At times like this I hate the human race. I really do. I feel as though we are but a cancer to this beautiful and magnificent earth, parasitic, predatorial, all of the above.

I hate being what I am. why i would choose this existence is an enigma to me.

I am so deeply affected by this. I am grieving. I thought for sure at least Chelonia would empathize. my oldest child enlightened me as to this. She is kindred with the dolphins and whales. It's strange- she is. just please, trust me, she is. Throughout her life- they come to her- it's really weird. When she is near the ocean, they find her and they come to her. It's been this way all her life. From the time she was but 14 months old on the beach playing in the surf. The other night she comes home with swollen eyes and I thought she and her boyfriend had a fight but no, it's about this. And now she is on some kind of path to change this-

google it.

The Cove. It is heartwrenching, I have been thrown for a real loop here. And I don't know what to think, what to say, I'm really bothered by this. She is online in heated arguments with the Japanese- it's ugly....

anybody?

This is an example of the weird that I'm talking about.

She was like 9 years old I think. 9 or 10. And we were at the beach. A dolphin had beached itself and was alive. She's all upset and we call 911 and they contact the rangers yada yada. Somebody out of Los Angeles was called (we were in Santa barbara) and it was going to be some time before they could respond. She was comforting the "dolphin", stroking its head and embracing it, and told everybody it was not a dolphin, that her mother had been killed by Orca's in the Santa barbara Channel and she was alone and filled with sorrow.

Of course we stayed until the rescue team arrived. It was a Pilot Whale and was in fact a she and taken to Marine land in Los Angeles. the pilot whale fought the rescuers incessantly- my daughter was able to calm her and load her.

Orca's hunt in the channel- usually the humpbacks. Whether or not this pilot whale's mother had been killed by Orca's in the Channel is not known.

But ya know? That's weird. It's just weird.

This is but one example of her weirdness with them. And this movie and what's going on is really disturbing.

Hi andii:

I live along the Ca coast too, and so love the dolphins, whales, etc. I was a sailboat racer for many years and we often encountered them when out on the water, especially the dolphins, sometimes pilot whales.

Last Wed I went to a whale watch point and saw some fin whale spouts, between Long Point (where Marineland used to be, now its Terranea Resort), but the grays are migrating and there are also some humpbacks I think they said. I also saw the water boiling in an area where the dolphins were feeding. All in all, it was magnificent!! to be able to see all that from the shoreline.

I once went down to San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja, and got to pet the gray whales- mamas and babies- what an absolutely fun thing to do. They are so trusting, so friendly, so curious, and love the attention.

Sad to think that humans take adavantage of that.

thank you sdsigns for responding.

I just wish we could "talk" to them- tell them where to stay away from, warn them.

thank you again
