And now Bush has proposed that the overall federal education budget be cut by $3.1 billion, or 5.5 percent from 2006 levels.

But the Suspension of Habeus Corpus...that is not only un-American, it is also satanic...now that torture is legal, too.

BTW, torture= Satanic.

Wd:

UUUGGG!!!

Reading some of those articles just pisses me off..

Yes Bush helps the rich, not the poor, i see that clearly in balck and white..
He made promise after promise, but has not even come through onanything I care about..

What kills me is this war, he jumped the gun, Yes i think we needed to do something, i agree, but the lives that are being taken away at this countries expense is diplorable..I cant imagine being a mother of an 18 year old and having the governement come knock on the door and tell me my child has been killed serving his country...
I feel we fight to many other countries war, oh yeah at one time we were the richest nation, what the hell happened???

I dont believe that we should have been there so quick, what about desert storm? they had what they needed then and let it all go, why???

STUPIDITY!!!!

Now here it is five years later, 911, over alot more lives taken, alot more pain given, almost to a recession, cant afford fuel, cant afford food, but WE the United States goes out and starts a war, now contemplating one with N Korea..

this totally depresses me, I brought a little boy into this wordl, for what??? to die in the war? to be hurt ina bombing? to be taken by nuclear weapons, mass destruction.....

pititfull.....totally uncalled for...

we have people here, starving, homeless, unhomed by hurricanes, lives destroyed, pain felt becuase of racial tension in the poor cities,

when will it stop???

Sorry,,, had to vent...

Love ya WD>>>

Hi WD

I haven't read this whole thread, but I saw that your original purpose was mainly to bring free out to chat.

However, you might find this article interesting if you haven't read it:

http://www.commondreams.org/vi.....019-24.htm

It's Keith Olbermann's "Beginning of the End of America"

Olbermann Addresses the Military Commissions Act in a Special Comment
Published on Thursday, October 19, 2006 by MSNBC Interactive

Sorry, I'm just passing by. But wanted to post this link because I think this article is worth reading.

take care....

Holy Crap Kroika, that is a good essay.

Keith Olberman is my current favorite.

I suggest everyone read that article.

Here are some excerpts.

"We have lived as if in a trance.
We have lived as people in fear.
And now—our rights and our freedoms in peril—we slowly awake to learn that we have been afraid of the wrong thing.

Therefore, tonight have we truly become the inheritors of our American legacy.

For, on this first full day that the Military Commissions Act is in force, we now face what our ancestors faced, at other times of exaggerated crisis and melodramatic fear-mongering:
A government more dangerous to our liberty, than is the enemy it claims to protect us from...

We have a long and painful history of ignoring the prophecy attributed to Benjamin Franklin that “those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

But even within this history we have not before codified the poisoning of habeas corpus, that wellspring of protection from which all essential liberties flow.

You, sir, have now befouled that spring.

You, sir, have now given us chaos and called it order.

You, sir, have now imposed subjugation and called it freedom...

Hi WD and Kasie

Here's a link to another article you might find interesting:

http://www.commondreams.org/vi.....025-24.htm

It's about the effect on the soul of a nation that endorses the use of torture.

Words to grapple with.

yours, kroika

Part of the destruction of our country is that most of the people do not support their leaders. This in it self leads to total distrust. If too many people distrust their leaders, then it is for certain their will be decay within the country. The US has the freedom to protest where others may not, but even so, it is only a downward spiral of decay. Some would say that the Democrats are anti-Christ, not the GOP as the beleif systems are really coming play now in politics....pro-choice vs. no abortion, stem cell research, etc. So I guess one would have to really ask in your understanding of God...what would Jesus do? But then you get down to the different belief systems of what Jesus taught, and many people decide on their own what they beleive Jesus taught and make up their own minds. SO the decay is not just with the leaders, it is within the American population to not be able to come to agreement on what is best for our country or what is the "right" thing to do. We want comfort and we want it now. Some do not take the time to think what that involves in the way of responsibility and voting responsibly. And I could go on and on and on as we all could. It is frightening what is happening, and I truly beleive that it is only going to become worse as time goes on.

I am thankful tha I grew up when I did. My grandparents grew up 100 years ago, my parents within the last 85 years....those times were special. But even then, Pres's were sleeping around....and then of course Tom Jefferson and the slaves.....NO ONE is perfect....and it is so easy to judge. If I were President I would have checked out a long time ago, I don't know why anyone would want that job unless they sincerely believed that they could change the world....but then working with this world the way it is must be awfully tough. And for some reason we are the only country who takes care of others before we take care of our own.......

Yes, OMW.

But another reason for decline of our country is that we DO support our leaders.

Look where this one has gotten us.

One of the most important civil reights we had--habeus corpus--gone! Poof!

Satan

And now,

We can torture people legally and the Vice President thinks thats a good thing.

And now they are using mushroom clouds to "get out the vote."

For some reason, the GOP thinks that the way to fight terrosim is to terrorize the public.

Who gave them that idea?

Could it be...Satan?

but wd........

I thought you were a professed athiest. How can you not believe in God but believe in Satan?

Maybe you're agnostic. How can you not be sure about God but certain about Satan?

Satan's surely at work in this world, but you're giving the Pres way to much credit. Bush ain't changing the spiritual following of the world. That's what Satan's goal is- or so I thought- to win souls. Bush wants to make the United States able to exist without the threat of terrorism and war. He wants global peace, and recognizes there is a price. That doesn't have anything to do with Satanism.

the Satanic thing, wd,

it's propaganda. And it makes you look silly.

