Anybody ever have a "close encounter" with any cool celebrities before?

I'm not normally very "star-struck", but when I was eating at a restaurant last night and saw Sandra Bullock at the next table, I almost choked on my steak! She is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! (Yea, I know, I hate her too! lol) I mean, why couldn't she have been ugly, or having a bad hair day, or bloated or something??? Nope, not a chance! She's more beautiful up close than she is in the movies. Or maybe, I really was "star-struck"! lol

The funny thing is that I was already having dinner with someone who is very well known herself in the christian music industry. She sings nationally in arenas all over the country in front of thousands of women almost every weekend. But when we saw Sandra Bullock, we both suddenly digressed into two silly little girls who were trying to sneak a peek! It was hysterical! My friend came very close to asking for her autograph...the same friend who had just finished performing for 15,000 women and giving out autographs herself! Toooooooooooo funny!!!

Same restaurant last night (before Sandra Bullock came in), this cute little blonde-headed 8-yr old girl came in with her daddy. She was dressed up in a beautiful, long dress, and her dad had on a suit. She also was wearing a wrist corsage that he had given her. They passed our table on their way out, and we were so busy oohing and ahhing over the precious little girl, I had failed to look up at the dad. For those of you who follow golf, it was Hal Sutton. When I finally realized who it was, I said, "Oh my gosh, you are Hal Sutton!" And he said, "Yep, last time I checked my driver's license, that's what it said!" lol He was on a DATE with his 8-year old daughter...isn't that precious??? It was just the two of them, and I thought what a great man to take your daughter out on a date, treat her special, buy her flowers, buy her dinner, and TEACH her how men should treat her on a date!!! And, she had her daddy all to herself...his undivided attention.

So that's my celebrity sighting story...anybody have a fun story to tell???

I've seen Dennis Connor and Paul Cayard (America's Cup sailors- BIG celebrites to me!) at San Diego Yacht Club, saw Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins at a funeral procession in Bali, saw a Colorado and Oklahoma US Senators in our hotel in Paris, saw Dan Brown (NFL) at LAX, saw Captain Kirk (can't remember his real name right now)in Palm Springs, saw David Crosby in Princeville, Kauai, saw Darren McGavin riding a bike in Beverly Hills, have seen Chuck Norris being chaffeured around town (he lives nearby), did some work for Marcel Dionne (Kings hockey player). Recently met Campbell of the Detroit Pistons (he lives near one of my clients). Also did some work for another guy who played a doctor on a popular TV show a long time ago- lives in Malibu- can't remember his name either right now. Probably more but can't think of them right now. Nevertheless, it is always fun and unexpected.

My friend used to work for the Brokaw Company (publicity) in LA years ago (she is the one who introduced me to ex-N). I went to see her one week and worked for three days with her. Lou Rawls and I made coffee together one morning. I spoke with a few stars on the phone (I was working the switchboard). Ricardo Montalban, Pat Morita.

Aaannndddd... ex-N, who shall remain nameless, was a rock star in the 1960s...

Oh! I almost forgot the most important person I met! Ray Bradbury, the science fiction writer. Now THAT was cool... 🙂

RW, you're so cute:) Hey, I saw those people last night in the most unlikely of places, so it really just was a freaky thing. The times I've been in Los Angeles or New York, where you'd expect to see somebody famous, it doesn't usually happen. However, one time I was in New York coming out of my hotel and Jerry Springer (yuk) and his entourage were coming in the same hotel. And I was in Chicago for a convention once, and got on a treadmill in the gym of the hotel I was staying in, and when I looked next to me, Steadman (Oprah's boyfriend) was working out next to me. And on that same trip to Chicago, I got in an elevator with a guy who was covering his face with a hat, and when I got off he got into a limo, so I asked if I had "missed something", and the doorman said, "Oh, you just rode down the elevator with Roger Daltry (from the rock group "The Who")!!! Daaayyyyummmmm!

