"He who knows that enough is enough, will always have enough."

Depends on what it is you are asking about.

If you have many material things, it doesn't matter what you have or how much you have of it. It is the satisfaction in knowing that you can be satisfied with what you have.

Some people want more and more. All the wealth, gold or power never satisfies them, nor will ever be enough.

When dining; how much do you need to eat? Some will gorge themselves. What is enough to feed our bodies in a healthy manner? What foods are right?

The wisdom is in knowing this; when is enough of enough?

On my way.

On 24-Feb-2005 you said:

"And Tez...you do sound angry."

Not really ... just sick of people regurgitating the tired old doctrines that emanated from the fearfilled recessed of primitive mankind's mind thousands of years ago. Yet, as a society how we look down our noses at primitive beliefs in other less sophistocated tribes, but expect others to respect our equally as primitive beliefs. We uncritically believe all the primitive claptrap that has been fed to us from birth. Hmmm!!

If one stands outside of our society and looks in as if one were from Mars then one is horrified at what one observes. Once one goes through a paradigm shift in thinking, then one is able to see just how bigoted and unbalanced our so called Christian society really is. Until then ... we rear up out of fear to defend the indefensible by any and all means at our disposal - the might of the US Army included.

"And that is not meant as a slam at all."

No - I never for an instant thought that it was.

You know sometimes it so so hard to walk away when I have something to say:

Tez, you live in a prison!! Your mind is a prison, you are not openminded, you just like to tear the word apart!! You like to tear every mention of God on these threads apart! YES, you are angry! You see the freedom, but you ignore it. You wonder how we can be so happy and positive in the midst of pain. You wonder how we have such blind faith in someone you used to beleive in? You are locked up..I would bet that you are a very nice person, I would even venture to say'kind' at heart...but you are dull, you have a heart that you bury, and you need to just let all of this crap go. You blame other people, yes some so-called "Christians" have given God a bad name, but get mad at them, not God. One day you will remember, when you had an inkling of beleif, an inkling of faith, a teardrop of faith...it is there you just burid it and listened to a bunch of pathetic crap, but you didn't now have you listened to God..what a crowd pleaser... are you? You do beleive, and I know it, but you are so angry at your past, that you will never give up that anger, you will stay angry so that those who taught you, what ever they did, will not get away with it...ever! And you know what, the anger will eventually catch up with you if you hold onto it long enough.

You only relate to those who have made a monster out of God. They are not real, so don' go there. You have stated what you don't beleive in, what do you beleive in?

Set those who hurt you free, and you will set yourself free. Do you really want to live like this for the rest of your life.

Now see, I saw this from you..these threads..reasons I am walking away...they are too much at times. But I saw this from you..and had to respond. I care about you, don't know you, would probably be a good idea neve to know you, cause I would probably giv you s_ _ t everyday about your insistence to remain in a hell of your own, and blame those before you for the life you lead. And, I don't know what that is, but you can't get rid of the anger on your own....you are so stubborn!!!

"just sick of people regurgitating the tired old doctrines that emanated from the fearfilled recessed of primitive mankind's mind thousands of years ago."

Tez you say the same things over and over too.

Takes one to know one I guess?

On my way:

In your 5-Mar-05 posting I can see that your heart is in the right place.

However you were so far out in left field that a response from me to correct so many misconceptions would not be appropriate.

I thank you for your misguided kindness just the same.

Tez, I probably should apologize for attacking you through these threads. These threads are for fun, venting, ideas, etc. I took it seriously because I cared, but I suppose here was not the proper space to do that . So apologies in that arena, and I will not go there again. These threads become somwhat intense at times. Take care, omw

Qn my way

On 8-Mar-05 you said:

"Tez, I probably should apologize for attacking you through these threads."

You certainly should not apologize. I don't feel or think that you have offended me or done anything wrong for which to apologize.

And:

"So apologies in that arena, and I will not go there again."

????

I'm not like Murphy's dog who can give it but can't take it. 🙂

I fully understand that if I shine a torch on people's flawed beliefs, then I must expect them to have an insecurity attack. This often evokes anger as a response.

Then why do I do it, knowing this? Because, often times much good comes from it. Questioning one's own beliefs can only lead out of the tyranny of superstition and ignorance. I include myself in this very much so.

Many years ago, I remember being very offended by an older guy once questioning my Christian beliefs. He said: "You know, Christianity as it exists today is a very shallow religion." He then went on to praise Christ, saying that his message has long been obscured. I was quite angry with him and responded in a less than Christian way.

However the seeds of rational thinking were planted and I started to question my own beliefs and where they originated. I have not stopped doing this since.

I am neither an athiest nor a thiest. At best I am an agnostic who is very open to questioning the very foundations of my agnosticism. That is why Buddhism appeals to me.

I am cognizant of one or two of the flaws in Buddhist teachings. In fact, if Sakyamuni Buddha were alive today, I am sure he would be shaking his head at some of the 'contamination' in his teachings, just as would Christ be. In fact, I suspect that Buddha and Christ would find much common ground.

I suspect that Christ had a lot of contact with Buddhism in his travels somewhere between his ages of 16 and 30 years - the missing years. The Gospels of St. Thomas certainly seem to me to lend some support for this loosely held belief of mine. Of course Sakyamuni Buddha had been dead for some 400 years when Christ walked the earth.
