RW,

You're correct; there was no devil following Christ or holding a baby in the scriptures. I'm afraid Mel Gibson used a little poetic license.

I saw The Passion twice, and I thought it was the most true-to-life movie about Jesus I've seen. At times I almost felt I was really back in 30 AD Jerusalem. I think it painted an excellent picture of what the crucifixion (sp?) may have been like.

I would certainly encourage you to watch it. Some people said they felt the scene where Christ was whipped was too gory, but I didn't get that sense. It seemed appropriate to me.

I hope you enjoy the show!

Randy,

I watched that movie once and as a sensitive person and adult, I had to close my eyes or take them off the screen during the violent scenes. Yes, the devil appeared in that movie, it was the man dressed in black cloack who was tempting Jesus. Except for the violent scenes, I enjoyed the movie so much. It was down to earth, I really felt like being in the Holy Land which I only visited once. Moreover, the usage of the Aramaic language added more authenticity to the movie and made it look more real since it is the language of our Lord Jesus Christ!

So, caution is needed: Do not allow you kids to watch this movie! The violence is horrendous and it really affected me as an adult.

Funny, I have been surfing the channels on my TV in the last week looking for Christian Movie for this Holy Season but to no avail. I pray I will find a Christian movie tonite!

I went to church yeterday on Good Friday and the day b4. Today there is no service, but I will go tomorrow on Easter day. I hope I will find Christian movie tonite on the TV.

Enjoy the Movie and Happy Easter!

~Love, Ras~

I did watch the movie and I think I will have to watch it again to fully understand it. The scenes that are to much for me to handle and parts where I just cryed and cryed like the part where mary is remembering the past to when her child fell down then she ran to Jesus. That part hit me deep.

I found it a tough movie to watch because of the violence. But it really made you feel the intense physical pain he had to have felt. And it just continued so much for so long that it made a huge impact. I wouldn't be able to watch it again though.

I saw it once, when it came out in the theater.

I thought it was beautufully dane, the best "life of Christ" movie I have ever seen. My Dad used to watch "Jesus of Nazereth" ALL THE TIME!!! LOL.

The whipping scene, in my opinion went on too long and was excurciatingly violent, pinfull and horrible to watch, however I think that was precisely the point. Alot of people glaze over the whole "jesus was whipped" but I think most people do not know the true "Scourriging" (sp??) that was given to folks back in those days and I think the makers of the movie focused heavily on the SUFFERING of Jesus because that was the whole point....the SACRIFICE.

My favorite line of the movie..."Remember...they Hated me First."

As someone who is often on the recieving line of hate..in the name of Jesus, ironically, it was nice to hear that... I mean, hypothetically, if Jesus and Christianity is right, it helps to know that Jesus too was discriminated against and hated...They thought he was wrong too..and look, He's the "son of God"!

After channel surfing my TV, all I found is movie about Moses and another historical one. Pity, I used to watch "Jesus and Jesus of Nazareth."

My favorite was the one with British casts and production starrring Jaqueline Bisset in the role of Mary Mother of Jesus and then Jesus is played by British Actor. I used to love it a lot. I wish I could rent that movie and watch it tomorrow. I will head to that store tomorrow right after church hoping that they would be open.

Randy thanks for the inspiration honey!

(((Free))),

For those who hate....find compassion within yourself for them.
