"By contrast, Shadia Drury, professor of political theory at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, argues that the use of deception and manipulation in current US policy flow directly from the doctrines of the political philosopher Leo Strauss (1899-1973). His disciples include Paul Wolfowitz and other neo-conservatives who have driven much of the political agenda of the Bush administration."
Is Professor Drury a bloody liar, a mental defective or a radical Jihad Islamist, ... you think?
Or on the other hand, is Bush a huge threat to the welfare of the whole human race, especially to you and yours?

Tez,

This assumes that current US policy includes deception and manipulation, and that neo-conservatives (whatever they are) have driven Bush's political agenda. I don't see that these have been established beyond a reasonable doubt. It's just more name calling to me.
{Is Professor Drury a bloody liar, a mental defective or a radical Jihad Islamist, ... you think?}
I don't know a thing about him, so I can't say, though it's hardly unusual for professors to be liberal and anti-Republican. They get more grants and promotions that way.

You're welcome, seeker.
I worked in aerospace for a number of years, and was able to see firsthand how "off" our liberal media was about national security. We used to joke over morning coffee about some of the things they came up with. Give somebody with an agenda and imagination a little bit of information and they can come up with phenomenal scenarios. Movie quality stuff!
What people don't seem to understand or maybe accept, is that a government who wants to protect its citizens just can't reveal everything that's going on. Obviously, that would be tipping our hand. We can't have our cake and eat it too.
Active WMD's were moved to Syria during the time Hussein was being defiant over inspections.
I find it interesting that the mass graves of Kurds recieve little or no comment, not even from the media. chemical warfare was tested on them, thousands of them. From the mouth of one Syrian " a weakness of the American people is that they ignorantly value human life equally."
Yeah.

I hope this person is not looking for grants and promotions from the US govt. We did used to have more independence here, but it's tough living next door to an empire.
kroika, another canuck who is very fond of Noam Chomsky and Scott Ritter, two US folks whose criticisms from inside the belly of the beast I find very heartening.

Good stuff - me too, me too, me too ...
But perhaps both Noam Chomsky and Scott Ritter are after grants too. Hmmmm! 🙂
