Does anyone out there know what it feels
like to spend your whole life in fear of
rejection.

I cannot be convinced that even if my family
say they love me that they mean it.

I really believe that if my own mother could
not love me then how can I expect anyone else
to.

Is your adoptive family supportive and loving? I think that many kids who are adopted are special, they are choosen by the parents and do not arrive automatically, they are a choice. Many people live in fear of being rejected. When you look at yourself, you should love yourself. Then you will be able to love others and accept love from others. I personally know a mother who gave her baby up for adoption, not because she didn't love her, but becasue she did love the baby and knew her baby would be in danger if the mother tried to keep and raise her baby.
Are you successful in your life?

Does any of this help?

Dear Rona,

I can relate to your feelings of fear of rejection. I am not adopted, but my family is very unloving and I believe that because of that I internalise it and feel that I am unlovable. The only advice that I could give you is to stay around supportive people that are encouraging. Remember also that God created you and you are special and loved in his eyes. Maybe you should try church and just be around a pleasant loving environment. I would suggest to build yourself up, try new things and build your self-esteem. I hope that this advice was of some help. Just know that you are not alone.
