Hi Ma: Hope you don't mind but I'd be curious as to your thoughts about something.
The Ten Commandments say to honor your father and mother. Many of us here at aac have had horrific experiences and relationships with our parents.
Why do you think (or maybe it should) the same is not required of parents? To honor their children?
I am having extreme difficulty w/ my father and I really want no further contact with him. I am contemplating making a move (yet another one) to severe ties completely.
It does me more harm than good to have any interaction w/ him whatsoever. Even the smallest thing can send me in a tailspin. I don't need this in my life anymore.
Thanks in advance for your input.

sdesigns, I will be curious about Ma's answer as well. I was always taught to honor they mother and father as well, but the parent first must be honorable. That is why we as parents are to deserve and then demand respect. Demanding respect isn't enought. We can alwasys honor the "position" of parent just not the individual.
Hope I helped. My mother was an exteme alcoholic and I had no contact with her for the last 20 years of her life.