Oh, and I'm playing in a golf tourney next weekend (fundraiser event) and attending a reception with Terry Bradshaw (most recently literally showed his *ass* in the movie "Failure to Launch"), and Kix Brooks from the country music duo of Brooks and Dunn.

I swear, ya'll, this stuff NEVER happens to me!!! Well, almost never:)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Whidbey, I almost *forgot* that your ex was a rock star. Girl, if it was Roger Daltry, I'm gonna pee in my pants (read above post) lol

I just remembered that I saw Bryant Gumble in a restaurant one time...I was in New York and we were walking down the side walk past this little restaurant with a big picture window, and he was sitting there having breakfast with friends.

Here's my list:

I got to meet Chevy Chase and Bill Cosby (had my pic taken with both of them).

Chevy is REALLY tall! Bill Cosby was so kind.

I've also met Geraldo Rivera and his wife.

Was on the same plane as Nicole Brown Simpson's sister (Denise?).

Saw Mary Tyler Moore in the Atlanta airport (she's soooooooooooooo skinny!).

I see Derek Jeter (New York Yankees short stop) in the mall all the time.

My daughters took tennis lessons from Martin Grammatica's girlfriend (former Bucs kicker).

I'm sure there's more...but, I don't get all star struck about these people either. 🙂

Gee, Lotustampa,

Come over my way and help introduce me to a guy with brains, charm, humour and what ever here in SoFlo. I just moved from the northern states and this is hard not to just meet retired ole men who want a nurse (me) to care for them. LOL!

Between 45 and 55 or so, kidding.....

I once met Gordon Jump, the star of the show WKRP in Cincinatti back in the 70s, I believe, and the Maytag repairman on the commercials. He gave me his autograph and told me, "This and 35 cents will get you a cup of coffee."

I also met the wife of Billy Barty, a famous midget actor.

But much, much more impressive, I've met plzdon'tsayuneedme, sdesigns, randomwomen2, zeezee, whidbey, LotusTampa, SewUnique, and others who star on a website called AAC. :o)

Plz,

lolol Noooo, he isn't Roger Daltry... 🙂 You'd might know the band he was in, but probably not him by name. Oh, and since you and your friend are into Christian rock, my best friend, Cheryl Jewell was the lead singer for a group called Rachel Rachel in the 1980s, one of the first, if not the first female rock groups in Christian music.

Seeker, what a wonderful and nice thing to say. Yes, my friends in life are the absolute best. Like Lotus, I'm not a "star-struck" person.

((((((((Seeker)))))))))) Ummmmmmmmmm, will you marry me??? lol I think I love you:) *grin*

Hey Whidbey! Thank God it isn't Roger Daltry! And that is so cool...I do remember Rachel Rachel!

OMG, I almost forgot!!! Anybody following American Idol this season??? Mandisa Hundley is one of the top 9 contestants left, and she was a guest singer at a women's conference we had at our church this time last year, and I was her hostess for the weekend. So when I got an email from her saying she was trying out for American Idol, I've been tuning in every week! And she's still in the running!!! So exciting!!!

I realy like the part about him spending special time with his little girl, she will remember that forever.
At least twice a year I take each of my kids out one at a time and spend the day doing whatever they want and having a nice dinner etc. they are constantly asking when they get to go again, We have rules that they cant tell anybody else where they went or what they got to do, that eliminates the competing.

Diggem, that is soooooooooo cool! Yes, I was quite impressed with the fact that he was sending such a great message to his daughter. She will never forget that!

Congrats to you, as well, for doing that with your kids! Those kinds of memories will last a lifetime.

Kudos!

plz~

I sometimes go a little overboard with it, Last year I asked my 9 year old son what he wanted to do and he said go fishing, so I made the mistake of saying just pick the place and we will go. he brought out a map and pointed to lake champlain in Vermont..We live in Nevada, so I bought plane tickes and we were off to Vermont, He cought some huge fish, several 12 - 15 lb lake trout. His photos are priceless.
