guest...

seek...if i may step in here.

guest...is it really important for you to understand everything before you can do anything? please listen to the Marshill thread title as well, it will give you a Genesis perspective. not everyone has all of the answers. most of it just 'is'. and over and over you will see people's attention being diverted away from the true matters of believing in God. Belief is easy. Being a follower is totally different. Therein lies everyone's choice. you can talk about the proof of craetion until the 'cows come home'...but in the end one will still be the same...a believer, a lukewarm believer, an athiest an agnostic. it isn't about proof....it is about a relationship. and if for one can tell you i have enough living proof in my own life that i don't care if science contradicts Genesis because that is not the issue for me personally. and here i go again....i probably should just bow out of this thread, because i see the same stuff all of the time, and i get angry.

i haven't read Tez's reference yet, but plan too. also, make yourself avaliable to other sources...Christian chat rooms...let people who have 'been there' talk to you.

enough said.

i'm sorry, i didnt want to make anyone angry.

I dont get it. When people try to defend their religion and claim science in it, I can do the same and say there's no science in it. Why would that be wrong? Its like, you put 500 lbs on one side of the scale, so I do the same on my side, you know.

Anyway.. if this is gonna make people upset, I will draw out of faith based discussions, atleast for now. Pretty sad though. Anyway I dont even care, I've always crept back from debating on these things.

you didn't make me angry, it is my thing, has nothing to do with you, so no need to apologize. its just me.

and i thought i would start a #2 so Tez's thread could stay on course as much as possible.

well I'm out of here, I dont need to stir up things. I got enough stirred up in my own life, plus i speak my mind directly and its brought chaos before, so its OK. I'll draw out. I'm fine, but might be checking in the thread.

Again, its SAD to say the least that open frank discussion of this kind upsets people. I dont think SC wants that atmosphere here.

guest,

I don't understand what the problem is. You asked me a question, and I asked you if I answered you, would you try it out for yourself? That's the only way you'll ever know for yourself. You can't take my word or anybody else's for too long.

I'll be happy to answer you if you would answer my question. My experience has been that if somebody asks me a religious question without real intent, it does them or me little good. I have to probe a bit first.

And sure, you can say there's no science in religion. But what's your proof? If you don't want to reply or debate, that's fine.

one merry woman,

Excellent thread! I appreciate your opening it. I was thinking of opening a separate thread for this same thing, for those of us who want to take that book at a more leisurely pace.

Hope you're doing well this morning, and you are making an excellent counsellor. Keep it up!!!

Whats the proof that there IS science in religion?

If you cant prove there is, there's no science in religion.

I dont know how much freedom SC allows here, regarding debate about religion. If I said what I wanted to say, it would make people upset. You can tell I didnt even start and it made OMW upset and angry. bah.

guest,

My proof there's science in religion is as I said -- Jesus said to try it out and if it's true, you'll know it. I did that on a number of things and guess what? It worked. So it has for others I know.

Science makes predictions that can be tested and verified or discredited. I rest my case.

omw,

Were you trying to tell guest that sometimes you just have to put your reservations aside and try something out before you know if it's really so?

As an analogy, if I were going to perform an experiement to test whether gravity behaves as predicted (with a constant acceleration), I'd wouldn't have to believe it till after I'd performed the experiment. While I was procuring the equiupment, setting it up, etc., I'd have to act without yet knowing if gravity really acted like that or not. I'd never know unless I set up and performed the experiement.

guest,

I've already told you twice. Do I really have to repeat myself?

seek, yes that is what i was trying to give to guest..that thought. but with God it is different, it requires faith, and giving up a part of self, and trust in something that in some instances is not tangible.

gravity, if the laws are not respected, we die. without knowing the laws and we jump, we die. there are laws that govern our world..natural, and supernatural. natural is easy to beleive in, supernatural is more difficult, but there are consequences to both if not followed.

ok...done with that thought,,,it is as FAR as I can go....i'm not sure i grasped what you were conveying...would you mind taking it from here?? 😉

AND also, guest....if you drop 'religion'...you know what...maybe there is science in religion come to think of it, because religion is man-made. so is science in the sense that it is being discussed here on aac. i suppose for thought sake...maybe the question is different...is there science is Jesus Christ? he created it,,,maybe so. In Genesis, and the first chapter of John in the NT, it talks about Jesus being the "creative force"...and that is not religion.

omw,

I'll be glad to take it from here. I opened up another thread just a few minutes ago, "Religion and Science", to continue this conversation with guest. Please feel free to join. We'd make a good tag team. :o)

guest,

I've already started a new thread for us to talk. Didn't want to take over omw's or Tez's threads. Will you join me there?
