JUST FOR FUN

"Top Ten List: Why Elvis Will Replace Jesus"

10. His motto "Taking Care of Business" appeals to the power structure better than "Jesus Saves."
9. White jumpsuits are more practical than white robes in most parts of the world.
8. Elvis had better songs!
7. Elvis had sex!
6. Elvis approved of his followers having sex!
5. The Presley-Jackson Estate will probably own most of the world anyway.
4. JC's disciples drove camels; Elvis' disciples drove Caddies. Which would you rather be?
3. You don't have to starve yourself to emulate Elvis.
2. JC's followers learned "turn the other cheek." Elvis' followers learned karate.
1. You're still reading this.

Bev,
Did you happen to catch American Idol last night with the Celine Dion/Elvis duo? Did you ever see Elvis in concert?

My mom and dad took us to see him in concert just before his last. it was a magnificant show. One I've never forgotten (and we'll not say how many years ago).

I don't watch tv so don't now about American Idol. As for him bein alive... It is entirely possible but who will ever know.

bev and mamac, I went to one of his last concerts with some friends. To be honest, I didn't even care if I went or not, but went because he was famous. I really didn't see the big deal like my friends did. Well, he has this HUGE intro and by the time he came out on the stage, I was SCREAMING! OMG, it is him, the king of rock and roll! I loved it. Oh, later on I worked with a teacher who had was in the front at the concert and she got one of his kisses and scarves. She keeps the scarf and the gum that was in her mouth in a safe deposit box; that cracks me up. I think she thinks his DNA is in her gum!

Too bad we are anonymous, because I have American Idol taped on the DVR. Hey, try the fox website and go to American Idol and just maybe you can view it.

My oldest brother lives in Memphis and last year two of my kids took a roadtrip and they went to Graceland. That surprised me and my 18yr. old still tells people she went to Elvis's house!

I showed a documentary of Elvis throughout his life to my music appreciation class in an inner-city predominately african-american classroom.

It was amazing watching them watching him.

And when it got towards the end of his life when he was blown up like a balloon--you should have heard the comments.

They did like his music, and they still talk about "Elvis the Pelvis".

It was pretty funny.

When Michael Jackson hit his stride, and everyone was trying to emulate his dance steps, all I could think about was the movie Jailhouse Rock. Michael's moves were Elvis'. The jumping up on his toes- Elvis!

Hi Bev,

Did you know that Elvis was the #1 contributor of funds to the building of the memorial and visitors museum at the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor? A really generous man and great legend.

We have one of the best impersonators in the world right here in Waikiki. His name is Jonathon Von Brana. 6'7" tall, gorgeous, black hair/blue eyes and super slender. He's not only fab at performing but a genuinely NICE man. He evokes chills from all our customers! If you want to have a look check out the "Blue Hawaii Show" in Wackywacky.

H-gal

I can remember reading something about some new band that came to Graceland and were all cocky and everything because they'd just gotten their first platinum record or whatever and then they walked in and saw all the ones Elvis had...... it shut them up pretty quick.

I always thought that Paul McCartney was the most handsome man on earth. Even at 60+, he still looks good. Now, I don't pay too much attention. Richard Gere is nice-looking though.

Elvis was handsome though. So sad that he died the way he did.

A little of the subject, but have you seen the movie 'Pride and Prejudice'? VERY good!
