I saw this just now: Endowment Ceremony on Big Love Draws Ire from Mormons

And then I looked it up on Wikipedia which says stuff like:

This Endowment ceremony, introduced by Joseph Smith, Jr. and codified by Brigham Young, consisted of symbolic acts and covenants designed to prepare participants to officiate in priesthood ordinances, and to give them the key words and tokens they need to pass by angels guarding the way to heaven.

lol, look at the words:

In January 1831, Smith issued a revelation where he wrote that after Mormons relocated to Kirtland, Ohio, they would "be endowed with power from on high" and "sent forth". Smith reiterated this in February 1831, stating that the "elders of the church Smith reaffirmed that the faithful members would "be taught from on high" and "endowed with power", and that God would call the elders of the church together in Kirtland in a General Conference and "pour out [his] Spirit upon them in that day they assemble themselves together". In a revelation given to an individual, Smith assured the man that "at the conference meeting he [would] be ordained unto power from on high".

Be taught from on high? What high are these people are on? "Unto power"? Unto my butt! See how all these holy books use flowery words to disguise the real and very simple meaning to make it look holy and 'sacred'? Pour out his spirit upon them? Is he gonna pour champaigne on them and maybe lick it off UNTO their bodies with great Power from on the high that he'll get?

More religion silliness. I'm so glad to be an athiest. The only aspect in life where I'm behind is social skills. You know, I'd trade my athiesm for mormonism or any other religion to have good social skills. Its true. I'd rather be happy and dumb than sad and clever/intelligent/smart assed about religion, whatever you wanna call it.

And look at this too:

Certain aspects of the Endowment ceremony were intended to be "secret from the world"

Well ofcourse! Muslims dont like seeing Muhammad's pictures too. When you put a public face to many "holy" things, the absurdity and silliness of it is all exposed and those holy things become very vulnerable. They know this.

More stuff:

Similar ordinances are performed for the living and the dead in LDS temples, where men are:

  • Ordained to the priesthood (for the dead only, since a man coming to the temple for his own Endowment would have previously received his Melchizedek priesthood ordination)
  • Washed with water (which only involves a cursory sprinkling of water)
  • Blessed to have the washing sealed
  • Anointed with oil
  • Blessed to have the anointing sealed
  • Clothed in holy garments

Washed with water and annointed with oil. Why not annoint them with lemonade or jello shots?

I had an ex-g who was an agnostic but she didnt tell her mom who was still a mormon. I've been with them to mormon ceremonies.
