I believe a christian is someone that has Christ in there heart. When I was 28 years old I heard that I was a sinner, for ALL have sinned, I heard that Jesus died once for All, I asked him to forgive me for my sins and thanked him for dying on the cross for me, and asked him to forgive me and to come into my heart and change my life. He did at that very moment and I have been a changed person every since that day. That doesn't mean that my life is perfect now, but I never have to go through anything alone. A person can either hurt "With God, or "Without God. I chose to live with Him, for the rest of my time here on earth, also to be with Christ forever in eternity someday.I've never regretted it for one second.

Yea so many perspectives, just like the question, what makes a Muslim? To what degree do you have to believe and do what Islam says, in order to be a muslim?

So in this case I'd say, if someoen believes that Jesus is the final prophet and he's the right one and he's God etc, the belief is enough to label them as christian.

So i'd say this basic belief is what makes someone a christian yea? i dont know. Its like being a muslim: beleiving in Allah and Muhammad being the last prophet of Allah, makes a person a muslim. Now whether to what degree they actually practice and believe in the other things, those are just gray areas, but the core belief is the minimum to be included in the 'fold', my 2 cents as an athiest.

You're a Christian if you think you are. Each person necessarily defines herself. Many people would say that I'm not a Christian, because I don't believe that Christ is the ONLY way. But they don't get to make that choice. I am a Christian.

Soofoo -

I am so glad that you decided not to quit the site!

I would have to say that I am a Christian...I just don't believe in any particular religious faith or sect or church like being a Catholic or Methodist or Baptist...or whatever.

The term "Christian" was first used in Antioch. "Christ" comes from the Greek word which means "anointed one." Therefore, the "Christians" were those who followed the Anointed One.

In modern application a Christian would be any individual who follows and shares in the anointing of Jesus Christ. This is appropriated by faith and an intimate relationship with Him. Obviously, there are many different denominations with various doctrinal slants on "textbook Christianity." I, myself, am non-denominational and what would be called a born-again, charismatic Christian. Becoming "born again" was well described above, in Sunnysue's posting.

To me, head knowledge of Jesus Christ is not enough to qualify anyone as a Christian. Heart knowledge of Him (i.e., a personal relationship in which He is Lord and Savior of your life) would.

Hi!
Me too. I took a hiatus and do take a lot of them.

I'm going to stay and practice civil disobedience. If I get kicked off, then so be it. But so far, I've had no problems.

I am with you 100 percent. You just BE civilly disobedient. I just love a gal that knows her legal terms.

2 John 7 "Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. 11 Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work."

You have me on your side, SooFoo. You have God on your side.

Hi soofoo!

In your post you stated you didn't think Jesus was the only way. I don't either. What other ways do you think there are?

Greek terms, Christian means 'Christ in you'. I grew up in a family that went to church, but i didn't become a Christian until I was 17.

I believe that JC is the only way to God. Hope I don't sound 'religious' here!

You all are awesome!!
