Hey sunny, it sounds like you're doin pretty good- that's cool.

I haven't been posting a great deal kuz been super duper busy. Red Ribbon Week is comin up and I'm heading it up at school. things are wrapping up now and I'm just so glad it's Friday. I'm gonna sleep. We have a band at lunch for two days, a balloon launch, Roy Rogers and Shirley Temples, a graveyard, each day is a theme day and kids who participate get prizes- we have so many cool things that have been donated- small but cool, fatal vision goggles, a "drugs: Pandora's Box" contest where kids make a box that represents the theme, costume contest, bake sells- just lots of stuff goin on. I think it's gonna be a fun, educational, and hopefully impacting week.

The kids in my club are gonna go to classrooms and read this poem- it is a gripping poem about a girl dying after being hit by a drunk driver, and they've made posters that I've laminated so that each teacher who permits them to read it will get to keep the poster for their classroom.

Oh, I was gonna print it for y'all here and so I went to my car to get my bider with all the stuff in it and everything had jumbled out everywhere in the car. I'm stitting here with a pile of papers on my lap. I'll find it, post it later.

It's cool.

Here it is! It's titled "Death of an Innocent" and the author is unknown.
Our posters have this poem typewritten in some handwriting font, a closep picture of a rosebud on a casket with drops of water all around it,a picture of a road sign that says "please don't drink and drive, in memory of (and there are different names of people who have died)."

I cry every time I read this, every time. The poem:

I went to a party, mom.

I went to a party, and remembered what you said.

You told me not to drink, Mom

so I had a Sprite instead.

I felt proud of myself, the way you said I would,

that I didn't drink and drive, though some friends said I should.

I made a healthy choice, and your advice to me was right

as the party finally ended, and the kids drove out of sight.

I got into my car, sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mom

something I expected least.

Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say,

The kid that caused this wreck was drunk,"

Mom, His voice seems far away.

My own blood's all around me, as I try hard not to cry.

I can hear the paramedic say, This girl is going to die."

I'm sure the guy had no idea,

while he was flying high,

because he chose to drink and drive,

now I would have to die.

So why do people do it, Mom

Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,

like a hundred stabbing knives.

Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom

tell daddy to be brave,

and when I go to heaven,

put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.

Someone should have taught him, that its wrong to drink and drive.

Maybe if his parents had, I'd still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom

I'm getting really scared.

These are my final moments, and I'm so unprepared.

I wish that you could hold me Mom,

as I lie here and die. I wish that I could say I love you, Mom

So I love you and good-bye.

Just trying to respect your privacy, wasn't sure how much you wanted me to say. 🙂 It's a confidential, safe and private link to request information regarding dealing with people who have bipolar disorder, all the stuff that goes with it, etc. I post there sometimes, you'll see 'lam' I think it'll help you with all that you've been dealing with lately. 🙂

Sunny you are a teacher? What do you teach?

I had it in my head for some reason that you were a nurse.

Free,

aww man, you just had to go and make me sniffle tonight huh? Wow, I thought that poem was very powerful. That's so cool, all the stuff coming up at your school. Sounds like a lot of work for you though! How are you? Everything going ok?

btw, thank you so much for your post above regarding another perspective on why people can lose touch, etc. I wrote you a response last night and before I could send it...my cat, who desperately wanted to be on my lap to steal my warmth, stepped on my laptop and who knows what he hit but...it was gone! grrrrr I coulda swung him around the room! lol I should know better...I just put a BLANKET on, all my animals are just purely addicted to blankeys.

I have been thinking about your post since you wrote it and whew, it got through to me, like you always do. I so appreciate you caring and taking the time to write that. I will post more tomorrow (hopefully!) about it.

Thanks again free

Hi free,

I am first and foremost a nurse, but I also taught nursing. 5 Yrs college. I am also an electrician...It just happened!!! My Daddy saw to it that I received a good education. I'm sure he is proud of me now... And Lord knows, I can never thank him enough for "leading" me in the right direction...
I miss teaching.... I have so many fond memories I will share sometime, if you are wiling.

Hugs,
Sunny

Sunny I don't think I knew that about you either. Being a teacher that is.

What grade did you teach? To me that makes a diffrence what kind of experience you have with it.

But I am not a teacher so that's just my guess. 😉

Yes basically I work for myself. This is a town with lots of elderly so I have no trouble finding clients. But as I said right now just working with the one family. Jack of all trades! hell, that's just a few of the things I have done in my time. I was a bank director, owned a grocery store and a boutique, floral designing, interior decorating and had a cattle ranch too...That was when I took off a few years from nursing to raise my girls, in my mid 20's to late 30's...
YUP...busy bee here, LOL

Ok everyone, I contact SC and she got back to me with the info we were curious about.

SC said, regarding posting links:

"Yes, posting helpful information in all areas of life is
welcome, software included. The advertisement guideline is
there so that we aren't subjected to people advertising
their products over and over again. It came up in the past,
and there were a few people trying to post advertisements,
like, ONLY $9.99!! ACT NOW, FAST!! AND IF YOU SIGN UP
NOW, GUESS WHAT?? YOU WIN A PRIZE!

That's advertisement... abnoxious."

SC said, regarding liberation vs. support threads:

"The ONLY thing I DO NOT WANT on the support threads, is a
continual verbal thrashing of members upon one another when
discussing a controversial issue. Some thrashing is allowed
on the liberation threads, because it can be considered,
"debate". Debate is good... sometimes debates get heated.

That's not to say that heated debated isn't allowed on the
support threads... but when it starts getting out of hand,
and jeopardizing the "safe, peaceful, healing" atmosphere
on the support threads, then I ask it to end there, and be
moved to liberation.

Anything else is fair game, anywhere."

Hope that clears up the confusion. I will post those free software links on the support thread so that more people will see them. 🙂
