Phillips YOU are the one who started bullying me.

The name calling, making accusations and judgments that are wrong about me personally. At least I could joke about it.

Self employed or not. Compair a child care worker with ECE degrees who runs her own daycare to a Trucker with his own rig.

I say you are prejudiced in your beliefs....the child care worker still make 3-4 times less than that trucker.

35% of daycare workers are self employed.

Pretty sad for someone who takes peoples kids all day, for 25-40 a head and they are limitted to children according to age.

I can see you think women, no matter what, should make less than men. I don't agree. So i don't wish to waste my time in conflict.
The reason I don't want to contribute here any longer, with you directly, is due to the way you put your points across. I switched to your tactics, even twinged with a bit of humour and you totally lack any sense of fun.

You're the one keeping score.

Philips -

Okay - back to your friend :o). Even though there is likely to be dirty laundry within that relationship that has been going on for years, it's still not right (based on what you've said) that your friend's wife is attempting to uproot all that the children already know, and are used to. Divorces are hard enough on a kid, and keeping their routines as close to what they're used to, as possible, makes the transition easier. Unless the dad is neglecting or abusing the kids, then the thought of the mom wanting to make all of those drastic changes in their lives (new home, possibly schools, etc), seems completely selfish. Also, if the mom just got this new job that was worth leaving her husband for, then who would be watching the kids during the day? Stupid. The money thing in a separation always seems to bring out the worst in people. I've seen friends of mine go from sound, logical people to rabid maniacs in a matter of seconds, because of money issues. And it's usually the kids that suffer the consequences. Anyway, for what it's worth, I know plenty of people who are in similar situations. And I AM glad that it's not me.

@MSGuided:

You said this

"I can see you think women, no matter what, should make less than men."

That is 100% not true at all. When you quote number like 'women make 78 cents for every dollar men make', you have to understand the numbers and where they came from otherwise they meaningless.

BTW, comparing long haul truckers to day care workers (even self employed) is just plain silly, want to know why, because each of those people SET THEIR OWN RATES. IOW, they are in a business, if a child care worker who owns a daycare is willing to undercharge for their services then so be it. There is no discrimination there. As I said before when all stuff is accounted for in YOUR number (the ones you posted, 78%), only about 2% is left and that isn't very much at all. Statistically , it is negligable.

@Shaney: You are right, I am glad it isn't me and that was the exact point of this thread until some people took it upon themselves to jump in a make it a BOY vs GIRL thing.

I work in LA and only live 20 miles from home - but two nights ago it took me almost three hours to get home because of all the car accidents on the freeways. I called my husband and had him check Sigalert.com - which gives details of all the wrecks, when they happened, when they'll be cleaned up, etc. Well, I guess one of the wrecks resulted in a fatality. I was sitting there talking to my h on the phone, annoyed about sitting there in traffic - and he says, "At least you're alive, and you'll be coming home eventually." Very, VERY true.
