Hi guppy,

I'm just signing off and won't be able to be back on for a while. I'll look up the article later, though.

take care, Seeker

guppy,

I read the first part of the article and skimmed the rest. I don't know how any parent could make it through such an ordeal. I sure hope I never have to do anything like that.

I am a parent that made it through a similar ordeal. Our youngest was born w/ Strep B. Long story short I had insurance but then lost it while pregnant so wound up going to the county hospital. I will say I was treated horribly coz most folks there are on welfare or druggies or drunks. The doctor didn't think he should tell me I was a strep B carrier, which I was not w/ the other kids. Anyway, they had told us she would have CF, but she didn't. She was born w/ a 9 apgar and then 3 hours later totally crashed. I stayed in the hospital the 2 weeks she was in icu. I was in the icu talking to her and singing to her until the I think 8th day when I was allowed to hold her. So may wires and things were attached to her little body. The told us from the beginning that she would not live. Two other strep B babies died while I was there w/ my baby.

Anyway, one day hubby and I sat on my bed they let me have and we talked to God and told him that "if he wanted her back then ok and thank you for letting us keep her this long." We also told our baby it was ok if she wanted to go on home to Heaven and we'd see her one day. It is strange but there was a peace that day. Well, I don't remember if the next day or 2 days later I was sitting in the ICU w/ my baby and my pastor and assoc pastor walked in. (they didn't allow them in the icu there). But here they came walkin over to me. My baby's doctor had called them in to talk to me. They came to tell me that a miracle had happened and that during the night she had made an almost complete turnaround and that she would live. God hear our cries and God heard our willingness to let her go.

She is now almost 13 and acting every bit hormonal teenager. She can sing like an angel. We just enrolled her in voice lessons a month ago and she is doin great.

Anyway, just felt like sharing a bit of my life.

🙂
