Do ya think that this planet is the ONLY ONE in this whole, entire vast universe with so-called 'life' on it?

Can the "Third Rock from The Sun" be the ONLY 'rock' with 'life?'

....and another thing while I am at it - How does the bible or koran or any other really popular book explain dinosaurs?

Don't know what's got my tights all in a wad here lately - I just wonder about these things here lately.......

Comments/suggestions anyone?

tBt,

To believe that we are the only planet sustaining life is probably one of the more ignorant & egotistical things a person could think. We are but a speck in this solar system of ours, which is but a tiny crumb in our galaxy, which itself is merely a minuscule little grain in this infinite universe of ours - but, it's all about us?? Sure, and Komodo dragons make good house pets too.

I not aware of any logical explanation offered from either the Koran or the Bible. I've have however, heard it said that dinosaur fossils were put here by God as a test of our faith in him.
I think Georgy Carlin's response to that was something like " Whoever says that was put here as a test of my faith in them".

Truth,
I am Episcopalian and we have no trouble with questions like this. Somewhere in Psalms or Proverbs it says something along the lines of God creating the Leviathan because it made him laugh. I have heard this passage used to explain dinasaurs. I we choose to believe that God created everything in heaven and earth and we find dinosaur fossils then we have to believe that God created them as well. Many cultures have stories of large creatures. I am sure dragon tales come from dinosaurs. As far as there only being life on earth. So far we have only explored our own solar system and we have not found evidence of life such as we know it. We have not explored other galaxies and solar systems. I don't have an answer for that one. Sometimes I think there must be other life somewhere and sometimes I think not.

Good luck with your questions and journey to the answers you seek.

Well, I have always believed that there was life in existence other our own little blue planet .. and that God is not just for 'this' planet exclusively. That would just be ignorant and arrogant.

I believe 'life' exists elsewhere somewhere out there beyond our solar system. Perhaps, it is not the same as on our planet .. could be same, could be similar .. could be something that we cannot even imagine.

Well, the Bible says we were made from 'dust'. Scientists theorize that we were from 'primordal sludge' from which all life forms evolved. Who is to say that all 'dinosaurs' went extinct .. millions of years ago. After all, someone caught a Coelacanth. And what about the dragons in the legends of many cultures? And also there was one woman archeologist that found artifacts from a 'civilization' that were carbondated as being 250,000 years old.

yes the Bible explains dinosaurs, I have heard it spoken about....but I don't have time to go back and look and quote. Perhaps if you google something like,'references to dinosaurs in the Bible' it may come up. Or go to SOSradio.net and email them your question as to where you can find info or who you can listen to to larn more about this scientific fact. It is actually pretty amazing!

TB you're always thinkin'! đŸ™‚

try http://www.icr.org about your questions and scientific observations relating to them. here's something from their website to chew on in the meantime.

"God ... formed the earth ... to be inhabited" (Isaiah 45:18).

"The chances of a planet being just the right size, the proper distance away from the right star, etc., are extremely minute, even if many stars have planets circling them, as some speculate. The mathematical odds that all of these and other essential conditions happened by chance are astronomical—something like billions to one!"

"Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. He moveth his tail like a cedar: . . . His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. He is the chief of the ways of God." (Job 40:15-19)"

no animal i know of has a tail the size of a cedar. "behemoth" is from a Hebrew word meaning "gigantic beast."
what do you think about that?

what happened to them, at least all of the land dwelling dinosaurs? the Flood.

Whoever says the glory of the creation of the "heavens and the earth" ("earth" sigular) were put here as a test of your faith was right.

WOW! guess what???

This will answer your questions:

Go to You Tube.

Then where it says search, type in Louie Giglio. When you get there go for it!! Look at How Great is Our Great PArt 1....Look at the cross in the Black Hole 31 million miles away!It is EXACTLY perpendicular to the EARTH!!!
Then Laminin//the cell that holds us together...is shaped like a cross!!

Have fun!