Like us "eating" the Japanese when we caught them.

the democratic party is known for it's support of abortion.

In 2002, 1.29 million abortions were performed in the United States. That doesn't even TOUCH Iraqi casualties in the Iraq war, which is what this thread is really about.

Does this make the democratic party the political party of Satan?

"I thought you were a professed athiest. How can you not believe in God but believe in Satan?"

Answers:

1)No, you have never heard me profess to be an atheist--you have heard me argue with guest about it though.

2) Even if there were no such thing as God, does not mean there is no Satan. And the existence of the GOP pretty much convinces me that there is a Satan.

Ah what is the political part of Satan, and is the Taliban one?

Good question.

No, the Taliban is an annoying little dog compared to the GOP.

THe Taliban's goals: to crap behind the couch.

GOPs goals:

1) To destroy the United States as a democracy. (Mission accomplished)

2) To impoverish and enslave the world so that a few wealthy people can enjoy wealth and power. (Mission accomplished)

3) The extinction of the Human Race. (Oh, we're sorry it's taking us so long)

The enslavement of the human race, followed by the extinction of all life on the planet

"That doesn't even TOUCH Iraqi casualties in the Iraq war, which is what this thread is really about"

No Free, that is not what this war is about. That war is just the lateset of the long line of evil deeds.

But lets go there for a minute.

You compare abortions in USA to deaths in Iraq from the war?

How dare you?

I don't think *anybody* is "pro-abortion" Free.

The GOP doesnt really give a rats ass about the issue either, except as a way trick certain "Christians," that is to say, those Christians who believe that the USA should be a Theocracy, into voting GOP.

The # 2 guy from Bush's Faith Based Initiative office just wrote a book about it. This administration despises Christians, and laughs at them and calls them names behind their backs--they just wanted their votes and money.

Abortion Free, is a sad thing that individual women may be faced with from time to time, and it generally results from some kind of accident. And while it is a sad thing, I do not consider an embryo or fetus to be the same thing as an infant, or child, or adult.

The Deaths in Iraq are the deaths of actual men women and children. And those deaths were committed intentionally for the purpose of

1) Making a few people very rich.

2) Destroying the Constitution of the United States of America.

3) Securing the power of the GOP.

Am going to read the weblink WD, haven't yet. But I am glad that Bush won rather than Al Gore...and my family being from TN supported the Gore family for years. If my grandfather knew I said this he would role over in his grave!

Bush prays to God and references God more than any other President except Bush Sr and Reagan...the Pubs do that but the Demos don't. The fact that he prays makes me feel good....is he listening? I don't know. Christians are getting a bad rap because of the Bush administration, and Christians are beginning to look more and more like power huggers and insane.....and if people can get the Christian leaders to look insane, that will further turn people away from God because if they do not know God they will associate the laws and the leaders as oppressive and foolish. I thik this is what is happening....after all, why would someone want to follow who or what looks stupid or causes them discomfort?

This whole thing is v-e-rrrr-rrrr-y TRICKY.

And y'all are gonna hate me for saying this....but it is all in Daniel, Ekezeil, the Psalms, and Revelation. The conversations within the reformed born again Jews and Christians these days is that we are in END TIMES, based solely on the events in the world. Me, I don't know. IF so, I say bring it on, I'm ready.

ok now gonna go read the other weblink. and if Satan is real, which I believe he is, then God is real or we are all doomed, as in.. chuck it right now.

Don't wanna make this into a religious debate by the way, I am just being myself here, but basic human nature is pretty screwed up. I pray for Bush, but I don't know if he is an oil player or what his motives might be. I hope he can turn all of this mess around....cause cousin JEB from FL is probably coming up next!! And oh, that is another story too....the rigging of the votes in FL..

it's scary.

OMW,

I thought we covered that...

Bush references to god and prayer are intended to treick gullible people into bvelieveing that he has spiritual values so that they will vote GOP and give money to the GOP.

He is not a Christian--it's a trick. A cheap trick.

You are glad he was elected?

Do you think Jesus wanted our national buddget suprlus chnaged into a record deficit that we can never pay off?

Did Jesus want Bush to Lie through his teeth about Iraq, get us into the most expensive was, kill all those people including all the Anericans who never had to die except that Bush wanted to award some fat contracts to his friends?

That's why he did it you know--that's how he got elected.

By the way, doesn't it bother you that Bush actually lost two elections but that election fraud was employed to put him into office against the wishes of the American public?

Yes, WD it all bothers me, and no, I don't think Jesus wanted any of it. I think we are going down. I think that everything we ever fought for is being changed and twisted. I didn't say I support Bush, just said I pray for him and those nuts in DC. Who can we trust? That is the problem...and we call ourselves a Democracy, and we vote, for what we are presented, the best way we know how. Then there are those who are so apathetic that they don't vote at all. And sometimes I wonder if we really are remaining a "democracy". So many people are unhappy with the way things are. I hate that our boys are being killed over in Iraq...and IF my sons ever had to go, I am sure I would feel it more, totally senseless.

On another note...I have to smile :)sometimes when I read your responses to me, because you seem to get so impatient with my posts, but you are so nice about it....or maybe it is just me. Sometimes I write for the sake of writing, thinking it through, and other times I seriously consider what is being said.
