HA, ha, you thought I meant soemthing symbolic here didn't you? No, saddly it's just a boring throat thing and I feel like I am LITERALLY starting to lose my voice, it happens to me every couple of years. But, I feel like I swallowed a hedgehog and it hurts to talk. The problem is, I am doing a reading day for my daughters playgroup in a few days, and want to try to avoid losing my voice and combat it now somehow naturally. Anyone know any home remedies or herbal cures for stuff like this?

EF,

Yes, I admit, I fell for the old get em' with symbolism trick! LOL Nice one.

Anywho....

I would recommend gargling with warm salt water, tea with honey, throat lozengers (sp?), and talking only when necessary for a while.

If that doesn't do the trick then I have no idea. Sorry.

Good luck,
lolli

Salt water...I will have to give that a try, now that I think about it I have heard that before. I'm sure exoticbaby would just LOVE it if I would quit talking...no more of that "don't lick the cat, don't color on the walls" crap. She sends her heartiest thanks!! 😉

Swallowed a hedgehog, did ya? EEEwwwwww.

I like the Chloraseptic spray when I have a sore throat. It sort of numbs it so it doesn't hurt so much.

Alas, it's too late for me, now I SOUND like I swallowed a hedgehog too. At this point, I'm pitching all the home remedies and going for the good stuff--cloraseptic lozenges and cough syrup galor. Nope, no "Hop on Pop" from this lady...

EF,

Sorry to hear about the throat. But if it doesn't heal up in a week or so, call your doctor, sometimes there is a throat infection that can cause you to loose your voice. Other wise, stock up on the home remedies and rest your voice not straining it. Get better soon!

EF...sorry you're not feeling well. I would try total vocal rest...that means no whispering, no talking, no throat clearing, no coughing if possible. Keep your house humid, drink plenty of fluids without caffeine, and hot tea with lemon and honey works wonders. Hang in there, and if you're running a fever, I'd call the doctor. Should clear up in a few days, though. Hang in there!
