Hey girl. I'm freakin over here. I need some comfort food. Ya got any??

I have a D & C scheduled for Sept 6. I kinda knew that was coming. But today I found out I have a lump in my breast. She said she wasnt sure if it was a cyst or a tumor. Its been there a year. I told the Dr when I went for my yrly last Oct but he didnt feel anything. I never argued (didnt momma raise me good?) but I still felt it this whole time.

Well since I was going to the Dr yet again this week, I decided to mention it again. Sure enough, big as day, it is there. And I am scared.

What if it is a tumor? What if I have breast cancer? What if my D & C also shows cancer?

ok girl, get ahold of yerself here. deep breath innnnnn, deep breath ouuuuut.

Any words of wisdom? besides "dont wait a whole frickin year dumbass".

Sure could use some mashed potatoes, meatloaf, corn and turnip greens.

Hi thewall!

I know it's pointless to say "don't worry", cause of course you will.

Did the doc aspirate the lump? You know, try to drain it? I wouldn't worry about the D & C. Gawd, my Mom had about 25 of them in her life - really ickky, bad periods.

You have mammos each year, right? Good news is this. It's early. You know it's there, doc does too. How big? Does the lump change with periods, etc.? More info, please.

I had a lump removed when I was 18 that I'd had for 1-1/2 yrs. Turned out to be a cyst.

Thinking positive for you!!!!!!!!!

Thanks gal,

yea it does change during my cycle..more tender. We dont know how large it is yet. That will come next week w/ the mamogram. We havent asperated it..dont know if thats an option or not. She said if they aspirate, it will just fill up again.

And yea, i have mamo's every yr, now that I am 40. 🙁

keep thinkin positive for me. Thanks for your reply.

Miss Wall

Oh, I'm so sorry that you have this to worry about. And I hate waiting. I find the fact that you state it is more tender with your cycle encouraging. I had a "place" like that and it turned out to be normal glandular and ductal changes due to age!!!!

Also, have you lost weight in the last year? If so, that may be the reason he couldn't feel it then, but can now.

Holler for me anytime. I'll have chicken friend steak, fried catfish- you just let me know what you want. You ever heard of fried sweet corn? Before I went sugar free, I was a pie-makin fool. H-gal can come too - that is if her palate is not too discriminating from hanging around with a CHEF!

Bevdee,

I'm laughing. Have I lost weight? You do know how to tell a good joke, doncha gal? And that would be...um no. You see, my body doesnt lose weight. uh uh. no way. It gains weight every time I take a peek at the cooking magazine.

lol Anyway, age does have a way of catching up with us, doesnt it?

And yes, I have heard of fried sweet corn. You got some cookin tonite Bevdee? I'll be there.

ps. Have you ever seen the movie "Antoine Fisher" with Denzel Washington (ooo such a hottie is he)?? One of my favorite psych type movies of all time. Theres lots of sittin down to a good ole feast in that movie. Check it out when you can. I do think you would enjoy it.

thanks for the reply.

love,

good thoughts and good vibes to you miss (wall)....i agree that the waiting plays tricks on your nerves. i will pop some popcorn for you and eat it. the fried food sounds like something good and greasy so i better stick with the less fats.....i hope i get to dream about all the food you speak of tonight. no calorie intake on a dream.

Bev-EE-DEE!!!

I'd LOVE to come over! Actually, my exN is a far better cook than the chef. He's the one who's been feeding me of late (3 mos), since the Chef has been MIA for awhile (even though he popped up last week).

No, I don't know what fried sweet corn is. Would you splain, please? I'd love to know, even if I'm not eating it.

Miss Wall, I agree with the nurse/doc. If they aspirate and it fills, that's GOOD! Mine stopped filling when I turned 18 and thus, it was time to biopsy. Seems not a biggie. And girl, I DO mean GIRL, I just turned 49, so don't take 40 so hard, 'K? I just had the "boob squeeze" on Thurs. All good, according to the tech who read my films. I will be wishing the same for you. When do you go?

This is how my nana taught me to fry sweet corn from the cob. Cut sweet young corn off the cob, pat dry. Melt a little margarine in a skillet and toss corn off in there! (butter is ok, but you have to watch it more closely, because it burns faster). Stir once, have some diced onions ready to stir in after a few minutes, and then lightly dust with flour. This makes it kind of crunchy. I like to sprinkle pepper on my corn.

MMMMM, sounds wonderful. I'm starving. We'll all sit at a big long table, like on the Waltons, and pass the food down, like one big happy family. God I dont remember what that is like. Not sure I ever did experience that.

Anyway, Friday at 1:00 is the boob squeeze and ultrasound.

Thanks for all the good vibes. Keep em comin. My mind is going where it shouldnt be going right now...life ins policy, funeral plans.... by Friday I should be to the heaven part. lol. ugh. the thought of spending eternity with my mother makes me physically ill. ok, maybe I wont think about that right now.

Oh, by the way, I'm famous now. I was interviewed for the magazine Psychology Today, Oct issue, on the article on Munchausen By Proxy. Yep, good ole mommy dearest. Anyway, I got the magazine today. Ive never been famous before. 🙂

Ok, Miss Wall (I like that!), 1:00 it is. Cool thing is, now they can see the image immediately after the squeeze. I stood there looking at mine.

Since this is diagnostic for you, I'm sure they'll be reading the films right away. Ultrasound is the final frontier and a GOOD thing to do in this case.

Yes, let's all sit down at the 12 foot long table and let Bevee cook for us!

Pineapple Dump, oh yeah. I'll even bring the pineapple!

Miss Wall

I'm glad Honolulugal brought the diagnostic up. When they do a diagnostic, it is standard to wait for the images to be processed and shown to the radiologist. Then the radiologist will come in and tell you his findings, and recommendations to your ordering physician. While it may not be great news, at least you won't have to wait a week or more for a letter in the mail.

Anyway, yes I do like pineapple upside down cake. Lets have a feast Bevdee and gal!! I'll bring the diet pepsi and the chocolate!!

Its a challenge being a girl..
