Do you know one, or have you ever heard of this before?

It implies to me unhappy children, what with indigo being a shade of blue and all. I'm going to google it right now.

What is an indigo Child?
As a summary, here are the ten attributes that best describe this new kind of child, the Indigo Child (named by those who predicted it).
They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)

They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."

They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).

They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.

They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.

They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).

They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.

They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").

They are not shy in letting you know what they need.

Introduction to Indigo Children

What's an Indigo Child??
by Wendy H. Chapman

Indigo Children are the current generation being born today and most of those who are 8 years old or younger. They are different. They have very unique characteristics that set them apart from previous generations of children. The name itself indicates the Life Color they carry in their auras and is indicative of the Third Eye Chakra, which represents intuition and psychic ability. These are the children who are often rebellious to authority, nonconformist, extremely emotionally and sometimes physically sensitive or fragile, highly talented or academically gifted and often metaphysically gifted as well, usually intuitive, very often labeled ADD, either very empathic and compassionate OR very cold and callous, and are wise beyond their years. Does this sound like yourself or your child?

Indigos have come into this world with difficult challenges to overcome. Their extreme levels of sensitivity are hard to understand and appreciate by parents who don't share this trait. Their giftedness is unusual in such high numbers. Their nonconformity to systems and to discipline will make it difficult to get through their childhood years and perhaps even their adult years. It is also what will help them accomplish big goals such as changing the educational system, for instance. Being an Indigo won't be easy for any of them, but it foretells a mission. The Indigo Children are the ones who have come to raise the vibration of our planet! These are the primary ones who will bring us the enlightenment to ascend.

There's a very good chance your child is an Indigo if he/she was born after 1992. About 85% or higher of children born in '92 or later, 90% born in '94 or after and 95% or more born now (some even say 99%) are Indigo Children! Does this mean you aren't one if you were born prior to 1992? No! I've heard reports that they started coming in the 80s, but that means coming in larger numbers. I believe there have been Indigos born in every year, but perhaps not in high enough percentages to notice their presence and see what makes them so unique. So can you be a 24 yr old Indigo or a 50 year old one? Yes!

**************************************

These where the first two things I found...the second one sounds sort of flakey to me as far as information and where it comes from, and the first one just made me think of about every toddler I know on an off day. The notion is definately interesting though...what makes you ask, OMW?

ef, this is the negative slant..it seems anyway, as they try to fit in with "worldly ways"...does it to you? thanks for looking this up, it sort of contradicts what i have learned.
from what i understand, they are very intutive very intelligent and so become impatient with sthose who do not understand the simplicity of it all...as in sometimes we humans make it more difficult than it really is. they are angelic in nature, truly caring, have the God-given abikity to heal.

sorry!!! just read your post above!! this sounds more like i have heard.

reason i ask is that i recently watched a movie titled INDIGO , picked it up at BlockBuster. found it very interesting.

and someone pointed out that my son was 1/2 indigo. ...either very angelic or very bad. He exhibits more of the indigo though...as he exhibits ALL of the above.

interesting i believe. and we all have auras don't you think? but i do not beleive or practice chakra's.

thanks for helping out here with info!!

THese where just a couple things I saw that where quick and easy to post and get the idea through, there was a lot more info, I just googled it.

I think we all have energy that contributes to and comes from our entire universe, myself, and I think as we grow as people and a community that does get stronger and stronger, definately, I guess I just think it is a slow and steady laboring proccess that includes all of us.

At the same time, it would be perfectly natural for a child of today to seem more progressive and more inteligent...we play them different things in the woumb, neurture them differently as infants, have different values to pass on than our parents did and different ways of doing that, including showing vulnerability, expressing ourselves, taking time when we need it...so really, kids of now MUST be progressed and different often times..and just imagine the wonderful little creatures our grandchildren are going to be!

I completely agree, exoticflower! Well said.

Why are children who are either very empathetic - or, conversely, autistically non-empathetic ("very cold & callous"?!)- all lumped together & called "indigo" though?

I cannot see any commonality in such diverse descriptions of totally different behaviour patterns to merit giving thm all some umbrella name. Can anything be "indigo"?!

Isn't it society's changing expectations, family patterns & the all-pervasive effects of the media (with so many mixed messages) that cause so much impatience with and resistance to old-fashioned disciplinarian authority in children?

Blessings - gazelle.
