Just started reading all these posts. I am sorry that my post has created so much conflict between you guys..That was not my intention. SooFoo gave me the answer initially. People chose to worship God in different ways. My girlfriend is very happy with her beliefs and this is her way of worshiping the Lord. I am glad for her, although it is not for me I have a lot of respect for her.

My reason for questioning that was from watching Benny Hinn 20/20 follow up to his ministry. They interviewed people that worked for him, people that were showned to have healed and they were actually interviewed and they confirmed that it was all fake.

I have the answer that I was seeking..my girlfriend is happy the way she is and God will honor her heart because she is being sincere.

And that should be the final word on this thread. Thank you 2BHappy. As I say, "All God's Children got a place in the choir. Some sing low and some sing higher."

Since Stronginhim77 made her post about "Just as a generic post (to no one poster in particular)...referring to Christians (or Christianity in general) as "xtians" or "xtianity" is as hurtful and insulting as calling African-Americans "niggers." ", It seemed like she was laying down the law, and when Bitsy reinfarced that by what she said to CraigCo, I asked if it was a site guideline. Is it?

I'm sorry if I hurt anyones feelings or affended anyone. I'll try not to disrespect with a different oipinion. I still dont understand the way discussions are supposed to work here.

I will add my opinion, that "Xtian" and "Xtianity" are religious slurs. It is not acceptable to me that you use these words at all. Xmas is not a slur. Xmas was invented because Chrsitmas is now celebrated by both Christians and non-Christians.

Soofoo, I meant that I would not want to be described as a ditzy redhead every time someone mentioned me. Like that black guy over there. How about- that person over there? Or that interesting person who doesnt get it about what to post or not to post?

So if a non Christian wants to talk about Christmas, they can't say Xmas without rumning the risk of offending someone who feels it is a slur?

Lillabit,
No I would not.

2BHAPPY,

Each person has a special relationship with God. God is there, even when people fail you. Even when priests and ministers fail. If your girlfriend is feeling the spirit, it makes no difference whether any person or even a whole bunch of people are fakes.

God is so much more than what people claim.

Oh, I see Lillabit. Well yes, but using a word does not mean that you always use that word. It's not like I call my black friends and say "Hello black friend. How are you today black friend?" It does come up sometimes though. When the word "African American" became popular in the 90's, my best friend said to me "Don't call me that. I've never been to Africa. I'm black." So that was that. And we never had an argument about it. I respect him.

Soofoo, thanks for explaining that. Yes, that would be like saying ni88er each time. but it did make me giggle, "hello black friend" your funny. I dont mean to keep pressimg this poimnt, i just dont understand. its not a guidline, but an expectation of some of the Christians on this site? that the non-Christians stay respectful of Christians, even if the Christians arent' respectful of those who dont share there beliefs? I am a Christian. I still go to a Methiodist Church, but I have lots of questiom these days. I believe in healing, but I domt believe inthe ones that advertise or brag about it.. I think thats a crock. I believe in prophecy seeign in to another person or the future but I dont discoumt those that have that gift that dont' claim to be "Christian" I hear some Christians call that satanic, if the prophet does not give all the credit to God. I think that's wrong. I mean who are we to say?

"God doesn't exist. He's no different than the Tooth Fairy."

Those statements should be no more inflammatory than:

"God loves us all. God is waiting for us in Heaven."

You're right, Lillabit, it's a very slippery slope. There are a lot of personalities on this board, and each person most likely believes his or her "reality" is the correct one.

We get to know each other through posting, on this side and the other side, and we may or may not develop trust in each other. For example, it pleased me to read that Bitsy remembered some of my story and took that into consideration when reading my post.

People do argue here, and try to control one another, sometimes obviously, other times more veiled. It's not so different from real life, though.

Would it be better if everyone prefaced every phrase of every post with "in my opinion"?

It's just trial and error, here. If you want to build a relationship with someone, you pay attention to them. But I know that I'm always struggling with how much to bend for another. Like many others, I'm still trying to define myself and love and accept that person.

Usually, when people begin to share their "stories" here, they will get to know and perhaps trust those who post to them.

All the best to everyone!

