BFG,

One thing to keep
in mind is that there are many different ways to interpret any
written text, religious or secular.

Religion is a way
to answer questions and provide support and community that help
make life better for all involved. The paticular flavor that fits
you depends on a number of factors. There is no one size fits all
when it comes to religion or community. That is why there are
hundreds of different religions out there.

On the darker side
of any religion, is that those in power have power over others. How
they choose to use that power depends on if they are good for the
group or bring them into darkness.

That said, if
someone is telling you that the bible is saying to become a
doormat, look closer at what they gain my this. Is it in everyone's
best interest to have some people be doormats and continue to turn
the other cheek so they keep getting hit? No, it isn't, but it does
serve those in power to keep people open to being taken advantage
of.

If someone's
personal interpetation of that passage is to be a doormat, then
what does that reveal about the lessons they have learned in their
life? Maybe its not a religious leader who has provided that
interpretation for them, but maybe its one they provided for
themselves based on beleifs that they hold based on more secular
messages engrained through previous interactions.

Just something to
consider when interpreting any passage.

i
think all religions were created by psychopaths to control the
masses and it worked! i mean look at how many people died in wars,
over land and over religion! I hate to say this, but all religions
scare me, I think it was created to keep us all in line... I tried
to believe in Jesus but it never worked out, so i was told my heart
is hard, its not hard!

I am
a minister. Most of the people who participate in our home church
gatherings have been abused, wounded, lied to or (literally)
persecuted by traditional church systems. Many, misguided souls
twist the Bible to beat up others. Part of my work is helping these
individuals recover from their terribly negative experiences at the
hands of religious zealots and abusers and bring them into a
peaceful, SAFE relationship with the Lord.

I hope it helps to
know that not ALL religoius leaders/ministers are the same. Some of
us are laboring to undo the damage and make a difference. Which is
exactly what Jesus did with the oppressive religious leaders of HIS
day.

BAREFOOTGIRL, I just want to let you know how impressed I am on
your ability to express yourself. I am very inspired on all of the
work that you are doing on yourself. You go girl!!! I have done my
own research on religions and I agree with the statement that you
made about religions being being created by psychopaths to control
the masses. I have also come to my own conclusion about the type of
people who put theme self in a position of controlling people. My
personal path towards recovery involves avoiding these type of
people and situations that would bring me around them. I have made
a conscious decision to extinguish the parts of me that USED to be
controlling. The most gentle way to influence people is to set an
example by living your life as you see fit then let go of the need
to feel responsible for setting other people straight. BAREFOOTGIRL
you have the truth inside your heart and that makes it
pure.

but
how do we know its not twisted and that is not the truth on the
other hand? How do we REALLY know that? This is the problem I had
when I was in church...everyone says its the other guy who is
wrong, who twists the truth, there is no way to know for sure, no
one can say they know for sure, no one! So maybe i am going to hell
and so are alot of other people, maybe not too! I get you Ma, I see
that your doing good to help people and I read where you suffered
alot and still do, that is amazing that you do that still, I am
happy that it feels good for you, please do not be offened by me,
this is where I am, this is what I feel, I see no way of knowing
anything for sure, no one can claim to be right, not one. I do
appreicate your post however)

puptent, you get it..you see where i am coming from, thank you!
I just feel so alone in this world, I do not want to volunteer or
be a girlscout, i do not want to be brainwashed and told this is
how we are to be in life, I want my own life, my own mind...its
selfish to most but to me, its just releashing myself from this
corrupt society...who think they know what is best for me, blah
blah blah....

BAREFOOTGIRL you have finally realized that your feelings are
important. You now know that you are in control of your own life.
You are not selfish you are doing what you are supposed to do and
that is to love yourself. You know yourself best, you are of sound
mind and you do not need to live by another persons words now that
you have found your own voice. What a wonderful place to
be!

bfg,

"So maybe i am
going to hell and so are alot of other people, maybe not
too!"

i'd push that
ridiculous negative thinking out of my skull if I were you. I know
you used to buy into that bunk as I once did. Funny how that stuff
sticks with a person. That's the crux of past conditioning. Playing
on people's fears.

Same thing the
government does with its terrorist rhetoric. Scaring the ignorant
masses into submission. It's the ununited states that commits the
bulk of the terrorizing. Most Americans rely on the boob-tube for
their info so they're never privy to the ugly truth about the evils
their own government is perpetrating under the guise of protecting
Americans/the free(?) world.

But, I digress. I
wouldn't want to see you fall back into that religion trap
again.

Just say 'No' to
superstition!

Hi
CraigCo. The answer to your question is no. In the past when the
weather got cold tents would be in short supply. I have noticed
that is no longer true. All the stores are well stocked with them.
I am wondering if this has to do with the increasing number of
homeless people? I suppose that tents were on my mind.

Hi
CraigCo. My situation is status quo. Thankful to be alive and well,
roof over my head, food in my mouth. Trying to do the best I can
for my little one.
