Is anyone else here a little concerned about our new President and how he is handling issues?

"Tea Parties" are scheduled around here for next weekend due to the April 15 tax date.

Here in CA we've recently gotten some major tax increases- how the heck can we afford to pay more taxes? I think the county I live in is one of the most expensive in the country

And there's a vote coming up in May for the masses to approve it. Huh, ya think its going to pass? I don't think so!

One thing that is happening which I love is that regulation is now becoming "fashionable' again, even world wide after the G20 summit. Lets hope it stick s this time. We don't need anymore more errors- I think its been proven that de-reg doesn't work, benefits the few and harms the masses.

Yep, Obama 's got his hands full but he's taking it all to task in an expedient way, and at least THAT is encouraging. I say they can point all the fingers they want AFTER we get back on track, just get us out of this mess NOW.

Obama does have a web page, and you can send emails as well to the Obama Administration, Congress, Senate, State reps., State and County Governing body in the each State people live in. You can lobby for change, you can join programs that have been formed to help our economy locally and federally. I get updates every week on things going on and ways people can help our country and others in need from the Obama Administration, so I know everyone else can too.

Personally, I have been helping lesson the burden of the govn., for the past 12 years in Health, Education, and Humane Services with my own charitable org... There are many things people can do to help others, maybe not on a big scale but there are ways, and no matter how small it might be the help adds up. Reach out to those that have lost their homes, and or jobs, try to network for some one you personally know that have been faced with hardship. Reach out to the homeless shelters, offer whatever you can if not in food, clothing, or money just a little bit of time helps the shelters greatly that are now over crowded due to so many people losing their homes.

There are also animal shelters that are over crowded and are in need of help, people can provide foster homes for animals turned in because family's have lost their homes, they can donate time, food, or money.

Just my take on how people can help, and there are many ways posted on the Obama web page as well. All you have to do is sign up and you will get updates weekly.

I'm hoping to see this economy turn around by the end of the year but I do believe it will take possibly a decade to get out of the mess it is in now. I agree that nothing is going to happen over night, even Obama has said this himself. If anyone thinks that our President should have done this or that, and that things are getting worse because of him, they really should look at the big picture from prior to the short time he has been in office.

This is an old editorial by Rachel Maddow, from Barack Obama's first month in office.

Yeah, she's biased, but it's a fun little piece about all he did in the first month and "how he stacks up against other presidents in their first months."

cut and paste the url if you are interested, b/c I can't do the link for some reason.

You know, just the other day I was watching the History Channel on quite of few chronological segments entitled: "Presidents."

I was astounded!!!!

I mean.....the stuff that is currently going on in this country....is NOTHING NEW!!!!!!

Take, for example - the FIRST GUILDED AGE......same old issues.

Corporate corruption, bank issues, unemployment...etc.

Nothing new!

Some have even dubbed this - the 'Second Guilded Age.'

You know, it is all about cycles.

(Bottom line - I'm thinking.)

Only difference now - is that we don't have to wait for the 'pony express' or tele-type info to deliver the news anymore - we have instant, worldwide access to just an onslaught of info at our fingertips.

Surely this will prove to be an advantage in the long run.

My concern is that history will surely repeat itself if in fact we do not learn from past mistakes.....but then again - you have to be first AWARE of the past to begin with.....you know?

My other concern is that, Obama does not placate, compromise or somehow cow-tie in some way to those NOW (lobbyists, political contributors etc...) whom could make a difference for re-election come 2012.

My favorite Prez.....Teddy Roosevelt.

To me, he is the "Ted Turner" of his day.....you feel me?

I just wish to hell I had paid more attention to history in school - but hey - all is not lost as we luckily have something called: "The History Channel." on cable.

All about cycles.

Hopefully, we learn from past cycles/mistakes and realize enough NOT to repeat it and in fact - plow ever forward towards a NEW, much more meaningful plane of existence on this - what we currently call home....this third rock from the sun.......

that's all I'm saying...........

I just wanted to say this:

I hadnt been able to see how utterly STUPID Bush was until I came across President Obama.

And I've never been a liberal and I never hated Bush but now I see that he was completely stupid and basically, dumb. Pretty sad that they would put such a man on the captain's seat.

Yeah, I hear ya.

I can't remember the specifics, but a real 'insider' once said with regard to the Bush Administration....how in the hell did this guy become president?????

But if you look back - you would be utterly AMAZED at the linkage of Presidents in the US.

What - cousins, father/son, grandfather/grandson etc....really interesting to go back and connect the dots.

I think that is why Hillary didn't make it.

Not so much because of her own merits as much as what she represented - you know?

What - Bush SR then Clinton then Bush JR again - then Clinton again????

I don't think so........

I guess my only concern thus far has been Obama's major slip with Jay Leno talking about his bowling score and the off-handed mention of it being so low....like from the Special Olympics.

MAJOR screw-up in my book!!!!!

Smug - you know?

Confidence is one thing.....being smug - quite another.

Anyway, from what I hear, Michelle just doesn't play that and will set his butt straight as far as this is concerned....which is a GOOD THING, I suspect.

Keep his ass humble!!!!!

But - compared to the 8 years all of just experienced - kind of minor in retrospect - you know?

Alittle bit off topic, but this is how immigration should be handled:

Schoolgirl told to choose: Country or parents

This girl's parents entered Japan illegally using fake passports. Now they're getting what they deserve, but the poor daughter is caught in the mess with no fault of her own. But thats what happens when people illegally immigrate.

Its sad the Obama administration wants to give amnesty to the 11 million illegal mexicans instead of deporting them. Strange really. I dont understand why they cant be deported. The day those 11 million illegal immigrants get amnesty, illegal border crossings and crime will probably go up 400% or something.

I'm mostly a liberal but I cant understand this certain attitude. I think its wrong. Illegal = wrong. might as well free all the prisoners in the jails too and give them amnesty too.
