is a new science, and as in everything in life you have to weed out what is useful or not.

You're the one focusing on "Dr. Amen". I'm not even interested in him whatsoever.

Dr Pascual Leone, and Dr. Barbara Arrowsmith Young are who interest me now.

http://www.arrowsmithschool.or.....dialup.htm

Discounting the whole science of Neuroplasticity because of one "quack" is just an example of not following through, or allowing one thing to sabotage moving ahead.

Overcoming small obstacles allow us to reep the benefits of our goals whatever they may be.

What you visualize and focus on will happen. If you put most of your focus and energy into negative things, screw ups, then that's what will happen. You'll get that back from people too.

Failure is always eminent.

I'm not going to psychoanalize you but this is the same thing that seems to play out quite a bit with you, and somehow you have to find a way to deal with this self sabotaging element contained in your mind.

Oh come on, you're over reacting. I didnt discount "the whole science of neuroplasticity", otherwise I would not have said that the PBS series is geniune, correct? I'm aware of neuroplasticity, I'm not questioning it. I was ONLY questioning that Daniel Amen, and you know that.

Why dont you look at yourself and ask yourself why you overreacted. Good grief, phewwww. Whats the problem with people?

Its like you took the whole thing personally and got offensive, hello? wtf?

Anyway, whatever. Thanks for attacking me personally for nothing. I'm not going to be speaking to you again and I guess you're glad I'm not. Good luck.

Look.I didn't mean to "attack" you.....what i wrote there applies to everyone who suffers pain and disappointment in their lives.

I had a stroke at 26, am half blind( no eyesight in left eye) and a head injury, and an f'd up family GDI!!!

Every day in the real world I have to hide my weakness's, because people will take advantage, or treat me with pity. People don't see my weakness's until I forget a name, ( somebody i should know) or an event, it's always words, and i used to have a better vocab than now, or i miss a ball thrown my way..yea....i have trouble with spacial judgement. I have to be very careful driving, because it is part of my livelihood. I had to relearn depth perception.

I don't want people feeling sorry for me, and it's hard to take the mask off here. But there ya go.....You've been giving me a hard time since the first day i said anything to you...basically called me stupid.

I have not hidden the fact I suffer from depression. I work hard on keeping myself lifted with positive things, take care of myself, my diet, my kid, my partner, our pets,a beautiful dog who has a nerve disease, my customers. I don't drink or take any drugs. I'm not an addict..and i try to be good to people.

It's a damn struggle every day and the only thing that makes it easier is I choose to focus more on finding a cure for my brain weakness's and being good to people by respecting what they hold dear, what gets them through the day... and laugh a little...try and get people to laugh sometimes. Make them feel good.

Destructive people trigger me, yea, there ya go.

It's been a long struggle regaining what I lost, getting to where I am now..and I too am still raw.

Do you think I enjoy hurting people, or getting angry? I hate it! I try to avoid what brings that out in me.

But you come to me, and start with your BS.I'm not patient with that...there are others.

I may disagree with some here, but I don't search them out in their threads and cause strife, unless a thread is geared at debate, in libs, and the subject is open to it...usually a question mark is the indication, and i will get down n dirty sometimes...but i try not to namecall posters.

Learning to respect peoples boundaries and peace, and knowing when it's ok when to challenge.

What is your diagnosis? and how are you going to get beyond your weakness's ?

By pricking peoples balloons? You like helping people crash, who are sick or looking for inspiration ?

You get off on it? I suppose you'll have another haughty self serving response.

You like those?

Ye.I think I'll go pet my dog,....cause he deserves some attention, and he doesn't bite, or tear up my personal belongings when he feels bad....he knows enough to put his head on my lap, and inspire me to go out for a walk.......a good long one in the woods, where we can be free and breath the crisp air......much better than destroying something.

Ye...goodnight!

Good on you with your ongoing rehab, and thanks for posting that info. "Nature of Things" is usually pretty well-researched, I believe.

Maybe they'll cover some of that stuff on "Quirks and Quarks" or "Ideas" as well (I tend to listen to radio more than I watch TV).

Definitely an area I am interested in learning more about.

take care,
kroiks

ok MsG,

I'm sorry if I "basically called you stupid" the first time we talked. I dont know what happened and what you said. I couldnt remember what happened but you obviously do. I replied here to your posts with a clean slate. I had no biases. I evaluated the links honestly and gave my honest opinions and warned you about the quack. Thats all I did. Sorry about the problems you're facing, that sucks, but I have to say there is never a reason for anyone to lash out at anyone else. You have to take responsibility for what you did. And you can read the replies above again - I said nothing offensive to you at all.

Heck I even made links for the videos on your posts. If I came here with a negative attitutude towards you, do you think I'd care about replying to your post? So thats not true. Anyway. I wish you good luck in dealing with your problems and yes ofcourse I'm not perfect. I have my own load of laundry but in this case I did'nt do anything bad. Good luck to you (and me), I hope you feel better.

Thanks for the link to the Nature of Things on YouTube. That show on neuroplasticity was amazing!

The segment about the phantom limb sensation and mirror neurons was particularly interesting - also what the 'docspert' (doc + expert) said about how it implies that we need to take care what we think about. My mother promoted this idea to me forty years ago when she talked about "mental furniture" and how we need to be selective about what we furnish our mind with. Now the scientists are corroborating that with neuroscience.

Much to think about. Thanks again for sharing it here.

(((Craigco and kroika)))

I'm glad the subject of neuroplasticity interests you.

The series covered the different aspects of brain function, and since everyone here has something "wrong", struggles they face that may be physical ailments or mental ones, It's always how we deal with them that counts.
I don't believe in pharm medications. One woman in that series had her sense of balance destroyed due to medication!

I really believe cognitive therapy is best . In my case positive affirmations, exercise, good diet and supplements for depression and I'm going to look for a good a good mental strengthening exercise program for the computer. Brain teasers and tests to increase my memory and mental functions.

((Guest_guest)).....You're a smart guy. Just take care of yourself the best you can, on all levels. Do the laundry regularly so it doesn't pile up, get overwhelming, and start to stink! HA!
You have a level of intelligence that can take you far in life.

I appreciate the help with links
