Be,

You had written about your son having many tests and the possibility of Hodkin's Disease? Have you heard anything yet? How is it going for you? You aren't one to post big time, but I do not wish to miss offering any support we can share with you, nor to make light of what you posted about your son's illness on another thread.

We are here for you in whatever way we can!

Concerned with thoughts and prayers,

Sew

Hi Bel:

I totally agree w/ Sew. If we made you feel unwelcomed I do apologize. Your son has some serious issues goin on here and I truly do want to be here for you.

If you don't mind I would like to add your son to my prayer list. Took my daughter in and he said she probably has an infection and put her on antibiotics. No blood test, no urine test, nothin. Said we'll see how she does after that.

I see they checked for menengitis. May I ask how old is your son? Also, has he been thru any type trauma? If so or even if not, might ask the doctor to check for epstein barr (chronic fatigue) or fibromyalgia. Just a thought.

I know how I get in knots when my children are ill. Please do come and talk and post to us. No need to keep things in. It will only hurt yourself.

Hope to hear from you.

Hello Sew and Mama,

Thanks for thinking of my son and myself. I do not get on here on the weekends due to computer problems at home.

My son has not had any results yet from the test he has taken. One did come back negative on the menegitis.

My son is 35 years old and is having a negative outlook on his illness. He assumes he is dying, he is having a biopsy on the lump in his neck on August 29th. I am trying to think positve and hope for the best, he is my only child and I have a grandson from him and his ex girlfriend.

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts and no one made me feel unwelcome. I am just a quiet person and dont post on a regular basis.

Have a Great Day
Bel

Hi Bel:

Please, Please come talk to us about your son. My prayers are with you and him. Is he any better? Have they checked for cat scratch disease? I am really concerned for your son. Maybe between your docs and my docs we can solve these problems, or at least tell them what tests they should be running.

Still in my prayers.

Hello all and thank you so much for your words of concern and prayers.

My son did go yesterday to the hospital and they ran all kinds of tests on him. Now the waiting starts for the results. He still has a biopsy scheduled for the 29th of this month to check the lump on his neck for lukemia. I pray its negative.

Mama what is wrong with your daughter? I pray its not to bad and she recovers soon. I will keep her and all of you in my prayers.

Its nice to know I can come here and talk about things that are bothering me.

TS, thank you so much for caring, I know your going through alot yourself I dont know how you all find the time to answer alot of these posts...I try...

Mama, Ras thank you both as well and I hope your both doing good.

Take Care
Bel

Bel:

They did the cat scratch test and the tb test on Erica. The tb test is fine; i've already looked. They also did blood tests and her lymphs and neutrophils are both off; but the white count is in range. Nurse and I both thought a bit strange. I don't know where we go from here.

The ENT doc wouldn't even schedule another appt. till he gets the tests back. We see the family doc in 2 hours to read the tb test. I'm afraid mom isn't gonna handle this hurry up and wait on her baby like she does on herself. Family doc may get a tiny ear full. Will try to hold my composure, but I do sometimes lose it. Ya just don't mess w/ mama's babies. I'm sure you know the feeling.

Oh Bel, I do hope they will not have to do the Leukemia test. I pray w/ all my heart it not be that. First thing outta my mouth was I cannot handle another leukemia.

Please, Please keep us posted and I'll do the same.

Hi Bel:

I have posted about my daughter and myself on the mamaC prayer thread. I want to be sure this thread is about only you and your son.

We are also doing the hurry up and wait game w/ Erica. CT Scan tomorrow afternoon. I am holding up ok. They have run every test you can think of on me over the years and I have taken them with minimal resistanc. But, this is my child and I am not holding up as well. Woman of steel in front of everyone and my daughter, but jello inside. I'm sure you now the feelin.

Sit down here and have a cup of coffee or a cup of tea with me. Take a minute to think of you.

Hi Mama, thanks for the coffee I sure need it. Still waiting on the test and then results for son. He is my only child so its really hard for me to think what if? We are really close, although we fight alot we do love each other very much. He gets mad when I tell my family how sick he is, says its no ones business. I know he is worried and try to overlook when he is mean or angry but I do let him know when he is being to mean to me and the kids. Its alot of stress right now and I can feel myself feeling anxious and stress alot. I know I need to relax and such but its hard.

Bel:

Yes, resting in the midst of anxiety and chaos is very hard. Find a place in your mind that you can have peace. A quiet place.... a field, the woods, ...somewhere you are happy. Then when you get overly stressed close your eyes and see where you want to be. Feel the peace you have there for just a few minutes. It helps.

You son loves you very much I have no doubts of that. Funny how when we are afraid, upset, stressed we lash out at the ones we are closest to. Guess it's that way coz we know they will still be there for us no matter what. I'm sure your son knows that about you; that you'll be there no matter what. You are a good mom. Can tell from the love that pours out of your posts.

I am sorry, but I cannot remember your son's age. He does want his privacy doesn't he. Unfortunatly, family does need to be informed so he'll have to suck that one up and deal w/ it. I know him being sick that you want to do nothing but pamper him, but Bel, don't take any stuffins off him either. You still have to maintain the level of respect you demand. And, he may not say so, but maybe by his lashing out he is trying to see that things have not changed and the rules still stand. He needs his boundaries and may be looking to see where they have gone if they have gone.

You hang in there Bel. We are all still praying for you and your son. Give him a big ol hug from me. He'll love that.... NOT. Oh, and come by for coffee any time. Love to hear from you.

Hello Mama, my son is 35 years old and he, his son my grandson and his girlfriend and her two daughters and myself all live together. He is my only child and truthfully never left home.

For the most part he and I get along but we had our bad times as well. You learn as you go along.

I am in my early 50's and have my health problems as well. But I am learning not to dwell on that, I just try to enjoy everyday that I can live it my way, Thanks to God.

MamaC do you take any meds for the fibro and osteoarthritis? I used to take vioxx but that was taken away and nothing put in its place for my uncomfort.

Son is stressing alot and I dont blame him, hopefully its nothing.

He has his surgery on the 6th of Sept.

Hi Bel:

Meds.... I'm on appx 16 prescriptions. Mostly pain killers, but then there are the diuretics for the edema, muscle relaxers, anti spazes, etc.

Scheduled surgery for the 15th. They had origially said if it began to shrink we could skip surgery. Now they say we must have the surgery no matter what coz the mass has grown into the muscle. We are not happy. They will have to take part of the muscle and there could be some temporary nerve damage.

Anyway. They have a preop tour the kids can take. That way whe sill see wht to expect.

Gotta quit for tonight. Am putting ot more errors then not.

Bel:

Let us know what your son says. We are here for you.

I have alot of excess weight also. Gained 80 lbs in one month and then 20 more appx 6 months ago. They say it is the edema... and possibly some of the meds, the heart not pumping well, the prednisone they had me on 3 years ao..... so many factors. Irritating.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Well my son talked with his doctor and he will be in the hospital for three hours for prep and the actual surgery. The doctor says the tumor is on his gland and they are going to remove it, but dont know about the gland. They are going to check it when it is removed and my son should have the results he said in about a week. The surery he says will only require maybe 2 or 3 stiches and my son will be able to return to work the next day. It all seems so simple but why is my son having black-outs, dizziness, lost weight..?? He used to weigh about 210 now he weigh 160 and looks unhealthy. He is always in pain and very very tired.

MamaC thank you for your concern and please know I will keep Erica and you in my prayers for a healthy and speedy recover for your baby.

Take Care
Bel