>> Do ya think that this planet is the ONLY ONE in this whole, entire vast universe with so-called 'life' on it?

In short, no. Consdering that the Universe is 13 billion years old, is infinitely large (as we know it) and Earth is 4.5 billion years old, its definitely possible that there are other places in the Universe that can support life. More scary: Even if the 'other' life got just started off 100 million years earlier than the life on our planet, it would be so much more advanced than ours in every way.

>> Can the "Third Rock from The Sun" be the ONLY 'rock' with 'life?'

Redundant question for Question 1 maybe?

>> ....and another thing while I am at it - How does the bible or koran or any other really popular book explain dinosaurs?

Yea, they dont. Quran for example didnt even know that its the Earth that revolves around the sun. So they never knew dinosaurs existed. These were old men from 2000 (1400 in the case of Quran) years ago. They knew as much as a man from 2000 years ago would know.

Hello Truth and All of you who responded to this thread.

My belief is that we are so lucky, so blessed to have this experience called the human experience, and that so much of it is about the connectedness and experience of the other. Knowing I am not or never will be alone means so much to me. Thanks!

Well that's the Muslim faith for you. No freedom there, just condemnation. Human bombs...where is the fun in that?

Hey all,

Thanks for the response.

Don't know exactly what is all up with me here lately other than watching the new PBS show: World Focus.

Seemed to have exposed me to the issues of others around the world.

I dunno.

I see and hear about the global economic conditions here in the US and have seen the impact felt around the world - not to mention global warming - and its made me feel like I am just a part.....a very small part - in this whole 'system.'

I remember once attending a conference years ago where Edgar Mitchell - a US astronaut (founder now of the institute of Noetic Sciences) was describing his feelings from seeing the earth from space and what a profound experience that had set into motiion for him.

That basically - this world would not ever, EVER be the same once we could literally view ourselves from earth......you know?

He shared that he felt some type of - I dunno - 'connection' with the stars in a way and that that was something that he had not planned nor counted on.

So - I think and wonder about GPS.

GPS.

The incredible "You Are Here" red pointer mark that most of us know from going into any mall.

I am here.

WE are here.

So....is it arrogant to even think or fathom that 'we' are the ONLY ones?

I hardly think so.

Matter of fact.....

MATTER OF FACT - I have learned from an incredible documentary about the BBC's Planet Deep...that basically MORE is known about the surface on the moon than of the deep life that exists way deep down in the recesses of this planet.

That actual LIFE exists in environments which do NOT subscribe themselves to what was always thought about photo-synthesis.

That basically - there is a bunch of life miles and miles down deep in our oceans that actually FLOURISH in environments which researches had once thought were just not congruent to any kind of life forms.

Prehistoric-looking creatures way down deep where the sun never, EVER shines.

Creatures and little beings which flourish in the natural gasses way above the boiling point.....and there they are.

This whole time.

Going about their business.

Blind ass creatures whom - IF this world were to ever have a nuclear fall-out and all life would seem to not exist on the surface......these little suckers would be ever the obvlious.

Truly.

No idea.

Isn't that kind of amazing to consider?

That no matter what.....no matter if this planet were to enter into a grave and enormous nuclear shock and utter breakdown.....that deep down - MILES down deep - there would be some creatures whom had no idea and were completely uneffected??????

And would just go about their little dark days oblivious to this?

The primoridial sluge LIVES!!!!!!!!

What convinced me is the personal story of someone I met online like people over here. I dont trust everyone who would make such a claim but I trusted him and I asked him tonnes of questions, all of which he answered very easily and there werent any contradictions. Basically he saw a huge objecting silently hovering about a hundred feet above his house and there were 6 other people who saw the same.

Also, you cannot ignore all the police reports about huge silent objects hovering about Texas (for example). These are police officers. They have no business making false reports, especially when there's been multiple reports on the same sightings.

Yes, some of those are fake like the lights behind the hills which turned out to be flares and others which are staged and done for money-making, but you have to be able to tell the difference.
