From Zinnie to All: "Just a Thought"

Reading through the posts made my head spin (could be the pain meds?) - so here is a thought - now keep in mind I myself am a simpleton, far from being highly intelligent or witty... but...

To me? Religion is like underwear. You have to wear what is comfortable for YOU. And, that might not be what works for someone else.

Now... do you really want to tell someone else what kind of underwear they should wear? You can recommend what is comfortable to/for you, but only they know what works for them; and sometimes, some choose none - because it is THEIR choice to make.

Zinnie:

What an excellent analogy. Works great for me. I do hope others will read and understand.

I too have my head spinning, and it also could be the drugs, but ususally I just run into things instead of spinning. 🙂

It is so very good to see you back. Truly a blessing.

Oh, Z, you said it all and everything I thought, but had I said it I'm sure it wouldn't have been so plainly put for others to understand. Thankyou much, Z. Love and Hugs!

hi Zinnie, what you said is so true......just cuz someone has a different choice on religion, doesn't make them bad, just different....and we should all respect others choices even if its not the same as ours.

Hey guys,

Thanks - I was kind of surprised anyone commented, because like I said - it really is like underwear...

I don't want someone telling me how to believe, just like I don't want someone dictating the type and style of skivvies that I'm going to wear.

We can all appreciate prayers from people, no matter their "religion" - to me if they are praying for me it means that they are sending me good thoughts and energy. So when someone says "I'm keeping you in prayer" - I say "thanks" not "well, do you happen to be Roman Catholic with a slant towards the Orthodox belief? Because if not, then your prayers won't work!" Because, well, I just don't believe that to be true.

So... here is to whatever style of underwear or faith you happen to live with.

Love to all,

Zinnie

Yes, Zinnie, what a lovely way to put it, and it even has a note of the light-hearted in it!

Maybe some of this is about wording things in a way that everyone can relate to.....?

When we speak in a 'lingo' that is not shared by others, then some people are going to feel they are left out.

I'll be careful of my 'lingo' in future.

love and hope you are feeling stronger........ladyv

Hi Zinnie,

So good to see you up and around here!

Actually, you made me think of the phrase; don't get your undies in a bundle?

All is much better since my final court date (did it via phone here). am fitting into my new lifestyle. Hey, I am even changing my undie style with it all! Though I still feel the need to ask permission for things like "can I, should I take tennis lesson?"

Of course, the only one to object for any reason would be Schotz, my Himalyan Cat, and she is pretty much fondly in favor of me and any thing I want to do!!!

Hoping you gain your strength and endurance back quickly!!!!

Hugs,

Sew/C

Hi Ladies!

LadyV, I hope you are doing well!

Perhaps you are right, maybe a little light-heartedness can make things easier to accept. The easiest way for me - as I said is simple.

Sew! I'm so happy to hear that you are doing well! That is wonderful news and I'm glad that you have that ordeal behind you. Remember, you have to do what in your heart and mind you know to be the right thing, and you did that.

Now - for Schotz and his approval authority? I have it on good word that he does pretty much let you do what ever you want to do as long as you remember the occasional can of tuna for him. I'm sure he and LOUD would love to hang out sometime.

By the way - you know LOUD... his heart belongs to Tumbles - well, for the moment, but he is always eyeing the ladies. Remember, in his little mind "chicks dig me!"

Love to all,

Z.

Zinnie, so good to have you back.

Geez, can't help this, but was at a meting last night, and the subject of "Do you remember your mother telling you, 'Make sure you wear clean underwear, as you never know when you will be in an accident!' "

Well I remembered this, but it also brings to mind...those who beleive differently, as we all do...to accept others, and accept their beliefs...for if your beleifs ever show their true colors, with dirty underwear so to speak...then embarassment sets in, alienation sets in, and a mirage of other feelings...best to remember who you are, who you believe in, what you beleive in,,,without being rude or intrusive on someone else's beliefs.

What does this have to do with dirty underwear?...need I say more?