Hello Mary. it is true that everyone has an opinion and believes that opimion is the truth. If I say I believe in the Tooth Fairy, and someone tells me that there is no such thing, how does that person kmow how I will repsond to that? What if I have built my life on that belief? What if I had a little gold Tooth Fairy necklace that I wore around my neck to show the world my belief? What if I had a Tooth Fairy book full of tooth fairy wisdom, and got mad when amyone told me it was not the truth? It would happen cos there are many that dont believe in Tooth Fairy. There are people people who's parents didn't teach them that. But what if mine didn't, and I need to believe it? Is that rude of them to tell me their opinion? Even though they think they know the truth?

Okay, Here is a twist. I don't consider myself any denomination. Although I was raised Methodist. I see the whole of nature as my God ((earth)).

Even as a teenager, I questioned...why so many religions ? So I stayed out of denominations........religions have always caused war.

Each corner of the world there is a belief. Very young I understood one way is not for everyone. So many. Yes, everyone thinks the next the right one is their way. There are so many ways to find a spiritual path.......whatever you want to call it. But the world God....is one most understand all over the world.

We can call it Moose. Everyone finds their own belief, but the belief in something bigger than ourselves.........I did not create this earth ( I know it ) makes me feel like I am not responsible for it all. Humbled I pray for spiritual guidance leads to a better quality of life.

Many paths for many people . Not one tree leave is the same. Not one stone in a river is the same. Not one piece of sand is the same. Not one bird is the same. Not one dog is the same...not one single person is the same. Not even one wave in the ocean is the same. HF

Bitsy, you said this. "You have been asked by Ma to use the full word. When dealing with Ma and with me please use the full word."

I'll try to do that. If I use X, cos I'm lazy typer, is it ok to do it if I'm not talking directly to you? What if you are readimg? I dont' have any way of knowing that.

Or if you are posting in a thread? Is it not ok to type the way I usully do? You weren't in this thread till Craigco didnt repsond the way you thought he should. It's tricky. In my opinion.

Lilabit, we have freedom of religion and freedom of speech in the U.S., so the Tooth Fairy believer would just have to deal, right?

Horsefly, I like the Earth religion, too. Our planet would be much better off if all of the money spent on religion went into taking better care of the planet.

Bye bye all.

Also, I forgot, yes I did forget to leave money under the pillow when my son was about 10 when he lost his tooth. he freaked out. That was after I had to explain to him they wasn't really a tooth fairy.

What was really hard was when the kids teased him at school because he believed in santa at 8. I had made it so real. That was a nightmare.

I never pushed another false belief again. HF

I didn't mean "you" in particular, HF, when I wrote "the Universe loves you, maybe!", I meant universal "you"...oh, sheesh

Marypoppins, yes i guess the tooth fairy believer would have to deal with it. But I dont. I have been thinking of leaving my church. Ive gone to it all my life. ive been visiting other churches but i am finding the same intolerance im all these other cnurches as at mine and what I see in this thread. you have to stick to the lingo, the credo or they get all freaked out. Some of the people at my church have left because there are some memebers that dont allow certaint thimgs to be talked about. when people try to talk about anything the slightest bit deffernt, they are told they are rude, shamed in these little hard to detect ways. they werent trying to change the service or Bible study, just comsider that there might be a different interpretation or explanation. They were told that they were disrespectful. I tried to talk to the pastor about it but he wouldmt comment on it. I hate to leave my church, it's a social thing for me, a family thing. I love my churcn. but the lack of tolerance and the ways this group of people get others to shut up then leave is hurting me to witness it. They are taking over, ad its not the way everyone in the congregation feels.

Horsefly i like your philosophy. there is wisdom in what you say. Everything is unique.

I didn't mean to start an international incident. Most of the time Craigco and I are very respectful of each other. This time I just thought he crossed the line to disrespect. It had nothing to do with anyone else. Everyone just use common sense when dealing with others and as you get to know them take into consideration what you know about them.

My personal belief is that God does want us to question and to seek or He wouldn't have given us that ability.

Bitsy now that I know that you and Stronimhim77 feel disrespected when people say X, I won't post that in any thread you might read. I cant pose my questions here, because some of them are with Craigco, in that some of the beliefs are weak and superstitious. since I have no way of knowing which ones you read. i wont say anything i'll just read.
