I am going through a difficult time right now and am trying to keep my faith as strong as I can and trust in the Lord that everything will turn out fine. I know that through the grace of God we boast in the hope of the glory of God but we are also to glory in our sufferings and this is where I am having problems.
I have a special needs child who is quite complex and I was the sole caregiver for about 10 years. My first husband emotionally abandoned us when our son was born and I asked him to leave when he was 4. I met a wonderful man about a year and a half ago and we were married a year ago. The ten years of caring for my son finally caught up with me and I had a breakdown just before our first anniversary. Right now I can't care for my son and won't be able to for at least 6 weeks and we need to find a home for him. I have asked gov't agencies, friends, churches, schools, etc. but no-one has stepped forward to help us with our son.

My husband works in a Ministry Position in a Bible Camp and is extremely busy at this time of the year so can't take the time off work and me move out so that option isn't there.

I just don't get why this suffering keeps on going on and on? All that I want is a safe home for my son. I pray for it all the time and have complete trust and faith that it will happen but am impatient with the when. Why does it hurt so much?

CD Mommy, I can answer you best on this side. Everything will turn out for the best. You can rest on that. Are you involved in a church. Can your church help defray some of the cost of the care of your son. Can you move into treatment and have your son stay at home with people coming in to give care. Surely there is some sort of govt assistance for this. Your church needs to step up to the plate and help you.

I say this as a Christian who for many years attended a church with a Parish Nursing Program where the church provided a nurse on a volunteer bases to coordinate care, a pharmacist to check meds, a cooking ministry to provide food to those in need, etc.

As I told you on the other side, Jesus' command to love our neighbors as ourselves had the unspoken words that we had to first love ourselves before we could love someone else that way. TAKE CARE OF YOU AND THE REST WILL FALL INTO PLACE.

Oh Yeah, that phrase "God never gives you more than you can handle" ticks me off as well. You can handle this but you have to have some help and God can provide that...

Hi CD_Mommy,

I am so sorry to hear about your struggles. I was reading bible this morning. About faith and hope.
It seems to fit exactly what you are talking about. I pray it minister to you.

Hewbrews, 6:18-19

That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,

So as you can see the bible tells us our hope in Jesus Christ is not just merely being optimistic but it is stead fast and sure. And anchor for the soul. (Dont you just love it !!)

Beleivers in Christ Jesus, look forward with hope, to the joy of being with Chirst in glory forever. Faith is defined as the " substance of things hoped for" (Heb. 11-1) because the invisble things hoped for in the future are grasped through faith. Hope is certain!

According to the Bible, Chirst is our hope (1 Tim 1:1) and our God is called
" the God of hope" (Rom 15:13)
Hope calls us to be patient (Rom 8:25). Hope gives strength and confidence for running the race, fighting the good fight, and enduring the tribulations, that continure in this life.

Again I am sorry to hear about your pain, and I am hear willing to listen. May God peace be with you, and may God encourge your spirit and renew your hope in him.

love and light,

tb
