Would anyone like to take a minute and tell what this may be in reference to? food for thought. I know where it originates from, but had a new meaning for me today, so just popping it out there!

No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it upon an old garment; if he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.

omw,

If you take a piece of new material (e.g., a patch) that hasn't shrunk yet and sew it onto older material (and then wash them both), the new material will shrink and pull at the older material, thereby ripping it.

In other words, if we continue to live our lives the same old way with the same old attitudes and beliefs once we've received enlightenment, there will be inconsistencies and confusion in our lives and our behavior. It would be better to disregard the old ways (and beliefs) that don't work anymore and to embrace the new.

Just my own observations in life and practice 🙂

To me, this "quote" says: That we are not all at the same stage in life. Some duties are more difficult than others. Some are as new babes and need fed food to grow and some are older and more able to withstand. That our duties should be as according to what stage of growth we are in. Strive to grow, but take on the things for the appropriate stage you are in and then as you grow you can take on more.

So, what you are daying is be happy where we are, rest in where we are, and trust where we are being led? What you say makes each unique and each a different part.

Much food for thought here.

Yes, BUT, don't forget to grow along the way, to become seasoned and stronger.

They poured new wine into new wineskins. The old was left in the original so it seasoned and grew along the way. At one time it had also been new.

Liken it to a newborn... you feed it milk and it grows, then it can eat soft food and still grows and can do more, and on it goes.

I remember this but I don't undrestand the interpretation.
If the old is seasoned, isn't that a positive...interesting, talk a bit more about this?
I always thought that pouring new wine into old wineskins, was not right? This one confuses me, I guess I has better look closer. 🙂

It has to do w/ strength and the ability to withstand circumstances. Some duties are harder and more difficult than others, such as fastings and the duties that attend it. Even the best of his go through a state of infancy and not all are at the same stage of growth. There are babies and grown folks. The young are weaker and consideration should be made as to the food provided for them. It must be as is proper to their age.; so must the work be that is cut out for them. Young beginners must not be put on the hardest duties at first, lest they be discouraged. He gently leads them.
